It was very clean, I saw the staff cleaning all the time. I didnt hear my neighbors or and noise in the middle if the night. They could update the bedspreads but the staff was really nice and accommodating. The breakfast was ok, it’s a continental breakfast so it what it is. Would stay again and worth the money.

The Mainstay Suites biggest selling point is location. Situated immediately on the Mount Pleasant side of the Cooper River Bridge the location is perfect for tourists and vacationers. The rooms are not large, but offer a washing machine, microwave, sink and basic elements needed for extended stays. There is a nice little walking bath in the back and a basic free morning breakfast that includes cereal, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, muffins, coffee, tea and juice. The staff is very nice, but the infrastructure is aged. New carpeting and updates to elevators and stairs may be in the works for the future. There is a small marketplace for late night snacks if needed. Overall, it is a nice basic hotel for a short stop over or long term stay in the Charleston area. Free Wifi as well.

Super friendly and helpful staff! They were very kind and accommodating the whole time we were there! The location is pretty good for getting downtown, it’s just across the bridge to the city(take an über car– best option!) or a little over a mile walk to Patriots point and the water taxi. Very convenient to have a mini kitchen in your room as well! Pool is only open seasonally which was the only down side.

If I could give this negative stars, I would. It was literally one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The desk staff was rude and unhelpful with no sense of urgency. I had cold showers — no hot water! The bathroom didn’t have a fan. The room was either stuffy or freezing with no comfort zone. The kitchenette was about the only decent thing. The bed was squeezed into a space that was too small, so there was only a nightstand on one side. I had to struggle with the door to get it to open and shut properly. The bathroom was dirty. The best thing they could do was refund half my money. DONOT stay here

The best thing about this place is the location. It’s easy to find, convenient to all of Mount Pleasant and to downtown Charleston. In fact, its convenience is what elevates it to a shaky 2 stars. I think that’s the best thing I can offer about it. Otherwise, it is pretty bad. Ok, it looks normal from the outside but inside? Faded and worn carpet, a musty odor, a front desk attendant that’s hard to locate. In fact, I stood at the front desk and tried to round up someone to no avail. So I called their main number while standing there and listened to the phone ring in front of me for 5 plus minutes. Ridiculous. Oh, and the«breakfast»? If you like wallpaper paste consistency oatmeal or stale tiny muffins, this is just the place for you. The room, generously called a «suite», was borderline nasty. Not clean, kitchenette ill equipped, one roll of toilet paper, two scratchy towels, with carpet you dared not walk barefoot on. And as a bonus? No maid service. Oh, they called it «limited maid service» which meant that over 4 days I didn’t have a maid come in ONCE! Not once. I had to take out my own trash, beg for towels at the front desk, and generally fend for myself. I don’t know about you but there’s a certain expectation that when you leave your room for the day and you comeback the bed is made, the towels and sundries are replenished, and the trash is gone. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for. I don’t want to have to make my own bed while traveling. If you’re desperate and there’s nowhere else available you might give it a try. Just don’t look for me there on my next trip.

This marks the very first time we left Holiday Inn Express(our travel hotel of choice) for another brand. Please note, it was out of necessity more than anything else. Feeling a little cramped @ HIE because we had two last minute additions to our traveling party, we began to search after our first night for a hotel where we could get two rooms for cheaper than we were paying. We came across Mainstay just yards away and discovered they has two bedroom suites with 3 tv’s, a kitchenette w/full sized fridge and a second bathroom. THREETV’s gave everyone over 10 the option to NOT have to watch Phineas & Ferb or a host of Disney Channel shows. Anyone traveling with small children know they commandeer the tv or throw a fit as the alternative option. One complaint would be the cable signal is terrible and frequently distorts the screen. May have something to do with nearby street construction. The extra bathroom made life worth living in a hotel room with two teenage girls. I honestly don’t know if I could have survived this leg of our trip without this feature. Seriously!!! Traveling with teen girls is a nightmare, as everything needs to be perfect just to leave the building. I would have shot myself for sure without a second bath. The full-sized refrigerator was just a bonus because we were on a world wind tour of restaurants while visiting Charleston. There would have been no room for all our leftover’s(which we often ate for breakfast or a late night snack) without it. Finally, the privacy of separate rooms was a REALLY nice bonus. The girls could talk and text all night without disturbing the younger boys who utilized the pull out sofa & tv in the living room, and mom and dad could«sleep» in peace!!! Breakfast is free but not very tasty, so we were happy to have leftovers. However, they offered other items in the evenings like cookies, popcorn and one night we were totally surprised by a small buffet. It included chips, cookies, mini corn dogs, beer, sodas and wine!!! The rooms are clean, but not spotless as we found a complaint or two here and there… but reasonable for the price point. The location is very convenient to Charleston as well as things to do in Mt. Pleasant. If you have children, I highly recommend visiting the Waterfront Memorial Park within walking distance of the hotel. LINK: If you are comfortable using hotel brands like Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn or Hilton Gardens… I think you will find this a very acceptable alternative if you need more space than a standard room. Oh, and Wi-Fi is free.

For the price in Mt Pleasant, this place is very good. We paid $ 80/night for a Saturday in late August. They have free internet, frig, sink, microwave. Plenty of channels on the TV. The morning breakfast is simple, but fresh and the coffee is pretty good. Recommended.
