The food was actually really great. The French toast was thick and really flavorful, some of the best I’ve had. Eggs were cooked perfectly. The hashbrowns were a little past crispy but still tasty. Service was good enough and I had plenty of refills! I would come back to this diner.

The food was so amazing and our waitress was great, very attentive. The biscuits and gravy are so delicious that I’m upset I didn’t take one to-go!

The worst service and food quality of any diner in south jersey… Ordered an omelet and toast with a side of bacon. Took 50 minutes to come out, and it was cold. The toast wasn’t even toasted. It was white bread with butter slapped on it. NEVERGOHERE!!!

Fisrt visiting in the week day morning with my guest, I ordered 5 coffees, and two apple juices, two French toast, Western ormets, and sussge gravy and short stack of pancake. food was ok, waitress brought a check, She rang everything up as individually, it costs me more than their club breakfast, which is including coffee or juice and meats. She said that«i did not know you were ordering the club memu». However, I pointed and read from the club menu section, when I placed the order. so she ring them up again as club menu. The check came out about $ 5 plus some changes shorter. She still charging us full price of the club menu even though we all missed the meats that came with the Club menu. She kept insisting that is my fault. She told me that she has been working there for 10 years! I DO think she needs more training!

The food was horrible, pancakes were filled with dough. I damn ther choked. Asked for onions and peppers in my breakfast potatoes and they placed them on top rather then mixing them in. Asked for scrambled eggs and the were a little runny. The top of the ketchup bottle was super nasty. NEVERAGAIN. I would say this restaurant is at the top of my list for one of the worst. Should have went to wawa and got a breakfast sandwich. Ugh… Pros: parking available, friendly waitress & no wait

Another good lunch at Sage! I met a friend here this afternoon for lunch. We usually meet at Sage for breakfast or lunch, and it’s always good. Our server was attentive and pleasant(I believe her name was Charlene) without being intrusive. We both got Greek salads, and as usual, they were delicious. As a tip, ask them to chop it — makes it easier to eat. I don’t understand the disappointment in the food here. It’s a diner. My suggestion is to get diner-like food. Do you order Chinese food at an Italian restaurant? I’m never disappointed in the grilled cheese or poached eggs. And the fries are always delicious. I will be going back!

We were greeted by being told that it’s $ 5 minimum order per person. Real classy. Our waitress was good but we needed some warm water for our crying baby and multiple waitresses passed by us even as we asked for help. The food is very subpar. The matzoh ball soup was the worst I have ever had.

Please read this review in it’s entirety because it contains very important information that can help you decide whether you want to eat at this establishment. My name is Terri and I was hired on 11⁄16 by the owner Gus to be a manager. He gave me EXACTLY two and a half hours to get home, get changed, and return to the diner in order to start working. I told him that I had another job and needed to give my employer at least a weeks notice. He told me that I would have to quit my current job if I was interested in taking the job at Sage Diner. Normally I would NEVER just leave an employer hanging but it was imperative that I take this job because of financial reasons. That first night it didn’t take long for me to figure out that the place was very poorly managed, poorly maintained, and the employees poorly treated. I was born into a family who owned a very well-known restaurant in Trenton, NJ. I have managed bar/restaurants for over 20 years so I’m quite knowledgeable about the hospitality business. The owner sat in his office downstairs watching the cameras and calling me on the phone every five minutes to tell me stupid little trivial things that I have known for years. His micro-managing was counterproductive and just plain annoying. My second night there I began to learn that not only did the owner watch the cameras very carefully(which by the way doesn’t bother me since I would never do anything I’m not supposed to do), but I also learned that the busboy named Donato was a spy and a snake. The servers complained to me that their every move was monitored by Donato and would snitch to the owners the next day. Many, many innocent people were fired because of this snake. They warned me to be extremely careful and try to get on his good side because he would lie just to get people fired. It gave him a sense of being powerful. As if that wasn’t enough, I was warned that the owner himself was a tyrant who would yell and scream at the servers in front of the customers. One server told me stories about how many times she left crying because of his abusive behavior. As a manager, I have learned to listen but not put much stock into what people say unless and until I actually see it for myself. Then the reality of what I was dealing with became very clear. One of the servers asked me if she could use the restroom in the lobby. My answer was, «Of course you can. Why would you ask me that?» She proceeded to tell me that the employees were only allowed to use a bathroom which was off to the side near the baked goods as you enter the diner. She said to me, «Haven’t you seen it yet?» With that I walked to the room which is marked«Office» and saw the dreadful condition of this room. It was dark, dingy, filthy and smelled like a sewer. I was horrified that anybody would have to use these facilities. Next came the biggest shock of all. The owner brought me a blank check for Rotor-Rooter because he said that they had a clogged drain and that I should expect someone from Rotor-Rooter to come and give an estimate to unclog the drain. Around 8:00 P.M. the guy got there and proceeded downstairs to where the clogged drain was. After several minutes he returned telling me that the drain was not just clogged, but there was fecal matter, urine and water from the toilets all over the basement floor. This is the same basement where the employees are forced to eat their meals because they are not allowed to eat like normal human beings at a table. The table that they eat at is approximately 10 feet away. Long story short, the owner paid to have the drain fixed but refused to pay for any remediation services. You can figure out the rest. I left the diner that night with a feeling of great compassion for those hardworking employees who need their jobs and the unsuspecting customers(victims) who patronize this diner and don’t have a clue about the conditions of this place. As far as the owners are concerned, they are without a doubt the most abusive, demeaning people anyone could ever patronize or work for. The treatment of their hardworking employees and the condition of their restaurant is not only inhumane but actually borders on being illegal. Needless to say, I don’t work there anymore.

