Scissors City

After initial confusion about my appointment (partly my fault, partly theirs for not being clear about hours) I re-​scheduled and was so happy with the service. Phyllis (manager/​owner?) was very accomodating with my last minute requests for manicure and waxing in addition to scheduled haircut. Yes, I was *THAT* customer due to a last minute wedding invite. So here’s my breakdown: Everyone was friendly, it was clean and comfy. Halina cut my hair exactly as I asked and it didn’t take forever and it looked GOOD! I’ll go back for a cut for sure. Manicure was OK, no great shakes, though the manicurist was very nice and we had a pleasant chat. Wax was good, relatively painless (I’m a big baby) but I can’t remember her name — nice blonde woman. So, since I live in Chicago, I’ll stick with my regular manicure/​waxing place, but I will go back for haircut and may try their colorist, too, if I ever find a job again. Overall, it was a good experience and I’d recommend them.

Carol is the Best Hair Styelist ever

I was a first time customer and had an awful experience. Would not go here again. I arrived and said hello, everyone in the salon just kept on with what they were doing without even acknowledging me. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment so I had no problem waiting, but 35 mins later and no one had still acknowledge me I stood up to walk out and someone said «Oh are you here for something»…finally I get in the back and they wash my hair with freezing water while telling me «we never get new customers»…gee I wonder why. Spent forever cutting my hair to give me a sub par haircut that when I got home ended up finishing the job myself because she missed a bunch… def would not come here again, awful customer service and sub par haircuts

Halina does great work, and her price is similar to what I paid years ago in another suburb.

I love Carol, she’s been doing my hair for the last 5 years and I’m so excited that she’s available to do my hair for my Wedding in September. Carol is a rockstar and a therapist all rolled into one. Every time I walk in to Scissors City I’m greeted with smiling faces and helpful advice. Give her a shot, take her advice and you won’t be sorry :)

Evelyn — you are the BEST at cutting my hair. You’ve never steered me wrong and have encouraged me to keep it long and beautiful. I always feel great after getting my hair cut, because you know what my hair can (and can’t) do.

Carol– you are an artist. I have searched the world over for a stylist who can do great cuts and is also an excellent colorist. I’ve found you and I’ll never let you go! I love the magic you made with my hair. The cut is so cute and hip and you listened to me when I said I liked my length. For that alone you deserve an award. But no– you have gone above and beyond. My lovely golden highlights are the perfect shade to compliment my coloring. Because it is Christmas, I will share you with the world. Otherwise I would have kept you my little secret forever ;)
