Ok, I took away a star to make this restaurant a one star. Why? As per my visit Oct. 28th I gave it two stars. On that day I brought home a chilli Mac which I love. I ordered it with extra meat and paid for it. This morning I ate it for lunch, I think that they put on even less meat than a regular order! What is wrong here? I was going to call and correct the matter but after 10 rings I just gave up and turned to Unilocal.This place is very disappointing!

Make sure that if you go here, you like cold food, sitting in the drive thru for 45 minutes, and checking your bag before you leave to remind them that they forgot to give you half of your order. Has happened all 3 times I’ve been there.

No surprise that they rate only two stars. I walked in and sat at the counter right by the register («please seat yourself «the sign said). After being passed by and overlooked for 20 minutes with a menu sitting open in front of me, someone finally asked me if I had been helped. Severely lacking in customer service!

I’m agreeing with the other reviewers’ reviews of this place, it’s awful! How do they take a pretty good food chain food product and make it bad? Slow, unfriendly service… and the cooks can’t even cook a decent tasting Steak & Shake burger. Sorry but it’s Hardee’s next time, until this place changes

THE WORST STEAK n SHAKE I have ever visited. We used to be fairly frequent guests but the experience has declined to were we no longer go there. The service is atrocious. The food is ok when they get the order right. The staff seemed to be running with skeleton crews and unable to handle more than 2 – 4 tables. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!

Chicken tenders smaller than my fingers and I’m an adult. How about a nose ring in your fries? Or was it a mouth ring? Either way she’s not getting it back because I won’t be going back. After waiting 20 minutes for the food it was brought out as I waited up the curb. To the little girls surprise I wondered where my shakes were. Something to drink while I waited would have been nice but letting my food cool while someone went back to make the hand dipped shakes was world class. I wish I could give them a zero rating I question anyone who thinks this place is worthy of anything more than 1. If you’re giving Steak and Puke a 4 are you really telling me these guys cook better than your mother?

I’ll make this quick, eat only the burgers and assorted shakes, hence the name, everything else leave alone. It is a pretty good burger and shake joint trying to be a diner and failing at it miserably. Breakfast is unbelievably bad. After 5 visits this is my review.

The last several times we’ve eaten here have been really disappointing. The service was SLOW and my fries and my kids Mac n cheese had a hair in it. Gross. We aren’t going back.

12/16/13…at 2 pm went thru drivethru and ordered a triple hamburger meal with a large cherry coke. The coke was flat and didnt have enough cherry syrup. The sandwich was very greasy and needed seasoned. For some reason none of my hamburger patties were formed… they were crumbly. FF’s were good for the time of day it was. Atleast the people were friendly and said thank you when i paid which is something that never happens at mc donalds! Got the food fast and its usually good there just not this day. If wasnt for friendly service would have given a 1.

Typical Steak ‘n Shake food. Nothing that sets this Steak ‘n Shake apart from others, however I’m giving it 3* for its incredibly slow service in the drive thru. Even when there is no one there you wait 10 minutes for your food. I suppose that just means they made it fresh… But damn…

This review is in reference to the staff at the Morton location only. The food is par for the course as far as this restaurant chain goes.
Last time I went there we were seated and given menus… and sat… and sat… and sat. I saw someone come to the takeout counter, order, get their food and leave while we sat and waited for someone to come take our order. It’s not like they were short staffed, either; there was one employee strolling around like he had nothing better to do.
Like the 2-​star rating says, «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» Won’t be going back.

I live on the East Coast, so this was my first time eating at a Steak N Shake. I always see them along the highway when we’re visiting family in Illinois but I had never tried it myself.
I had the Chili 5 Way, perfect comfort food for a cold Fall day. It’s still fast food, but it was pretty tasty.

Steak N Shake itself is a midwest tradition. Thin flat burgers pressed into a grill, shakes, and thin fries deep fried until crunchy and hot. They also have hand dipped shakes that are light years better then anything you’ll get at a fast food restaurant.
As for the Morton location… We eat there fairly regularly and service is generally good but when you have teen age waiters and waitresses you get your bad visits from time to time.
