Yoga Center Of Morro Bay

My «home» studio for sure. Loving staff and great class selection. Angela’s Yin classes are heavenly. Maybe only a hand full of poses but great introspection time and a great way to check in with yourself. Jennifer’s classes are great for mind and body and I always pick up a bit of wisdom from her.

I’m pretty new to the area, so finding an oasis like the Yoga Center has truly been like «coming home» for me. I’m particularly fond of their Yin, Gentle, and Restorative classes which are offered multiple times per week. At the end of a tough day, I totally relish the long, slow poses that Jennifer and Angela teach so well. But don’t be put off by my personal preferences. If you’re in the mood for something a little more strenuous, you won’t be disappointed by their flow classes at all. There’s something for everyone at every level in this warm, welcoming yoga studio.

It is difficult to get anyone to return calls. Other facilities have people who answer the phone and if they don’t answer the phone, at least are courteous enough to return calls left on voice mail.

Took a restorative workshop. It was divine. I think I even snored a couple times. Heaven.

What a great little place. My girlfriend and I signed up for a couple months when we first came to Morro bay and ended up signing up for a couple more months when we moved back. Lots of classes throughout the day. The room is a little small so the evening classes can get a little packed but we never had any problems finding a place to stretch out. If they had a few more weekend or evening classes we might have stayed but our work schedules made it too difficult. We will definitely keep our eyes open and consider rejoining if they add more classes.

I came here twice with a friend. The first time, the teacher arrived late without apologizing. The stretching was ok but the focus was on spirituality and new age stuff. It seemed the teacher was not properly trained in yoga so instead fluffed things up with unrelated and useless tips.
The second time, we tried a guy that either rushed us or kept us in awkward positions for too long. There was no middle ground. I have a tweaked back and it hurt even more afterward. This was the worst yoga class I have ever taken.
My friend decided she does not like yoga. I would say the same but I know what yoga should be like. This was not it.

Well I disagree 100% with SW from Pismo, SW must have been having a bad day. This studio is the best on the central coast. The teachers are warm, friendly and knowledgable. I have never felt pressured to enter a pose, purchase a membership or attend a retreat. The fact is the owner wants everyone to be able to do yoga. Her mission is far from pushy. I recommend this yoga studio over all others and I have been to every studio on the central coast!

I came to Morro Bay about five months ago and went to both studios right in town. One felt cold and business-​like. Here I really appreciated how Jennifer took the time to ask me my name, and remembers me from class to class. Most classes are great, but unfortunately it’s getting a bit crowded; even with the new larger studio. But I like the vibe — very accepting and peaceful so I am teaching myself tolerance with the situation. I am sorry Unilocal has taken several very positive reviews off the recommended reviews section, and allowed a recent negative one to stay. I never felt any pressure to «buy» anything here. I like having a punch card so I can come and go as my schedule (and motivation) permits. I also think the intro deal ($ 20 for two weeks) is a great opportunity to see if YCMB is a good fit. For me it is!

I can’t say enough positive things about YCMB, but I’ll start with the fact that it has changed my life (and my family’s) in ways I never could have imagined. All of the teachers have something unique to offer and there are classes suited to any level of practice. Most importantly, the atmosphere is welcoming, non-​competitive and incredibly supportive. I have been practicing at YCMB for about 5 months now and I feel so blessed to have found this community of great people who, like myself, are looking to improve their lives with balance and breath. Classes are very affordable and the teachers are experienced, friendly, helpful and vibrant. The ages of the students range from toddlers (kids Yoga classes) to seniors and their experience levels vary just as much. Regardless, I have found most all the other students to be humble, helpful and fun to practice with. We are so lucky to have YCMB here on the coast, thank you Jennifer, Michael, Angela, Sherri and the rest of the YCBM staff. By the way, it stinks that Unilocal has filtered all of the other YCMB reviews, all but one are 5 stars.

It’s pointless trying to sell memberships to people that don’t live in your town. Also, I didn’t like being nagged about going into this pose or that and a wheel should definitely not be the third pose in the beginning. When you say to people to listen to our bodies, then let us. Don’t come around trying to convince me to do what I know I shouldn’t. Finally, I felt pressured about some yoga retreat. You are not running a used car lot. It was definitely a mistake trying this place out. Oh, well. Live and learn.

I went to my first class last week and I really enjoyed it. The instructor Jennifer is very attentive to all of her students, which I appreciate it because I am new to the practice and was a tad uncomfortable being new!

Amazing! Truly for all levels. As a beginner myself I felt a bit nervous going for the first time but after one class with Jen I was hooked. Knowledgeable, friendly, peaceful and comfortable. There seems to be a fantastic sense of community at the studio. Absolutely a great place to unwind the tension and stress of daily life!
