Its cool that it is a basement pub and seems very lively. Not sure I would come back with kids. We also had to wait a long time for our food, not sure what happened. Hopefully we will have better service next time.

I ordered a plate of hot wings and as I took my first bite I discovered that they were ice cold and raw in the middle. I asked for a new order. When the manager brought them back I discovered that they were my previous order, just refried and resauced again minus the first frozen wing I bit into. I know this because I have worked in restaurants before, and the bartender told me. Manager offered no discount, free beer, or even an apology about something that could have made me violently ill. Service was good from bartenders but I won’t be going back.

Quaint atmosphere with lots of menu choices. Burgers were clearly handmade; perfectly flavored and cooked. My son ordered his medium rare & I ordered mine well done… both were spot on! Fries were hot and well seasoned. Hubbys steak was surprising good. Waitresses were very nice and checked back several times to make sure we were happy with everything. Will definitely return!

We were originally planning to try out another restaurant in the area, but it was under refurbishment so we headed into the Frog and Monkey because the name was intriguing as was the fact that it was underground. I’m glad we did because we had a great experience! We had fried mushrooms as an appetizer and while they were presented differently than I had seen before they had a great flavor. The French onion soup was very good. I wasn’t expecting a lot from my steak, but it was excellent– very well cooked, well seasoned, and of good quality. Good meal for a good price The only negative to this place is the restroom. It is tiny and not particularly clean. Even so, we would return if we were in the area again.

The food is fine. I am disappointed that they don’t have any lunch specials. It’s hard to find something on the dinner menu that fits into a lunch budget.

We have been coming here for years. It had slowly gone down. Friday night I had the worst meal. And no service. I have never witnessed such a poor excuse for a waitress ! I will never go back.

Loved this place! Very nice staff and waitress, i decided to order the blue max and it was the best decision ever made! The burger had so much flavor and went together so well! My friend had the spaghetti it was very good and good taste but a little pricey for the portion, would definitely go back!

I have nothing but good to say about this restaurant. They have an awesome selection of beer and wine, the servers are always on top of their game and you get your food and/or beverage to you in a reasonable time. If you go there, you definitely need to try something that has their beer batter, like those epic fish and chips. The food is super fresh and doesn’t lack in quality. It’s one of my favorite places in Downtown Mount Dora, a definite most if you come to the area.

Often visit this place, love that it’s in a basement actually. Adds a more local or hometown feel. Almost like the show«How I Met Your Mother.» It’s clean and service is satisfactory. Food is great and I have never experienced a wait. I will return again, one of the wife’s favorites. Careful using the stairs!

Food is good(if it ever comes to your table) takes at least 20 – 40 min to get your food and usually the order is wrong sue to servers being in outer space and not listening to what you order — I’ve tried this place 5 times now and the same exact result everytime — if your hungry and looking for good service walk on by!

I love this place. It’ll set you back a few bucks, but it is a great pub atmosphere, and an amazing beer selection. The food is pretty good, with my favorite edemame of all time. I like the place so much that my wife set up my 40th birthday at the owners second restaurant downtown prior to it even opening. Although I never ate that night, everyone there said they loved the food. This is a must go location in downtown Mt. Dora.

This place is in a basement. Some might say that not having cell service is a bad thing, but I welcome it! So many times have I witnessed people going out to eat together and just playing on their phones the whole time. Talk to each other, that’s one of the reasons you go out to eat! Stepping off my soap box now… the food is decent, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is chill. I’ve been here a couple of times and enjoyed it.

Excellent service, great burgers and a good selection of beer! I had the Black and Blue burger… it was juicy and had a very generous amount of bleu cheese and bacon. Also… encountering good beer I have never had is a serious bonus!

I struggled with how many stars to give this place. I’ll start off by saying that I thoroughly enjoyed my food. I ordered the black and blue burger with fries on the side. The burger was cooked the way I asked it to be(medium well) and it was really delicious, as were the fries. However, I did ask for the burger to be plain, no lettuce, tomato, pickle, etc. as well as no bun. Simple, I thought… but the burger came out with everything on it. They also have a fairly decent craft beer selection here, which is always a plus for me. The reason I will probably never go back here was the service. There were plenty of wait staff working for the size of the place, and it wasn’t packed. I think our table was served by every single girl working there, with not one of them having a clue what was going on. It took us over 20 minutes to be served a beer, with one girl receiving the wrong beer. At least another 15 after that to put our orders in. Two of the girls I was with never received their water they asked for.(Side note: their water is awful). We told one of our waitresses we wanted our checks to all be separate early on when she took our order to make things easier for her, but when we asked for our checks she had to stand at the table and ask everyone what they had because she never bothered to separate them when we asked her to. And to top it off, when she came back with the checks, they were still wrong. She kept saying«I’m sorry» and must have heard that at least 20 times… not an exaggeration. There’s nothing like horrible service to ruin your lunch and experience of a place.

I thought this place was really cute. We were stopping by for a drink & and apps. We started with the beer battered mushrooms(*a must!) and the brussetta. My boyfriend tried a mix beer while I tried a german wheat. Its was ok. The neat aspect was that its underground.

On a recent visit to Mt. Dora, we ducked into a pub called The Frog and Monkey for a quick lunch. We liked The Frog and Monkey but there are too many other cute little places we would try in Mt. Dora before heading back for Pub fare. Nothing too special here. The dining area is based around a square bar leading me to believe this is definitely more pub than restaurant. We snagged a corner table on a busy Saturday afternoon as we read over the menu. The menu consists of typical English Pub fare like Bangers and Mash and Cottage Pie, but we also found some sandwiches, burgers and flatbread pizzas that looked good. I ordered the Portabella Panini with a side salad instead of fries. The mushrooms were marinated and grilled with provolone cheese, bell peppers and onions on toasted bread. It was like a Philly Cheesesteak without the steak. On the side was a ramekin of horseradish sauce that really kicked the sandwich up a notch or two. Yum. Chad ordered the Margarita Flatbread Pizza. It was interesting because I have never known a traditional Margarita Pizza to have capers on it, but this one did and Chad liked it. Tomatoes, onions, capers and basil covered with mozzarella, provolone and Romano cheese. He didn’t swoon over it but he liked it enough to eat the whole thing. We enjoyed the atmosphere but we were happy to leave when we did as a duo of singers were taking to a small stage in another corner of the restaurant and it was becoming very loud quickly. For such a small space, it was too loud to enjoy lunch.
