I first went to Mt Baldy Lodge in 2006 and just spent a night in cabin 7 last weekend in 2016. I loved the lodge and cabins 10 years ago and it was just as lovely this time around. The lodge has 8 cabins you can rent. We have stayed in #4 and #7 and the latter was a more private experience because #4 faces the fun area where there is volleyball, the pool and lots of kids. Cabin 7 is perfect for a couple. This time they’ve added Directv, which we didn’t need. :) It looks like the roof had been redone recently as well. But the rest was as we remembered it. Rustic but with some modern conveniences. The weather was perfect! Hot down below in Upland but lovely in Baldy. At less than 5,000 feet elevation, it’s the perfect summer place for those in the Inland Empire. The best part was the food. We didn’t remember it being so good but it was sooooo good. We had chili nachos, a grubber(burger), potato skins, steak bits, bowl of chili for meals while we were there. And both had breakfasts that were wonderful. 5 stars for the lodge food! The only downer for the trip was the band. Suzie and the Cruisers were playing vintage rock but their front woman had the angriest scowl and no stage presence and the drummer changed temp multiple times through 3 different songs. So disappointing. It’s hard to make me fall asleep during«pipeline.» But Baldy lodge has that old charm that makes it timeless and worth going to. And stay in a cabin. Great location and so much fun!

Great environment on the patio. Perfect place to have a cold beer. Service was friendly and prompt. Church bells ringing in distance were icing on the cake.

Ate at the restaurant for lunch on Sunday. Fun, rustic, and quaint atmosphere. Food was okay. My chili was delicious. The burgers were dry and over cooked. The meat seemed like fake or imitation ground beef. Our server was young and friendly. Service was very slow. Had to ask for menus, silverware, refills, and the bill /check. Glad we tried it. Checked it off our list. Most likely will not return.

My bf and I had dinner at the lodge for the first time yesterday. We waited 45 minutes for a table and waited 15 minutes just to get acknowledge. They have a waiting list where you have to put your name down and wait to be seated, but they rarely look at the list. They just look at the amount of people that just come in the restaurant and then will realize they have a list. Now the food… its not that the great. I expected a little more I guess. Typical burger and the salmon was overcooked. The best thing, if I have to say, would be the ambiance; we happen to make for the live band music and that was pretty cool.

We went hiking on a nearby trail and only wanted to use the bathroom to clean up a bit but we liked the laid back atmosphere and a glance of the menu shows good dishes at reasonable prices so we stayed and had dinner. The service was efficient and quick paced. They were probably short staffed and that’s okay, time is money after all. Unfortunately, we didn’t stay long enough for the live music to begin so I’ve got to come back for that. I got the Steak bits appetizer which was very good. They went well with the beer. I got the Choke chicken sandwich. I thought it was going to be a small sized meal but I was wrong, with the fries and all I could only eat half of it. The Clam chowder soup was good. I wish they didn’t add the bacon and cheese though, yuck. The girlfriend had the Daily special, which was the steak tenderloin. She liked it but I thought it was too tough even though she asked for it medium.

I get it… hikers, bikers, travelers, and tourist, but come on, powder lemonade for $ 3.75. Besides Horrible services,(THISPLACEISABSOLUTELYOVERPRICE) the girls seem to have some usuals but all customers should be treated equally. The wait was about 20 minutes, 20 more for water, and then our waiter takes two other tables that came after us. The place is extremely rundown. If you’re charging your customers $ 14 – 20 for a burger, at least invest in your establishment. The chairs are ripping apart, the place is extremely dirty, the décor can use some upgrading. On another note, ALL The girls working there are counting money, ringing people out, AND making drinks – yet not one single one of them washes their hands. We literally witness one of the older girls cashing someone out, and then simply placing a bacon strip in someone’s drink. We ended up at another dinner. Horrible. Horrible. Hikers beware I think this has been my longest review!!! It’s seriously gross, and badly manage.

After the long hike up Mt. Baldy, the food at the lodge hit the spot! Also, after not having cell signal for hours, the free WIFI at the Lodge was nice!

I have been coming here for about 10 years, and it has always been a great place to eat and drink and have a good time. Sunday blew my mind though, $ 26 dollars and 22 or 24 for a pitcher of beer that is coming from upland and Claremont, small micro breweries that I visit often, this is just outrageous! To go drink they have lost a customer

Was here on a cold winter day in January and the ambience cannot be beat. A warm crackling fireplace and good food and great service all work together to make for a lovely time had by all.

Most amazing restaurant with amazing service and great food. The veggie grubber is incredible. Despite he trek to the restaurant, the restaurant and its service is well worth it. Great to stop at during, before, or after a bike ride or run. Beautiful location.

