Considering all the reviews that indicate that this place went really far downhill after my review, it does not surprise me to report that this place is now closed.

I had the buffet for dinner here last Saturday; it was over-priced($ 15.50 per person);food selection was boring/unoriginal/cliched: calderetta, pancit, crispy eggrolls, sinigang, chicken adobo,& some god-awful meat dish swimming in some pink sauce that looked like Pepto Bismol. There were also no servers to get us our drinks(the owner & family members were too busy tending to or standing idly watching this huge baptism party going on).I highly doubt I’ll come back here based on this experience. I felt bad for that huge party getting suckered into having to eat the boring and sub-par buffet food.

The Good: Edith’s Place has ample parking because it’s in a strip mall. It’s a large space with a ballroom dance floor and sit-down bar, which would be nice for a large party or reception. I think I met Edith and she is really nice. They serve ampalaya(bitter melon), mongo(mung bean stew), and Max’s-style fried chicken, which in my experience, are not common offerings at Filipino restaurants. They also offer ballroom dancing on certain nights. The Not-So-Good: I didn’t like the food because it was cold. This buffet doesn’t have glass overhangs with heat lamps/glass spit guards over the food. Even though it’s a Filipino buffet, crab rangoon was an option. The dessert options are limited to fruit salad and cut pineapple, which made me sad. I ordered extra dessert on the side, asking up front what the price was, only to get the bill and have the price be arbitrarily increased. It’s also inconvenient for me to make it out to Edith’s Place because I live in the city. Sayang… sorry Edith’s Place. I tried.

Went there on a Saturday night with my parents and family from out of town. There was dinner, dancing and a live band so we thought it would be a place to go for the night. For a Filipino establishment it was OK, but I do not know why Filipino tolerate mediocrity or anything less than good. The food was OK but nothing special. The Siopao(Bao) was more bread than anything else and it is assumed that you want pork when they bring it out,(much to my dads disappointment who can’t eat pork since he believes it makes is foot swell to the size of a grapefruit.) If you ask though they will bring you a chicken siopao. The sisig(random pork parts fried in a skillet) was actually good and served like it would be in the Philippines and not this mayo-meat concoction some places serve. The bar was terrible. We got there at 7pm and they ran out of San Miguel. This was such a travesty for the only beer left was bud light. So instead I order a jack&coke. No Jack. So then I order a Gin & Tonic which was 96% tonic. The only drink that is safe is what old Filipino men drink which is Johnny Walker on the rocks. Band was good and entertaining, but watch out if you go during night they will double charge you for eating and charge a $ 10 cover. Its backwards, I know, but keep this in mind when they include in your bill. So go there for the Filipino food and for maybe dancing if you want to indulge in the Chicago Filipino community, but I wouldn’t make this my go-to place for either. On a side note: Hope this doesn’t scare people from Filipino food. There are actual dishes that include meat and vegetables and not just skins and innards. But if your on a drinking binge the food drunk Filipinos eat is amazing just not good for your heart.

I went there with my family just because we were hungry after coming out the Marshall’s near by. When we entered it was very dark and no one was in there except the workers. The food was ok at best but been to way better Filipino/Asian restaurants. Don’t know why we ate in the dark.
