service is kind of slow but i’m giving it doubt for its sunday and on a long weekend holiday, but stood right next to a guy that took them more than 30 mins just to take his order. more than an hour on the line and two more hours before your fish and chips gets serve, i guess its so fresh that they are just hauling in the catch as soon as you place your order, so if your in town and wants to go sight seeing on a weekend bring something to eat, so that you can get to see some other stuff around town. but food is ok, nothing spectacular, and service is bad but the clam chowder is pretty good. maybe because i waited two hours and i was really hungry.

My family and I got fish and chips and we weren’t a fan. Dry and not flavorful. So if you’re looking for fish and chips, this is not the place.

Good prices for delicious food. In between two restaurants and this one caught my eye. Fish & Chips was really good! Will come here again next trip to Morro Bay or even passing through.

I have loved this place since high school. Their burgers are amazing and it’s my favorite burger place ever. If you don’t mind a huge burger, try the Marco burger and you will be satisfied. Their chili is great too. It’s a small little shack with seating by the ocean. Totally worth trying! The only downfall is the seating isn’t always clean and sometimes it takes awhile to get the food made.

Ordered fish — n — chips and they were fantastic. They were lightly battered and crispy. We also ordered the chilli in a bread bowl and clam chowder. The chilli was okay but the chowder was really good. I would definitely come back.

The wait time was too long for my liking but the fish and chips were great! It can get cold eating outside so be sure to bring sweaters for the whole family. There is a little patio off to the side that is enclosed. You can eat there or at one of the few tables right nearby.

Always get the cheese burger and onion rings here. The food is definitely oily. Taste is average. Last time I ordered the bacon cheese burger and was really disappointed(came with literally one bacon strip… ridiculous). Location is good. Food looks better than it tastes in my opinion.

3rd time is a charm. This was the third eatery we tried on our recent vacation to Morro Bay. After two horrible disappointments and almost giving up on finding a decent restaurant in Morro Bay, Lil Hut was a great stop. We ordered the Crabby Patty, shrimp cocktail and fish & chips. Everything was fresh, cooked correctly, and tasty. The only disappointment was the shrimp cocktail(a little bland), but we prefer a spicy cocktail sauce. This will be our new lunch destination on our Morro Bay trips!

I wasn’t impressed at all by this seafood stop. Saying this place is cheap is a laugh. Whatever you say rich people of Morro Bay. Anyways, I got the fish and chips, full. Which came out to $ 10.50. The half platter wasn’t much cheaper. When I picked up my food I was greatly disappointed. Did this place really just sacrifice quality for quantity? How unfortunate. The fish was flavorless. The fries had seasoning on them, but did they taste seasoned? No. Maybe they would have if I was drunk. The tartar sauce was okay. I LOVE tartar sauce. It is my condiment of choice with fish, always. It was a little one-note, but I liked that they kept it chunky. It felt like one little plastic bowl of tartar sauce went a loooong way though. On another note, what is in that batter for the fried fish? Beer-battered fish I can detect. Panko-coated fish I can detect, but this was just… not any of that. It was hard to figure out what it was if I’m honest. Overall, I’m pissed that I wasted my money on lackluster food. Yes sure, a full fish and chips comes out to 6 fish, but if it doesn’t even taste good, what the heck is the point?

I came here twice on separate occasions within the same week. Looks like they fixed their customer service problem. My experience with the cashier was friendly and straight forward. I ordered a plate of fish n chips with clams, cocktail shrimps, and clam chowder. their highlight is definitely their Fish within the fish n chips. their fries leave a lot to be desired. i would have preferred a more generous big chunky fries for my fish n chips than the skimpy McDonalds style skinny fries for my fish n chips. but their fish, even after fried, still taste fresh and chewy, which is very important for me as a seafood goer. Fish and chips is such a simple thing, but believe it or not, so many places just can’t get it right. i would go back here just for the fried fish. their clam is overly fried. Chowder is OK. not great nor bad, just ok. Fried Salmon is also ok, if anything about average and tend to be a bit overcooked. i would definitely come here again just for the fish n chips alone. the price is very affordable, which is important for vacation goers with a large family.

