Las Fuentes Restaurant

Food and atmosphere were both great, will be back.

My wife and I decided to try Las Fuentes because we heard some excellent things and read good reviews. I ate the fajita’s (combo steak, chicken, and shrimp) and my wife had the skirt steak dish. Overall, the food was just average. I would compare the food to your average Mexican restaurant. I may have ordered the wrong dishes, but it is what it is! The service was slow and we were told a server didn’t show up… oh well, it happens! The place is huge and the décor was cool.
I would go back to his place and try a different dish since it’s in my neighborhood (kind of) and the people were nice.

Absolutely love this place! Warm chips and delicious salsa… Every item that I have had;
Taco salad, enchiladas, fajitas, burritos, appetizers… Delicious! Never disappoints!

The lunch taco meal was delish. The shredded chicken was seasoned to perfection and the rice and beans were great too. The best part though… the salsa. Their homemade salsa is wonderful. It has a little kick, but not too much. I would recommend this place and I’ll definitely be back!

I was really disappointed with this place. It was my first visit and I was looking forward to it. I ordered the Taco Salad with Avocados. I suspected there were ingredients missing, but didn’t have the menu and the waiter never checked back. I got a small taco shell with refried bean, shredded lettuce, avocado slices, shredded cheese and sour cream. It was missing the onions, cilantro, guacamole and tomato FOUR MAJOR INGREDIANTS. Since this was my choice of restaurant and I dragged my family there, I didn’t make a fuss, but this salad never should have left the kitchen. My brother’s «steak» burrito was minced beef, virtually the same as ground beef, but more expensive. He was not happy. I called the manager from home the next day and he told me «next time, ask for the ingredients that are missing». There won’t be a «next time»

Just had a very delicious lunch here at a good price. Enchiladas Las Fuentes w salsa verde. Yum. Service was great. Will return when I’m in the area.

Hace unos días fui en compañía de mi esposa eh hijos por primera vez a este restaurante para empezar al entrar es un restaurante poco visto como otros por que esta muy bien decorado muy amplio, limpio una música muy con un volumen bueno ya que se puede platicar muy bien se nos recibió de una manera amable y con una sonrisa a los pocos minutos llego el mesero una persona muy atenta alegre y muy amable de nombre Miguel bromeó con mis hijos que eso se me hizo lo mejor por que son pocos los meseros en otros restaurantes que son atentos con los niños la comida excelente pedí una carne asada con huitlacoche mi esposa un salmón y mis hijos chicken tenders y tacos una muy buena porción de muy buen sazon y las margaritas totalmente ricas es una de las mejores experiencias que eh tenido por supuesto que regresaremos

Nice décor not a lot of people wen I arrived, I opted to sit outside… hold on to your napkins… the chips wer stale and the salsa was horrible no flavour at all. Ordered the shredded chicken quesadilla wow amazing taste the main course of salmon maya and combination fajitas were scrumptious. service was just ok had to wait a while for the food and check but on a whole go for the food and that’s all.

This is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants that I have been to. We come here about once a month for dinner and frozen margaritas. I always get the carne asada cooked rare and it is truly one of the best that I’ve ever had. My fiancé usually orders the shrimp tacos or the Luna salad. The Luna salad is very flavorful. Don’t even get me stated on their frozen strawberry margaritas. I can’t stop drinking them! I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family!

Food was good. Service was horrible.
Ordered chicken tacos with only onions and cilantro. Came out with cheese and lettuce and on flour tortillas even though the menu says it comes with corn tortillas.
Also ordered chimichangas with no cilantro.
Needless to say, the dish came with cilantro.
Waiter was not attentive and seemed to be overwhelmed though the restaurant was not crowded.
The bus boy spilled scraps from our leftovers on our guest while cleaning our table and barely offered a half assed apology. A number of other tables were left uncleaned though the people had left.
Other than that, the décor was nice and the food was good.

Food was awesome. I was pleasantly surprised by the big portion for a lunch. My waiter was very attentive and helpful. I will definitely eat here again!

Overall if you authentic Mexican cuisine. This is the spot. The staff definitely puts the extra effort to make you feel comfortable. If your gonna order margarita’s order the half pitcher. More bang for your buck.

The food was very good and good sizes. Prices a bit on the high, but the food is worth it.
The fajitas was a bit bland, but the las Fuentes steak was very good and the free chips and salsa were a nice touch.
The serving staff was a bit in a hurry — they asked if they can remove the plate twice… that was the difference to 5 stars for me.

So on my previous visit I had shitty service at this place… Like I said in my previous review the food at this place is awesome, but their service was shady. But I went few more times tried it again and must say their service has improved a lot. Be careful at the bar!!! They tend to over charge!!! But food is awesome

Friends took me here and food was really good, service was fast and friendly. No complaints

I’ve been here a few times before. I have always thought they were a bit over priced for the area. The food has always been good.
But tonight I had my 10 year old with me for the first time. He ordered chicken fingers. Once agin demonstrating his 10 year old sensibilities. What I have to say is WOW the chicken fingers were amazing! Juicy, crisp and seasoned well. Any place that makes the effort to make their own chicken fingers for the kids deserves 5 stars and I no longer see them as a bit overpriced.
Thank you for giving the kids excellent quality food!

Great food and Marta, our waitress was the best. I highly recommend this place. It was great to see the beautiful Marta again!