Was in the mood to try something random and hadn’t tried before. My brother wanted to take me up here to finally check out the Baldy area and he’d liked this restaurant. …Meh. The ambiance, the service, the food. Meh. It’s what the name says– a mountain lodge. Very dive bar-ish in ambiance. We stood around waiting for a few minutes because we weren’t sure if it was self seating, since the party ahead of us had been waiting. Oh, we’re supposed to write our name down. …kay. But it took someone 5 – 6 minutes and several passes by us to relay that message. Was a little wtf about that but okie doke. Was sat promptly. The server was nice and prompt with bringing out drinks, food, check, returning with the slips, but not very attentive during the meal. Also something mentioned in other reviews– they’re busy socializing with the locals. Which is fine, but make sure everyone is set at your tables before socializing. However, the food came out really quickly, so that was a plus. I got the«choke chicken» sandwich(artichoke, sun dried tomatoes, parm) with fries. It was okay. As someone else mentioned in another review, «ordinary» would describe it. I should have tried a burger instead… Loved the fries and(my brother’s) potato salad though. Did not love the 14 dollar price tag on such a mediocre sandwich. :/ My brother got the steak sandwich with potato salad, which he loved. Cooked just how he wanted and was nice and tender. Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it. I would be open to trying it out again, but getting something else– maybe a burger instead.

I’ve been here a couple of times. I love their food. The food is American style, some is plain and some is gourmet. The place itself feels like you’re in a warm cabin. The staff is friendly. The price is decent. They do have window view of the mountain, or you can sit by the fireplace, and they also have a screen for those who wanna watch the football game or such. Not all the time, but there are times when they have live music — such as indie folk band Covering songs. It’s a diverse crowd, it’s clean, it can become crowded, but still enough room to be comfortable. I’ve tried several things off the menu and I enjoyed everything. I recommend this place to eat at mt. Baldy.

There’s one thing more terrifying than the Mt Baldy hike; not doing it, and living a life of suburban fear and underachievement. That said, while the Devils Backbone may be scary at times if your idea of a hike is doing the loop at Elysian, this is an incredible SoCal experience. Though maybe not on the hottest day of the year. The greatest thing of all is stopping by the Mt Baldy Lodge on the way out… A little reminder of what LA used to be like before everyone started obsessing about«organic» food, and obsessing about their own myopic idea of their lives. The place is a treat. You must stop by. And on Saturday they have a band.

Not only is the food amazing and the drinks decently priced, we stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin for 2 days. One day it was rainy and cloudy so it felt soooo cozy, and the next day was sunny and we got to open the windows and enjoy the pool. It was the most beautiful and quiet weekend I have had in quite some time. And the party gets hopping at the bar sometimes and it’s so much fun! Volleyball with the locals. It was just great. We walked around a few streets and admired the scenery. The owner is a doll and the staff all feel like friends. I will definitely be returning next time I am in town. Side note: I cried when I left. No joke. It was so calm and beautiful up there I hated leaving :/

Amazing place to stay if you intend to spend a couple days on the mountain. The cabins were clean, simple and quaint. Running hot water, clean sheets and bathroom — nothing gets better than that on the mountain! They only have a couple handfuls of cabins, but we lucked out and got one. It’s about $ 109/night which I would say is reasonable given it’s steps away from the lodge and a very quick drive or walk to trails. So on the lodging front — really recommend it! We also enjoyed the bar/restaurant area of the lodge. We didn’t eat dinner there, but the menu looks perfect for a famished hiker. We enjoyed drinks at the bar, which were pretty typical. Not a huge selection of alcohol, but they have your basics. YOUMUSTTRYTHEBLACKBERRYPIE — it was delicious and I am not even big on pie. And you know how usually the pie/ice cream ratio at most establishments is sad and you’re usually fighting over ice cream with the person you’re sharing with? Yeah, they’re generous with the ice cream at the lodge :) We checked out at 11am, but on Sundays they open for breakfast at 9am so we got to enjoy that before checking out. I got a standard 3 egg breakfast and my boyfriend got the blueberry french toast. Both hit the spot. You gotta love when a place does classic breakfast right. Crispy bacon & hash browns — we were super content! Prices were reasonable too. It’s easy to find right off the main road on your way up the mountain. Do the mountain justice and spend a night there, you won’t be disappointed at Mt Baldy Lodge!

Came here after spending the morning hiking to Timber Mountain. This place is right across the street from the Mt Baldy Visitor Center. Tired and hungry we saw this place and decided it was the easiest spot to grab some food before heading back down the mountain. Came around 2 pm on a Saturday and it was packed. We had to wait 15 – 20 minutes before getting seated. Once seated, the 4 of us were sat at a 3 person table, which we agreed to because we didn’t want to wait any longer. The waitress was nice, she apologized for our wait, she had a table of 30 she was trying to serve at the same time. We ordered: — chili cheese fries as an app — shroom and swiss burger with onion rings — everyone else got burgers and sandwiches — side of potato salad — hot chocolate Everyone enjoyed their food it seems. The burger was good, nothing special. Seems like the only spot on the mountain to eat at. Parking can get a little tough when it’s busy. Cute spot though after a long hike!
