This place is soo good. Arrived around 3pm and avoided the rush that would’ve been present with lunch or dinner. The Temple Nachos with Carnitas comes on a plate with a generous amount of food that is enough for 2 – 4 ppl. Paired with one of their four salsas from their self serve chip&salsa bar it made the perfect lunch. The atmosphere is very laid back and social. Open seating areas with some classic rock music. Ocean view across Highway 1 was great since we just moved to the area and still feel like tourists a bit. We will be recommending this place to others.

Second trip to Taco Temple in early March 2016: again the food was outstanding, including a piece of delicious carrot cake(let it come to room temperature before eating); and again, the service was really odd. Staff stands around, isn’t friendly, you have to beg for refills, and more. It’s such a cool place that I cannot understand why the unfriendly or «bothered» service?! We also benefitted from lunch on Thursday, as there’s a great farmers market next to the grocery store from 2– 5.

Food, as usual was awesome. Only gripe from my latest meal was that I ordered a Longboard Lager, and got an 805. The server assured me that it was a Longboard, and that it is normally that light, but I know the difference between a Longboard and an 805. Normally it wouldn’t make a difference, but since my wife is allergic to wheat(not gluten), and we were going to share, this would have been a big mistake. 805 has some wheat in it, and Longboard does not.

Best carnitas on the central coast, and the cod tacos are amazing. If you are in the area I highly. recommend you stop. and try it. Cash and checks only though, so come prepared. BTW the burritos are huge, I am a big guy and I can only eat about half of one.

Quality is on the downswing again, after several years of recovery from the previous rough patch. Portion sizes have grown, but everything is relatively less flavorful, or just badly excecuted– I had a crevice that was inedibly acidic a while back, and the fish has returned to hit-or-miss as to whether it will be overdone. An unfortunate turn of events… hopefully they’ll be able to right the ship this time as well.

Arriving at 5:30 proved to be a perfect time to beat the dinner crowd. Chips and salsa are my Achilles heel. I have been avoiding them for the past few months, but there was no chance I could avoid resisting the serve yourself chip bar with tasty salsa and the most perfect chips ever. Nom nom nom… I had been holding a candle for the sweet potato enchiladas ever since my first visit. They came out beautifully plated on a piping hot plate. I was stunned that the other full sized plate brought out with it was mine too. The second plate was loaded with black beans, rice, cheese, a lovely salad, and a nice sized side of fresh guacamole. Mercy! No way could I get all that down, especially after my chip splurge! There were definitely leftovers. I will say that while very good, the sweet potato enchiladas didn’t quite wow me as much as the last time. I don’t know if anything changed in the ingredients or flavors or texture. But overall a beautiful dish. My dinner companions had the special of salmon tacos and the chile verde, dry, AKA, a small baby. The salmon tacos were reported to be solid. The fish was fresh and tasted great. It was more of a flat taco, almost like a salad with salmon, and a tortilla on the bottom. The chile verde was good too. It is a very large burrito that could be the size of a small newborn. It take some chops to finish one of those. No complaints in the taste department. We had been wanting to try the infamous carrot cake but they just ran out just before we ordered a slice, even though it was still early. Note to self, order carrot cake first next time! Though to be perfectly honest, I didn’t have any room and would have had to take it to go, well maybe after one bite ;)

Amazing quality and huge portions. Think of the«tacos» as a tortilla covered by a mound of veggies and a huge portion of perfectly cooked fresh fish. We stop here every time we come up the coast from Santa Barbara!

I visited Taco Temple on a busy Sunday afternoon with a friend. We waited about 25 minutes for a table, but with the free do-it-yourself tortilla chips and salsa bar, and an outside view of the ocean, it passed quickly. I had one grilled Alaskan cod taco and one chicken taco. Giant, fresh, flavorful are some of the words that came to mind. The tacos were delicious – just count on eating them with a fork primarily. The lettuce, raw carrots, shredded radishes, etc are piled so high, u could never get a hand around them. The tacos were good, but I’d have to say, the flavors don’t mesh together the way you expect, IMHO. My friend liked the calamari taco he had a lot. It too was piled high with lightly breaded and fried calamari with. His came with a tiny little cup of mango salsa. Don’t miss the house(nonalcoholic) type drink: A super sour pink lemonade drink. Whew! I love sour, so it was great to me. The ambiance is what u would expect from a dive-type of restaurant near the beach. The staff was very friendly and prompt though. Overall, the experience was positive and the food really good. For this area, one of the best Mexican places I’ve visited.

The first visit to Taco Temple… My wife and I visit SLO county regularly and were told that we had to make a stop here. We heard that the portions were big and that this was one of the best local eateries to experience in Morro Bay. The first thing we noticed was the clean and welcoming ambiance, plenty of parking and two killer chips and salsa bars overflowing with fresh fried tortilla chips with a lush and flavorful salsa. Very impressed. After looking over the menu of different seafood and classic Mexican food options, we decided to take the order to and both get burritos. It was at this time that we also noticed they accept CASH and local checks only. Although not ideal, we did have our checkbook on us. The gentleman working the register welcomed us as new guests and re-iterated that their portions are rather large, but didn’t really provide us much guidance on how to order or give us any personal recommendations knowing we were new, so we decided on carnitas and Alaskan cod burritos. After a short wait, out came our order. I can honestly say that these were the largest burritos that I’ve ever been served and I think that were the problems started. The burrito is to big to eat as a burrito. It is just a large mess waiting to happen unless you are ready to use a fork. The size also makes it hard for even distribution of the ingredients, where you get large bites of rice and black beans. This is where we felt the burritos were dry and somewhat bland. **In hindsight, I now started to wonder if the red/green sauce for the additional $ 2 would have been the way to go. But is this put inside the burrito or is it a «wet» burrito option?** Either way, there needs to be some sort of sauce or salsa in the burrito because it’s just too dry as is. From the smells and the dishes I saw coming out to the guests, I want to come back to try some other options. Perhaps this review will change for the better on the next visit as this was written solely on the burritos.

Damn wagyu burrito? Sign me up madame! While out here for work we were told that stopping by is a must. So after a few green ones and a couple Mndsgn tracks we arrived at the temple of doom. Jones not present. Def the kinda spot your looking to wait during the weekends(round 20 – 25 min). Good time to relax and enjoy the view. Tbh I know my friends ordered food, but once my burrito landed it was a tunnel vision atw. If a burrito the size of your 6 month old didn’t already get your attention then you must have a lot of shit going on in your life. They show off with 2 slices of wagyu on top– so baaad. It wasn’t until I reached half way into my burrito I stopped to enjoy the taste of all it had to offer. The meat was extremely tender. Little smokey. There were an assortment of the typical cats inside the burrito, but wagyu was the show. My favorite show at that.

An amazing find in Morrow bay as we drive down highway one. The fish was super fresh and portion sizes are super generous. The tacos and tostadas are piled high with fresh veges and topped with perfectly seasoned and cooked tuna(shredded chicken for the bf). The salsa at the salsa bar is all fresh and watch out for the salsa verde with is essentially all jalapeño! If you like some heat, definitely pile some on to your plate!

Made the trek up here while on vacation in Pismo Beach because of several recommendations. EXCELLENT food. The chips were amazing — couldn’t stop eating them(should’ve but couldn’t). Sweet potato enchiladas were delicious and more than enough to share. Carnitas were nice and crispy! Brought our dog and ate in their patio. Bring cash!

These are not tacos. They sell taco salads. The fish is awesome but it is more like a fish taco salad. They need to rename the place to salad taco temple
