Inconsistent baking of bread loaves leaves me disappointed about half the time. Checking the bottoms of loaves can weed out the overlooked ones. This morning I opened an undercooked, doughy pumpernickel caraway loaf. I am disappoint.

I come to the Oven Bakery every morning, not just for the coffee and the pastries but for the excellent service! The coffee is roasted by Northbound, a local company, and the pastries are simply said are divine!

I ordered a variety of pastries for a breakfast meeting that were out of this world delicious! Warm when I picked them up, aromas to make your stomach growl and flavor combinations in the scones and muffins were wonderful. Don’t remember much about the meeting… Thanks to owner Tiphaine Ferchaud, she’s very pleasant and talented and operates a real gem in our Mt. Shasta food scene.

I live in Shasta and I absolutely love the oven bakery. They sell their bread and scones at other places in town so I always manage to get them no matter where I am. However I haven’t been into the shop(actual location) in awhile and was craving one of their cinnamon buns so I stopped by. But this time I was so disappointed. The lady working there was quick and seemed to be distracted, right as I was about to order her phone went off and she answered and just started talking on the phone right in front of me, not that it was a big deal to me really… but I ordered the cinnamon roll and asked her if she could hear it up in the oven behind her and then she denied rudely and just said flat out«no I can’t.» …which made me really uncomfortable because there’s been a number of times I’ve asked them to throw something in their already hot oven for me and the employees were more than happy to. So at that point I didn’t even want it because I felt like I was just being disrespected, then she said there was a $ 5 charge if I used my debit… which I’ve used there before on a scone, again, no charge. And she just stared at me so I walked out. Super uncomfortable experience… maybe it was an off day but I’m just going to keep my distance and buy their bread at Berryvalle instead. Baked goods are so delicious, customer service was upsetting.

Not really sure about the 5 star reviews on this one, though the bad review from Sherri P was quite unfair. There were some sweet and savory scones and sticky buns, but the strawberry/choc chip one that we had was very dry. Coffee was brewed style, very basic. The breads they had listed look good, but we didn’t try any this visit. No place to sit or hang and it looked a little sparse.

We are visitors from Silicon Valley and from the day we stumbled upon The Oven Bakery in Mount Shasta, we have been going back daily for pastries and bread. Awesome scones, cookies, sticky buns, muffins, croissants and sourdough breads. Since we are staying in a place without a full kitchen, one of the days I bought the freshly made bread, warm and hot out of the oven, added some good cheese to it, broiled it and ate this with some fruit and salad on the side. It was a lunch fit for a queen. If you have a chance to visit, do try the maple scones, they are beyond delicious and… they are super yummy! I love love love this place. I wish they would open in silicon valley like in Sunnyvale MILPITAS Fremont etc

Wonderful breads! My favorite is pizza night where you get to order in the morning and choose between veggie or meat pizzas! They are the best pizza ever,!!!hH

I came here hoping that the owner would carve a cake for my husband’s birthday… And she sure did. What a lovely lady and what a wonderful cake. We ordered a chocolate cake, and we got a decadent, delicious, chocolate cake. Being from San Francisco you get so used to delicious goods, but let me tell you, this cake was better than any other chocolate cake I’ve ever had. Thank You for being here

Started the morning off here with a nice cup of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and a buttery berry turnover. What a treat to have such a bakery gem here in Siskiyou county. Business was kinda of slow which allowed for a nice chat with the owner. She has something special here…:) Any of her baked goods are worth getting. Again, butter and wood baking go together like steak and wood grilling…:)

This place is phenomenal. The baker is french and she knows her stuff, the breads, gluten free or not, the selection of croissants and other tasty pastries made with the best ingredients. You can even order pizza on Fridays. I read other reviews not as favorable and I have to say those folks may be had altitude sickness or they reviewed other establishment by mistake

The Oven Bakery is exceptional. They’ve got numerous vegan sourdough loaves. This is authentic European-style stuff made in a wood-fire oven, and most of their loaves are made without white flour. I especially recommend the Pumpernickel Caraway Whole Grain Sourdough, which is one of the last things out of the oven on their bread-baking days(Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday), and is generally available by about 3:30PM, still warm from the oven. This place is very clean and well-managed, and I’ve never had a better loaf of bread anywhere. If you’re heading up or down Interstate 5, it’s well worth the stop in Shasta for the bread alone.

Kind of a strange vibe when we walked in. All we wanted was coffee, but they didn’t even have soy milk so we had to drink it black. Not much in the pastry case.

Amazing savory scones and croissants!!! I’m so happy we found this tiny but amazing place. Scones are not as good when it’s more than a day old, but when you go on the day it comes out, omg it’s so delicious. Their Friday pizzas are also fresh as well. It’s a gem!

My European friends love their bread. That’s big because, in general, American bread sucks. Their pastries are even European tested and approved. Whatever they do, they do it right.

Walked my dog down to the shop. Owner and co-worker outside open building doors, smoking. Tied my dog to nearby pole, went to walk in, one individual said«they were closed, come back in ten minutes»! Are these people in Mt. Shasta all«stoned», or mentally defective?

Oven Bakery is bakes some of the best whole grain sourdough baked bread in the State of California. It must be their wood oven! Their pastries are really high quality too. There is a bench outside to sit, and enjoy the passers by. Nice owner and employees.

I love this bakery. During summers, there is a farmers market in downtown shasta from 1−4pm and there is this french woman who sits in this tent right beside her car selling these huge and delicious cookies and tasty treats. When shes actually at her store, a few blocks down the road, she is cooking pizzas made in the bigggest oven possible-its extremely hot in there, and you can smell everything being made-delicious. My favorite thing to buy there is the ginger cookies and chocolate chip!!! My new favorite bakery of california. I HIGHLY recommend this place especially on friday’s because the woman bakes pizzas then and has a few types to choose from and its outta this world!

The best pastries on the I-5 corridor from Ashland to SF! I love pastries and the ones that come out of their beautiful brick oven are to die for. Croissants(chocolate and almond too!), sticky buns, muffins, scones, and all kinds of breads, rolls, buns and some awesome pizza on fridays too! The staff and owner are delightful to say the least and the coffee is good too… not to mention a piano!

This place has been under new management for a while now. Everything is baked to perfection in a real wood burning stove. Giving the bread a very unique and delicious flavor. The staff is first rate. The owner is certainly a delight and not only will her pastries bring a smile to your face but she will as well. They have a large variety of baked goods.
