Five of us had lunch here in early March, and the quality and taste delicious. Service is a tad funky(and slow), but they are very nice and the food is worth the wait. The make a bowl item is wonderful, with lot’s of choices. Limited seating indoors, but street seating too.

Get a healthy drink and/or food at this delicious vegetarian and vegan locally sourced café. When I lived in Morro Bay last year, I loved coming to to shine café. Today I got the heart beet juice and would recommend it if you like beets. Has an additional kick with the ginger! I have also had their bowls and tacos. Both very good. Also try the«sweets» displayed on the counter, usually some type of vegan dessert. Always yummy. The service is quick and friendly and there is ample seating inside or outside.

Fabulous vegan food. My favorite is the TLT — tempeh flavored like bacon, lettuce and tomato. But it’s all good!

Strictly okay-ish place but the only Vegan place in the neighborhood. It can get a bit crowded and the lack of seating doesn’t help either. Food is good and so are the smoothies & juices. Service is very slow.

Every once in a while you come across an organic eating option and this café really shines through. I simply loved the idea and had an eextensive choice of smoothies to try it out. The photos on the wall were quite a conversation starter from a monastery in Bhutan to the lakes of Vietnam. I loved the blue haven smoothie and the vegan kimchi with my sandwich and salad. The herb spiced hummus was scrumptious too. Might I say I would be a regular, If only they open an outpost in bay area. Vegans and vegetarians are bound to go nuts here:)

FELLOWCELIACSPROCEEDWITHCAUTION I have eaten hundreds of meals here without incident. I have had a few that were accidentally cross contaminated and put me out of commission for up to 3 weeks. The owner was very concerned and discussed the problem with me. If you have Celiac disease you need to emphasize it, even if what you order is gluten free. They have a few items that contain gluten that can easily cross contaminate the gluten free items.

This place has good food. The tempeh tacos are amazing and the portions are great of the price. But the service is repeatedly just been so terrible that I’m over it. I’ve asked questions a few times about ingredients and the staff hasn’t known(which from a vegan restaurant I expect). They allow for call in orders, but I’ve been forgotten on hold. There’s always long waits, which I have learned to expect, but recently the people who work there have just been rude to me. I left the last time fuming over how one of the girls treated me. I understand they are usually busy and understaffed, but this is becoming a reoccurring theme when I go there and I’m over it. Sorry Shine, but we’re on a break.

Stopped in to grab a snack before catching a movie across the street. I really enjoyed the vegetable spring roll! The spiced tempeh and flavor packed sesame ginger sauce saved it from being a bland wad of carrots and cabbage. The veggies were beautiful and crisp though, and the avocado gave it a nice creamy texture. The berry smoothie was good. Friendly service, place was packed so there was a bit of a wait. If I have time while I’m in town I’ll be back to try more! It’s good to balance out the clam chowder consumption with some veggie nourishment, ahhhh…

Eat here. End of story. Okay and on a side note, these owners are awesome people. The spring rolls and tempeh tacos are to die for… Check out the health store attached to the restaurant also!

I’ve been frequenting Shine Café for several years now, back when they were located in the back of the health food store next door(literally, a hole in the wall). I adore the food and that they’ve expanded and now even have a separate juice and smoothie line(I recommend the Mud Slide with peanut butter). My only complaints and reasons for not giving Shine 5 stars are that they often run out of breakfast items early and that a few of the cashiers can be cranky. Why so mad, beautiful friends? :)

Vegan or not, this place is great. Fresh ingredients and amazing sauces make each dish a treat. I recommend getting the black bean tostada! Be warned the cayucos hot sauce is surprisingly spicy.

This place is super legit. Why do you have to be so far away in Morro Bay? :( This was another Unilocal find during a recent LA trip down Highway 1. The café is located in the heart of downtown Morro Bay. We ordered the famous Tempeh Taco, one of the green/avocado smoothies, and a carrot soup. I wanted to try some of their truffle style desserts, but I decided to save those for my next visit. Despite the long wait, the Tempeh Taco was totally worth it! The tempeh was the best I have ever had– homemade, hot, and fresh! It was nothing like the nasty, petrified tempeh served at other locales. The veggies were super fresh, the tortilla was tasty, and the dressing made the dish! Wow, I wish they could ship some tacos up to San Jose. Beware– the«taco» is more like an open-faced burrito. We also enjoyed the carrot soup(made with cashew milk) and the smoothie. Service was very friendly and accommodating. The sidewalk seating in the front was pleasant. I can’t wait to return and try some of their other goodies!

This was the restaurant experience of a lifetime. Just walking into the café had us drooling, it smells wonderful in there! It was crowded, but we got our food very quickly! We had the tempeh tacos and vegetable spring rolls. We swapped halfway through so we could try both. Delicious. the cilantro dressing on the tempeh tacos is to die for. I’m not even a vegetarian and I LOVED it. The spring rolls were simple and delicious, the ginger sauce was creamy and had wonderful flavor. We ordered two smoothies at the regular register and that order got lost in translation somewhere. The second I asked about it they made the drinks then and there, and even gave us an extra for free! The smoothies were also fantastic. I would just recommend ordering them at the smoothie bar because it seems to be less confusing. :) Finding a great vegan place is so hard where we live, and thanks to Shine Café, Morro Bay will be our go-to vacation spot. We have one more day in town and I think we’ll go at least two more times!

Delicious and satisfying vegan food! Items ordered: 1. Famous Tempeh Taco — large portion topped with a tasty sauce, this was the star of the meal! 2. Tempeh Reuben — this was good but not as good as the tempeh taco 3. Spring Rolls — I was getting greedy and wanted to try a variety of items off the menu. The ingredients ended up being the same as the toppings from the tempeh taco so it was sort of repetitive so I don’t recommend getting both together. Plus, it’s way too much food anyway! I ended up taking them home for lunch the next day. 4. Two smoothies — green dragon & berry blast, both yummy especially after a long hike! Great place to have a healthy lunch, I will definitely come back if I’m ever in the area.
