Food is great. Service is very helpful. Busy local place that is well worth the wait.

I had the belly buster for breakfast, two huge pancakes with eggs and choice of ham, bacon or sausage for 9 dollars. The pancakes were awesome, better than Ihop and huge to boot. The eggs were marginal and the sausage was good. The place looks a little shabby, but the food made it worth it. I would give our waitress a C for demenor and attitude, but her service was pretty good

We came here because my husband was in the Tulip Pedal bike ride. We showed up early, around 8 in the morning and it was packed, probably because the Tulip Festival was going on and people were getting a head start on the day. We still only had to wait about ten minutes for a table. We received our coffee and water quickly and were able to order quickly, our food was on our table in less than fifteen minutes. Pancakes were good, biscuits and gravy were good. Coffee was good. I will definitely come back if we are ever in this area again. They are also very family friendly, they gave my daughter crayons and a piece of paper to color on. I liked it here. :)

This place is awesome. It is your classic hole in the wall breakfast diner and i can’t say i have ever had a bad experience coming here. The portion sizes are insane and it’s always tasty. I go probably once a month, and take my friends along with me. The servers always remember who i am and joke about me being a Green Bay Packers fan. I love coming here, and never regret it.

Pretty typical story here… we went north for the Tulip Festival! After doing the typical tourist shtick and staying overnight nearby, I decided to give this place a try expecting that it would either be horrible or great since that is how the reviews seem to fall. We got great. This is a very small diner with limited staff and the wait times can be awhile but we expected that. After we signed our name to the waiting list, we waited about 20 minutes. I am fine with that because April is obviously a busy time with the festival going on. The waitress was fine… I kind of like the all business attitude anyway… she wasn’t rude to us… brought coffee cups and menus immediately and then rushed back with our caffeine. I had the chicken fried steak and the significant other had corned beef hash. Both came with a HUGE amount of hash browns and choice of bread. We chose the biscuit which was also huge. All the food was awesome. Anytime we come north again, this will be a MUST stop for us.

The food there could be good. I wouldn’t know. Because we got there at 1:45pm, and the sign said«Open». We waited for another 5 or so minutes until the waitress snarled«We’re closed!» at us as she was walking by. When I said the sign said open, she said«Well, we’re closed!». As we left, the sign still said«open». If a place is near to closing, a simple«sorry, we close in 10 minutes or so» goes a long way towards being polite. I would have been happy to go «oh, sorry, maybe next time, thank you.» But snarling«we’re closed!» when you’re not closed yet? That’s just rude — and shows there won’t BE a next time. Maybe the food is good. I don’t know. And it’s likely I’ll never know. First impressions are important, and the impression I got was rude waitstaff that can’t be bothered with customers.

Slowest service ever and one of the rudest, condescending waitresses that thought she was funny, but wasn’t. This place right from the get go, got my blood boiling. I will never be back!!! At least the tulips were gorgeous!

Worst customer service. Our waitress was loud and insulting to people in our group. Said we couldn’t count and that we took too long to decide. Food was bland and nothing to brag about. The place is run down and not clean. I can honestly say I will NEVER be back. Not worth it… I hate giving bad reviews, but when waitresses start off with insults and unacceptable behavior it’s not ok. That establishment needs some serious help and staff that like their job. Hope they make changes in the future.

Since when is it okay to insult the guest upon seating? At what point do you provide two other tables menus, place settings, hot coffee and waters before the first patrons you sat down? When you arrive back at the table you blurt out another insult about a patrons ability to count and check if that guest needs you to slow down so one could understand what your saying? This experience from the moment our name was called went downhill. The service was terrible due to the silver haired, old timing, loud mouth, not a comedian waitress we had the displeasure of meeting. Second, the food… bland. My bacon in the omelet was hard enough to to be considered a «jerky» and only filled half the omlete. The toast, burnt. The hashbrowns… the best part of the ENTIRE experience. We could have gone anywhere today, we chose here… We won’t do it again. Rude staff, bland food, lack luster visual appeal, and the people who come here must be locals… they got hot coffee, place settings for each person, prompt service, hot food and I am most certainly sure they are the diners leaving 4 star reviews. This place = Hole in the wall. In every sense.

