Honestly some of the dresses WERE really beautiful and depending on the event it may be very fitting(black tie events), but when I went there to search for a prom dress one of the ladies was nasty to my friend and I and made us feel a bit awkward about sizing. I probably would not return. After trying on three dresses, my friend and I left immediately. Overpriced and could find similar dresses for much cheaper at department stores.

My mother purchased 4 dresses here and recommended I purchase my maid of honor dress here for my brother’s wedding. They had a great selection and were extremely knowledgeable and were overall helpful, however alterations were a COMPLETE nightmare. I found the perfect dress, went in for a fitting and went back assuming I would take it home or still have a few minor alterations left to make. The dress was as if it had not been altered ATALL. It was huge everywhere and I did not lose any weight. It was extremely baggy in the chest area and when I brought it to the attention of the seamstress, she said there was nothing that could be done about it and that my breasts were too small for the dress(I am not that small). I have been a bridesmaid at least 30 times so I know what can be done and what can’t be done to a dress. This seamstress basically blamed it on the fabric and said there was nothing that could really be done, but she would try. With less than a week left for my brother’s wedding and Mt. Kisco being so far, I didn’t want to risk relying on this woman. I was quoted $ 125 for alterations but seamstress attempted to charge $ 250. The store honored the quoted price of $ 125, which I appreciate, but still not sure what I paid for besides a hem. I took the dress to a freelance seamstress who has worked in bridal most of her life and will be paying an additional $ 75 in alterations, but it beats buying a brand new dress, which I almost ended up doing. The seamstress I found is taking in the dress in the chest area(elephant’s trunk seamstress said this was impossible) and everywhere else and said the elephant’s trunk seamstress was either too lazy to remove the beaded appliqué to make the proper adjustments and then sew it back on or was not skilled enough to do so. She also pointed out that the straps were extremely uneven(which they were!). My cousin bought her dress here for the same event as well and had similar issues and took hers to a local bridal store for alterations and when they assessed it, they pointed out that the dress had been taken in only on one side!!! She also paid $ 125 for alterations at elephant’s trunk and will have to pay someone else an additional $ 75. What is the point of wearing a beautiful(and expensive) dress if it doesn’t fit your body properly and doesn’t look right? I think that this is unacceptable for an establishment that sells dresses at this price point. Also, when my mother was measured for one of the dresses she purchased, they told her she was a much larger size than what she actually is. It accidentally came to light that the larger size was the only size left in stock. Cutting down a dress much larger than your size results in more expensive alterations. My mom is too nice to complain but I think it would have been better service to be honest about it and let the customer decide whether she wants to purchase the dress elsewhere or go with the larger size and expensive alterations. I don’t know about my mom, but I won’t be returning.

I visited The Elephant’s Trunk for the first time today with my mother in search of a mother-of-the-groom dress. The staff was knowledgeable, helpful and honest and I was beyond pleased with the selection of dresses. She had tried on a dress that she liked at another shop, but I urged her to visit the Elephant’s Trunk«just to be sure» and I’m so glad we went! The more my mother tried on, the more the saleswoman became attuned to what she liked and what would flatter her figure, and she presented a dress that was absolutely perfect: sophisticated, flattering and within budget. My mom lit up like a Christmas tree when she caught a glimpse of herself in it and I’m so happy she found something that makes her feel(and look) so beautiful. ETA: The dress selection and buying experience was great. The alterations experience, however, has been less than stellar. The dress required a custom alteration to the top which cost additional money but was necessary to accommodate her bust. It became apparent that the dress must not have been examined upon receipt by the shop as when my mom arrived for her first fitting, it did not fit up top. The owner deduced that the dressmaker made a mistake and failed to include it by comparing it to the floor sample and taking measurements. He was apologetic and nice about it, but my mother lives 2 hours away & the appointment was a waste of time as a replacement dress had to be reordered. Appointment two went smoothly. The proper dress arrived and the required alterations were noted. Mom came down for her final fitting today. The dress fit well, but we noticed some odd threads/puckering along the sweetheart neckline that we hadn’t seen at the prior appointment. The seamstress insisted that it was that way before due to the horsehair the dressmaker uses along that particular seam. It just didn’t look right, so I pulled the identical dress off of the sales floor to see if that was the case and no — the line should be very clean. We showed her the difference between the two dresses and she said that she would personally attend to the matter. We were surprised that she wasn’t the one completing the initial alterations as she is the only member of the alterations team we interacted with. At any rate, it was very sloppy work and the completed alterations should be approved by a manager before presenting them to a customer. My mother works full time, and must now return to the shop for a fourth time the week before the wedding. I’d buy another dress from them, but I’d never choose to have the alterations completed there again.