Love this place for fish and chips. It’s a walk up place with outdoor seating, but so much better than most the indoor restaurants around.

Not impressed with this little hut at all. We were running short on time so we decided to stop here since there were quite a few people ordering and eating food. It looked like a safe bet. I got the fried oysters and my fiancé got the crabby patty and the food was edible and that’s about it. The crabby patty was all filler(breadcrumbs) and the fried oysters did not taste fresh. Not to mention the creepy seagulls diving down over people’s heads in the eating area because there was trash everywhere. Won’t be coming back here… I’d rather go to McD’s.

Had a quick lunch here — Pros: combo fish & shrimp plate, with fries — delicious; free refills on the soda; nice staff; and great view of bay. Lunch & drink $ 14. Cons: tables and flooring area is disgustingly dirty and not cleaned a bit. Ick.

I was so excited to try this place during our drive up the coast. After visiting this place, I’m surprised at how many people recommended this place. It was underwhelming & the order took FOREVER. We only ordered the clam chowder and(not kidding) it took maybe 30 minutes to scoop soup into a little cup. The soup itself was nothing better than any ordinary clam chowder. I actually didn’t finish it because it was a little too milky. Will probably not revisit.

Large portions for good prices. However, I don’t care how great the portions are if the food isn’t good. I had fish and chips. Seriously one of the most tasteless pieces of food I’ve ever had. Desperately needed seasoning overall. To top everything off, parts of the fish still had very tough, large pieces of skin on it. We will not be back. Fries also ached for seasoning. Service was fine which I why I’m giving two stars instead of one.

We wanted to give this«shack» a try because it was literally on the pier on top of the water. You figured since they are literally on the water seafood will be fresh and phenomenal… wrong. It was what I imagine a Long John Silver in Riverside is like. Shrimp cocktail was like shrimp bait for catching some other fish…

Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Stopped by for the usual Squid Burgers & fries with my cutiepie. Service from cute counter gal was outstanding. Food was yummylishious! I agree sometimes the experience is less than stellar, especially on weekends and, from younger order takers who could care less about anything resembling work in general. But, SQUIDBURGERS are AWESOME! Then, it’s off to Tognazzini’s Dockside 3 for a dozen raw &BBQ oysters and a beer! Life is good.

I gotta say that I was very disappointed in this place. The food was not very good. I had the Fish and Chips, Half order. First it was cold, okay maybe warm at best, but it did not taste very fresh. The fish was chewy in some spots and a little tough in others. The pieces were quit small for the price. The fries, or chips, were not even warm. We also ordered a coke and a water. They gave us the soda, but when I asked about the water, they seemed like it was a bother. Not very friendly. The person kinda shoved it through the window. No smile, no eye contact, with a bruff«Here». I also saw a customer go up to the window and asked them for something to wipe down the table. If it was MY business… I would have had someone go out there and wipe down that table for them, but that is not what happened. They did give them a rag, but having a customer clean up a table left dirty is not cool at all. I would understand if they were busy, but there were at least three people inside, and only one other customer, so they were not busy at all. Now being a local to the area, I would think that they would be a little more courteous. I am asked quite often, almost daly, for referrals to local eateries by people visiting the area and this is one place I would not feel comfortable referring them to. Customer service is definitely NOT their strong point. I’m pretty sure that quality is not either. That being said, I would NOT recommend this place. I might be willing to give it another try at some point cause I do understand that it might just be Lil Hut having a bad day.

Ugh! A really bad experience here. Food was very so-so, but the service was deplorable. It wasn’t just bad, the guy at the counter was disinterested, and had zero customer service skills and was actually combative; everything passed him off. I requested no mayo on my veggie burger, and this request was met with annoyance. When I then asked what else came on it he said(again, really annoyed) «the same stuff that comes on the regular burger.») I said I wasn’t familiar with their burgers so I lead him along by asking«does it come with lettuce, tomato, onion?» And he snapped«YES!» after each ingredient I listed. He rolled his eyes next. I was completely polite and attempted to be pleasant, but this was a comically terrible experience. The outside tables were dirty and there were flies all over. If this sounds like a good experience to you, you should definitely try this place.