Welcome to an older version of Mt. Vernon. Small place, blink and you’ll miss it. Almost like a converted house, with that homey, welcoming feel. Remember to sign the list to get in position to get in. It’s such a popular place that it stays pretty full up. Add the fact that they aren’t open for long, 2pm and they fold up. Don’t get there early enough and they start running out of food. This speaks of freshness. Inviting staff considering the large crowd. Food was great, atmosphere was busy. We’d definitely go back.

Friendly staff and huge portions. Expect a wait on weekends but they work to quickly get tables turned over. Diner type food with a ton of selections. Ordered the country eggs Benedict smothered in gravy and the country scramble with hash browns. Food was good but not outstanding. Honestly wish the Benedict had come on an English muffin instead of the biscuit. Potatoes were fine but could have used a bit more seasoning. Good place to come after a late night when big portions and some calories are needed to get you going. Wait staff is hysterical and are definitely on their game. Expect them to be able to have a great comeback to anything you say. Decent food but nothing that stood out other than the waitstaff.

I was here recently after a morning of photographing geese and daffs in Skagit Valley. I had the Cowboy Scramble and it was great. Not just your standard Sysco fare. Ingredients were fresh. Definitely worth the stop if you are in the mood for some breakfast grub. Decent prices and huge portions too. Good place to split a meal. I don’t usually review places that I have only been to once, but it was the staff that made it worth mentioning. Food service is one of those professions that isn’t technically difficult, yet so few actually do it well. My server was Tammy. I could tell from the moment she greeted me that she had been doing this for a long time and, more importantly that she was a master at her craft. She was attentive, present, personable and funny. Although the food was perfectly good, Tammy is the reason that I will return again next time I’m in the area.

Went here with some friends this morning – super duper loved it! It definitely has that long-standing locals-friendly community diner vibe to it. Service was standard diner service – and food was excellent diner food. I got a half order of biscuits & gravy – and I didn’t even finish it. The biscuits are HUGE. The bacon was also delicious and crispy – as were the hashbrowns. Coffee is definitely slightly above average for diner coffee, too! Overall a lovely experience. And next time I’m back in Mount Vernon with friends, I would absolutely not be opposed to going back! (There *was* a bit of a wait – but not too bad, and totally worth it.)

I pity the fool who hasn’t eaten at Mr. T’s, because their food is rib-sticking delicious, the portions are huge, and the wait staff worth a trip just for the experience. From biscuits and gravy to burgers, I’ve found all of their food to be far above average compared to your normal diner fare. My favorite breakfast is the chicken fried steak — it’s worth the drive from Bellingham(or anywhere). Tell ‘em Jeff sent you! They’ll have no idea who you’re talking about, but will probably enjoy giving you a good ribbing about it.

We L O V E Mr T’s. Best breakfast in Washington state. we often meet friends or family there. we bring out of town guests there. we get the biggest breakfast we can, and sometimes take some home. GRAVY on all things! we love the eggs & chicken fried steak, w/hash browns, cover it in gravy and you’re in Heaven. I don’t eat the bread, but, they have choice of toast, English muffins, or homemade BIG biscuits. Waitresses all wonderful. nice, fun, and good. give them a great big tip. they deserve it.

Mr. T’s is a gem. Missy told me about the legendary biscuits and gravy… They’re as big as your head, she said. I drove past the diner over I-5 countless times. 15 years’ worth. Last weekend I finally made my way to see Mr. T, and boy, was I a happy little Breakfast-o-phile. Delicious, unpretentious and charming waitstaff and cooks. I thought it was a bit like how Diamond Jim’s used to be in its old location. I must say I savored the Cajun omelet to the last bite. I saw the biscuits and gravy with my own eyes. I’m still seeing them… Please let there always be Mr. T’s Café!