Went here for the first time today and will most likely not return. The restaurant was not busy compared to the staffing. We were greeted with a very rude unwelcoming welcome by the host. After bringing our drinks the server walked away without taking our orders even though I said we were ready. When the food came, they forgot both mine and my husband’s sides, gave my daughter the wrong item and gave her french fries with her eggs even though we never asked for them, in addition my eggs were cooked wrong. Upon leaving we bought a cookie for my daughter, as soon as we opened the cookie in the car, the character that we on the cookie fell off showing that it was never attached to the cookie, just held in place by the wrapper.

Service was good but the food lacked flavor. From the apple juice, to the eggs, to the challah French toast(and it’s hard to make that flavorless). Won’t be back

Sucks! The cream chip beef tasted like flower! It came out cold. My son got scrambled eggs and they were under cooked. Looked like sunny side up eggs. Waitress was a snot! Never going back! There are many other places in the area that are far better then this place!

I was in New Jersey for several days for a rowing competition, and my rower who I roomed with and I asked a local friend of hers for a breakfast suggestion. She told us to come to Sage Diner, and we’re both very glad we did. The service was quick and very friendly, and the space itself was roomy and didn’t seem dirty. I stopped going to Ritter’s in Pittsburgh after I kept finding hair in my food, and Sage(despite being a classic diner) didn’t strike me as the sort of place where that would happen repeatedly. Everything on the menu was cheap, and the portions were of course quite generous. I had coffee, bacon, and potatoes, and my friend got Eggs Benedict. We both enjoyed our meals immensely, and neither of us got sick afterwards. I especially appreciated how the potatoes weren’t of the frozen variety but instead they were sliced freshly and fried. Also, the bacon wasn’t burnt to a crisp! I would come back here in a heartbeat if I was ever in the area again.

One of my favorite diners! I love their sandwiches and breakfast items. I’ve never had a bad thing on the menu. This diner also has online ordering which is awesome. I’ve had their various panini sandwiches for lunches and their veggie omelette for breakfast. Yummy!

Sage Diner was a cool little place, but everything I had was just too mediocre to give them a 4. The Matzo ball soup was good on the broth side but the matzo balls were just too bready. It should be slightly spongy and really absorb the flavor. My sandwich was good, but when you call if Cajun, I would just expect a little kick, it didn’t have any. I will add though, this is a pretty interesting example of a NJ Diner. Lots of random food and baked goods. Get breakfast and cake if you want!

My husband and I went a few times, since the diner is so close to us and convenient. The French onion soup is some of the best you will find in the area, but the rest of the food rates only 1 or 2, maybe 3 stars. The last time we went(February 2015) we were treated to our waitress telling us how terrible her life is, and how she needs to find a new place to work. We tried to ignore her but she kept right on talking! We both ordered the roasted chicken for our meals, and then we both competed for the bathroom at home later on that night. We won’t go back, no matter what.

I’m here almost every weekend. Staff is always super nice and welcoming. Open late hours for a late night meal. Has a dessert case for when you pay in front. Always clean and the service is super quick. Good price for a decent amount of food. People are always in here sitting, chatting, eating so you don’t get the awkward silent diner feel.

Ordered breakfast. Scrapple pre-cooked at least an hour before I ordered it. Dried out, tasteless. I guess that’s the secret to plate served in under 5 minutes. Won’t go back. Never had pre-cooked scrapple served to me in my life! Pretty awful.

Typical Jersey diner, except they aren’t open 24 hours. That’s disappointing. Service was decent. Food was good.

I visted based on all of the good reviews on Unilocal. I think the food was decent but pretty average. The Hostess was a little distracted chatting with coworkers when I arrived so I was standing a few awkward minutes waiting to be seated. The Diner is dated but that is what gives it it’s Diner charm. Everything was neat and tidy which was a plus. My waitress was friendly and accomodating and gave very good service. A small Bakery section is located at the entrance. I purchased a Black and White Cookie to go which was delicious.

Generic diner in a convenient location. Their matzo ball soup is not good, so please don’t bother ordering it. The wait staff is really nice and attentive, but the food is generic/blah– kind of what you expect from a mediocre diner. I have said it for their counterpart(the management owns the Jersey Diner in Cinnaminson), but in a state known for(and chock full of) diners, this one isn’t really worth going to.