This review was written by my mother who does not have Unilocal,I am the daughter who got married and can attest to her review and that she looked stunning! «After looking EVERYWHERE in my area for a stylish, yet appropriate mother-of-the-bride dress, I stumbled upon this lovely store online. After looking at all the lines they offer, I knew my dress was there! I immediately called for an appointment and made the 3 hour drive the very next day. I was greeted by Rafael and Suzanne who were amazing and very knowledgeable. I gave them my price cap and they were great about sticking to that. I tried on at least 12 dresses! More than any other store I had been to previously. I couldn’t believe it. after going to store after store and seeing the same old Mother of the Bride dresses and looking online at the major department stores, here I was looking at all these gorgeous dresses that I had never seen before. After I found THE dress, I wanted a particular color and neckline. They contacted the designer and got all the info I needed to seal the deal. Because of their expert measuring, all my dress needed was hemming. And the fee for alterations was very reasonable considering all the work the seamstress had to do. My daughter just got married and I felt so special in my dress. I could not be happier! Elephant’s Trunk is now my go-to store for ANY future formal events I may have in the future. I wouldn’t even bother going anywhere else. It’s a 3 hour drive for me. Totally worth it. It is a MUSTVISIT.»

1 star is overrating this business. I called before I came in asking if I need an appointment to try on bridesmaid dresses the woman on the phone said«no you can just come in and try them on.» As soon as my friend and I walked in we were greeted by who I believe was the owner(male). His first question was«are you looking for traditional bridesmaid dresses because I don’t have that here?» If I wasn’t with my friend I would’ve told him not to bother and would’ve walked out. He showed me a Jovani dress that was $ 400 and told me that all of his dresses start at that price. He also said that if I wanted to go with him to the Jovani store that he would bring us for $ 250. I am not sure how they stay in business because as soon as I walked in I knew it was going to be bad. It was a waste of a drive and our time. He advised me to check out the reviews of other bridal salons before I went and I’m more upset that I didn’t check out the reviews for Elephant Trunk so I wouldn’t have wasted my time. He was so rude and condescending. The experience was surreal in a bad way. Obviously, I do not recommend this business.

DONOTGOHERE! If I could give a 0 rating I would. This store is overpriced, and not worth going to. One dress in this store was $ 5,000 and we found the same dress for $ 130 at Macy’s. The lady who helped us told her it was her second day there after working there over 14 years ago. Who says that? She was talking more about herself than actually helping us. And she didn’t listen to anything I wanted, she had her own opinions. Also the other lady who helped us had a really bad attitude, some blonde lady. And lastly the man who I guess is the owner said they carry plus sizes, then when we went to check out the plus size dresses he said they don’t have it in sizes 14 and up. Isn’t that plus sizes??? OVERPRICED, WASTEOFTIME. Never going here and I don’t recommend this place unless you want to spend $ 5000 on a worthless piece of dress and people who can’t help you. Thanks for nothing.

Great service by all staff but they need more people to help the customer with the fittings. We were immediately greeted and brought over to look through their catalogue of dresses for prom. They had a great selection of dresses to choose from and many colors. I would go there again.

I purchased a gown for my son’s wedding from the Elephant’s trunk and had a horrible experience. I had paid for the gown in full and was told that the shawl was included and that they couldn’t give it to me until after their trunk show. When I finally came to have the fitting a month before the wedding, they told me that they sent the shawl back to Paris. The only reason I loved the gown was because of the shawl. They weren’t sure if they could get the shawl for me The shawl showed up 2 days before the wedding and it was clearly not made from the same company that the dress was made by in Paris. Everything about the shawl was different than the one I wanted 4 months prior. I had no choice but to take it because my son’s wedding was two days away. The gown was very expensive and although I insisted that I paid it in full several months before, even after all the aggravation they gave me they still insisted I pay more for the shawl. They then charged me on top of that 195 dollars for the tailoring of the gown which in the end, at the wedding, I kept tripping over because it was too long. Now I have to pay to have it altered again. I would never go back there again. They were incredibly rude. It definitely made me not feel good wearing it on the day of my son’s wedding. However, the wedding was beautiful anyway!

This time around, I didn’t end up purchasing anything. But the attendants are incredibly helpful and good at finding your size and style. Customer service is top notch and the garment quality is great, compared to other stores where the fabrics don’t hold up well at all. Always come here to check on things before a special occasion, their accessories can be fitting if you’re in a last minute pinch as well.

This is the best place to buy something different, tasteful, original and classy. I recently bought an Ania Zofia gown for my daughter’s wedding. The salespeople are so willing to work with you, not at all pushy as in some ships I’ve been in. Today I was in to look around and purchased shoes and a bag. The shoes are a little pricey, but original, comfortable and the owner of the shoe area knows what looks best. I’ve bought several gowns here, as did my Sister. definitely a pleasant place to shop. Gown prices vary, there is something for everyone.

I wasn’t a buyer personally but I came in here with a couple friends of mine, one of whom is getting married. I think a lot of people get married here in Mt. Kisco, judging by the size and quality of the church and how well this bridal shop seems to be outfitted. One of the guys upstairs in the tux rental has really sweet magnetic eyeglasses that totally blew my mind. Overall, this place reeks of quality. The staff in the tuxedo rental were very friendly and played along heartily with my inappropriate jokes at the expense of the groom.
