1 star for food. Ridiculously overpriced, non-authentic Chinese food :(I’m giving it two stars because the staff was really nice. I was so excited to find a place selling dim sum in the SLO area when this place popped up on Unilocal.I know trying Asian food on the Central Coast is pretty hit or miss(mostly miss) so didn’t have too high expectations going into this place. Still, seeing dim sum classics like cha siu bao and siu mai on the menu made me pretty excited. The siu mai was… mmm it’s hard to describe other than to say it wasn’t siu mai. It was more like little pork and cabbage dumplings(think gyoza flavor) than siu mai but shaped in little balls instead of gyoza shaped. It didn’t even have yellow skin! It would’ve been decent if it wasn’t labeled as «pork siu mai» on the menu. Maybe go with«pork dumplings» instead? They were also tiny and way overpriced at 4 pieces for $ 5. .then my BBQ pork buns(cha siu bao) came. I thought… you can’t mess up chasiu… right? Well first off I broke the bun in half and the cha siu didn’t have that iconic red tinge to it… uhh… Taste wise it was pretty bleh. DEFINITELY not cha siu. It wasn’t awful otherwise but I definitely will not reorder. My boyfriend got chicken chow mein and it was okay. He did not enjoy it but it wasn’t repulsive… This place serves Chinese food to people who don’t know what Chinese food is, unfortunately. That’s not a bad thing if that’s what you like. But I know there’s a lot of asians in SLO who are always on the lookout for actual asian food and I don’t want them to come in expecting dim sum to be disappointed by what they find. This place is okay«chinese» food but don’t come here for the dim sum or expecting anything more authentic than panda express.

Sophie’s is great. Went in to get a quick bite. Figured I would get a typical Los Osos, Morro Bay terrible Chinese meal. I was elated to find a local restaurant where you can talk to the cook and get exactly what you want. She makes all her noodles and sauces from scratch. The beef chow mien was flavorful and fabulous. I then had her make a chicken and vegetable dish with rice noodles. It was light, colorful, and delicious. She offered to make a teriyaki chicken bowl that my son and I had to try. It was also tasty. I can’t wait to go back and try the many other dishes she has to offer. I took the leftovers home to my wife(who tends to be picky) and she was also thrilled with the discovery. We are going back soon to sit and talk to Sophie and see what ideas she has next time. I want to try her curry and her garlic eggplant.

I have been to Sophies twice now and love it. Sophie is mainly the reason why. She is so nice and she provides a very clean, comfortable, and super cute little restaurant for some delicious Chinese treats. Her steamed Pork Bun and Siu Mai are yummy and the soups are really satisfying on a cold Morro Bay day.

Finally delicious authentic dim sum in SLO County! Love the garlic eggplant, steamed pork buns, and pork shui mai. Bought a tin of fragrant loose leaf jasmine green tea that is superb. Try the sweet sesame balls and Boba drinks for your sweet tooth.

Miss Sophie was incredibly nice — personable — professional makes you feel so welcome! My little brother in law and I went in for something refreshing and cold! It was a warm day for us in Morro bay!!! We had the slushies! Incredible flavors ! She made sure that we tasted them before we left to make sure we were satisfied! I cannot wait to bring my husband back for a hot date night! The food looked delicious! Thank you again!!!

I was so excited when I found out a bobba place opened here in Morro Bay so my boyfriend and I decided to check it out. The vibe of the restaurant was okay, nice and clean with bright natural lighting. When I looked at the menu I noticed everything was so way overpriced with small servings for each item. I went ahead and gave it a try anyways so I ordered 2pork dimsum, shrimp dumplings and egg tarts and bobba. The pork siu mai was okay nothing special, plain soysauce for dipping sauce but it was $ 4.95 for four tiny siu mai(more than a dollar each lol), I’ve been to authentic dimsum places and they charge around $ 2.50 for four medium sized pieces with delicious dipping sauce. The Shrimp dumplings were mediocre but again $ 6.95 for 6 tiny pieces lol. Then the egg tarts came $ 3.95 for 3 pieces. Ofcourse they were horrible, half baked, the eggcustard was still cold in the middle, it seemed like microwaved egg tarts. The bobba and thai tea were alright nothing amazing. Bottom line I payed $ 30, It was such a rip off, just imagine spending a dollar per bite lol. The food was not that great, and food presentation was horrible! I was still hungry when I left. The only reason why Im giving it two stars is because the lady who served us was nice, its a new business and has potential to be better. I dont think Im going back, but I hope they take this as a constructive criticism to improve their business.

A pleasant surprise on our way to the movies, an unexpected surprise. We told the lovely woman(Sophie) that we were rather pressed for time. She made a recommendation, we ordered, she cooked, presented and we ate! Delicious, really delicious. This spot is very clean, bright and has a good feel to it, located on busy Morro Bay Blvd. Beside being a talented cook Sophie is lovely, charming, caring, and a delight. We all had different cold drinks recommended by Sophie, yum! A fun little gem of Morro Bay. Try it, you’ll like it. Indoor and lovely outdoor seating too. We left with smiling faces and tummies comfortably pampered. Not stuffed, just comfortable and content. We’ll definitely have meals here again soon.
