If you remember Brickyard/Breakroom/Any of the other possible names this location has had over the years, then you’re in for a surprise. After years of recycling the same old concept and slapping a new name/owner/staff on this location has left it kind of stale. So much that you could smell it in the building. Along with the stench, the new owners have gotten rid of the old concept and done some spring cleaning on this spot. The layout is the same with the big L shaped bar, tables in the main area, and the stage area off to the side. A fresh coat of paint really brightened things up and bring out the Caribbean beach bar vibe they’re going for. The owners are from the northeast and after chatting with them, it seems as though they wanted to put together a little island oasis in the form of a Mount Pleasant bar. I haven’t had much of their food, but what I did try, the tuna bites and cracked conch, were great. The conch was our favorite so we placed a second order because it was so good. Typically you only see conch in fritters around here, which does nothing for me. These are actually fried pieces of conch meat and they’re delicious. Sticking to their northeastern roots, they’re shipping in fresh Maine lobsters to serve up on Friday nights. I haven’t been in for it yet, but for $ 30, it’s on my list. I would recommend going a bit early for that because they usually have a reggae band on Friday evenings and it gets loud and is more bar like after that starts. I had mostly written this place off in the past, but now that I’ve seen all the changes and improvements they’ve made, it will definitely be a regular stop for me in the neighborhood.

I live in Brickyard Plantation and love the food in this little place. Nate in the kitchen does a superior job. For a neighborhood dive this is worth a shot on the way home or for a pretty good happy hour. We got wings and a Gyro(from the place next door) and enjoyed it a bunch. Need to bring your party as we did, and a good time with easy prices. I’ll be Back for this friendly atmosphere. Great place to watch football too

Steve and Susie are the best!!! i I. Have really enjoyed getting to know them. The food is fabulous. And once in a while, they will surprise you with courtesy bar treats. My favorite menus items are the cracked conch and house chips. Wanting to try the clam chowder as it’s the New England style, it’s my favorite.

78 Degrees West is where the former Brickyard Food and Spirits was located. The big issue Brickyard had was the smell in the air ducts… it honestly smelled like rotten eggs at times. The new owners fixed that issue, brightened up the walls and now offer a seafood based menu. Our bartender, named Rachel was excellent. This three star rating could go up to four stars or even five once I try the food and see if they’re going to provide any entertainment(which Brickyard did very well).

New owners not very inviting. Don’t play the jukebox if they are having a meeting with their interior bar designer it may get too loud. Also best prices in town $ 6.50 Fireball shots(if this was Manhattan)! Also they don’t split shots. However they do have one great bartender named Kerry the others watch your tab. I give this place until the end of football season until it is sold again.