Update:
We have been going regularly and I am disappointed to say that the great service has gone down the tubes. The last 3 times the service sucked. The first of those times one of our orders was enchiladas with beef filling. There were suppose to be 3. Only 2 were filled with meat. We brought this to the servers attention and he said the manager would have to do something about it. Well we never saw a manager and when the bill arrived there was no adjustment at all in the price. So that was the first bad experience. The next 2 we had to keep hunting down the servers for water or anything we needed. Also, it took forever to get the check and then we had to wait for the servers both times to return with the credit card and receipt. We have made the choice not to go back for almost 2 months now. Their loss.

Totally disappointed. To start we had the octopus in garlic for an appetizer. It was a small portion, half chopped veggies and the rest small slices of octopus. Not really what I expected. For entrees we had the garlic shrimp. The shrimp were not pealed, and our hands got all sticky from the garlic sauce on them trying to peal them. And I also think they were overcooked.
One star for the friendly service.

We had a delicious dinner at this restaurant, and the drinks were really good, too. That’s the short of it. If you want the long of it, read on.
Two friends from Skokie and I came on a recent Saturday night, around 6:30. My male friend immediately embarrassed me by saying to the host, give us a table as far away from children as possible. Not very nice, is that? Especially on an early Saturday evening in a suburban restaurant where there were many, many families dining. I told said friend, once we sat down, the kids will be going home soon, and there will be more adults dining. That turned out to be true, so if you’re anti-​child, be sure to come later.
Service was quick and efficient. It’s clear that the serving staff is accustomed to a high volume business.
Friends and I are all baby boomers of varying ages, and I realized that they are, somehow, a whole lot older than me. They ordered a mango margarita to share. I ordered a gold margarita for myself. We enjoyed the drinks very much.
The guacamole appetizer was very good. I wasn’t as crazy about the standard salsa as my friends were. I thought the salsa was thin and too mild, but they were very happy with it.
One special that night was a selection of 3 different kinds of empanadas. My theory is, if you can get some different that’s unhealthy and delicious, go for it. The three different choices I had were all vegetarian, but not vegan. I’m sorry I can’t remember exactly what they were. I just remember that they were delicious and nicely spiced — not so hot that I break out in a sweat, but not enough to make my nose run. Yummy.
My friends ordered fish tacos and steak tacos. Each order came with rice and beans. They were both happy with their meals, and they both took food home.
We did not order dessert or coffee.
Everyone was very happy with their meals and drinks. We stopped and told the host how much we enjoyed the dinner, and that we hoped to return soon. Just later in the evening, so my intolerant friend doesn’t have to be around kids. Aarrghh.

Still loving this place. Here every Monday for 25% off ½ pitcher to full on M/​T. The décor is spot on for every season. Francisco is the man and Edwin is always on his A game.
Overall, an excellent restaurant. Great quality food at comfortable prices.
You better believe my cinco de mayo will be here, Las Fuentes.

Primero quiero decir que nosotros visitamos este restaurante por lo menos 4 o más veces al mes. Los meseros y las bartenders siempre nos han dado servicio excelente y nos conocen muy bien. Mi pleito no es con ellos, ni con la comida. Lo único que quise es guacamole, en vez de frijoles. Cuando ordene mi cena la mesera/​bartender no me informo que no podía ordenar guacamole en vez de frijoles con la carne asada. Cuando trajeron mi comida no tenía ni guacamole ni frijoles pero si tenía bastante arroz. La mesera/​bartender me informo de su error y yo le pedí que entonces me traiga los frijoles. Regreso y me dijo, con mucha pena, que no podía servirme frijoles tampoco, porque ya me habían dado arroz en vez. Me dijo que el gerente Jorge (hijo de los dueños) no la dejó traerme frijoles. Cuando ella le pidió a Jorge que nos explique el mismo, porque ella estaba muy avergonzada de tener que decirnos (sus clientes regulares), él se escondió en la cocina y la mando a ella. Ella se sintió tan mal que pagó para una orden de frijoles, con su dinero, y me los trajo. ¡ESTO NO TIENE SENTIDO! Nosotros hemos gastado tanto dinero en este restaurante que no merecemos que por 50 centavos, la diferencia entre una orden de frijoles y una orden de guacamole, no pudieron a complacer clientes que gastan 300 dólares o más al mes, porque no es un lugar barato, en su restaurante. No sé si voy a regresar. Pero si sé que voy a advertirles a los amigos que hemos manado a Las Fuente en Morton Grove, del gran Jorge. El manéjelo que no sabe cómo complacer a sus clientes. Lo único que quise fue guacamole!
First, I want to say that we visit this restaurant at least 4 or more times a month. The waiters and bartenders have always given us excellent service and we know them very well. My quarrel is not with them or with the food. All I wanted was guacamole instead of refried beans. When ordering my dinner the waitress did not inform me that I could not order guacamole instead of refried beans with my steak. When they brought my food it had no guacamole or refried beans, but more than enough rice. The waitress /​bartender informed me of her mistake, so then I asked her to bring me the refried beans. She came back and told me, totally embarrassed, that she could not serve me refried beans either, because they had already given me rice instead. She said the manager, Jorge (son of the owners), did not let her bring me the refried beans. When she asked Jorge «the manager» to explain this to us, because she was so embarrassed to have to tell this to her regular customers, he hid in the kitchen and sent her. She felt so bad that she eventually paid for an order of refried beans, with her own money, and brought them to us. THIS MAKES NO SENSE! We have spent so much money in this restaurant, yet for 50 cents, the difference between an order of beans and an order of guacamole, they were unable to please regular customers who spend at least $ 300 a month in this restaurant. I don’t know if we’ll return. I do know that I will be telling all of the friends that we have sent to Las Fuentes in Morton Grove, about the great George. The manager that doesn’t know how to please regular customers. All I wanted was guacamole!
