Tasty burger and salad, great presentation! Had their beer equivalent to a Hefeweizen, glass was cold but beer was warm. nice atmosphere and pretty full for a Tuesday afternoon, nice place!

We sat for over 30 minutes waiting for any service today. We finally got menus and cutlery then watched as three tables were seated, with menu and water. We finally left when the next table was seated and drink order taken while we still sat with nothing. To bad for the lazy waitstaff as I’m a very generous tipper who appreciates how hard waiting tables is.

Bad experience with sickness. Been swinging by here for years. Met a regional staff member at SRB for a meeting over a salad. Special: taco salad and crab puffs. Three hours later as I was heading home, my stomach started rumbling. I stopped all the way back to Seattle along the freeway to get sick. Any food I’ve even thought about eating in the last year was purged from my body over night. Great detox diet… but I don’t think I’ll be back.

I love it when my schedule allows me a stop in this great brew pub. There are a small number of taps(around 8 – 9) ales, about half brewed on site, but local brew pubs can get away with that. I have had two meals here, and enjoyed them both. The Fermentation Burger I had tonight was excellent. Added a side Pub Salad. I highly recommend the bleu cheese dressing — thick, creamy and flavorful. I ate in the bar and enjoyed very good service. Thank you, Preston. And hey, Unilocal Reviewers, you walk into a crowded pub and write a worse review because you had to wait. Really?! Does the sun rise and set around you too? Please get real — it helps the rest of us make our dining decisions based on objective criteria.

Disappointing. We have been stopping by Skagit Brewing for years but had not been back in a while. They have slipped downhill quite a ways since our last visit. The selection of house brewed beers is now very limited; they only had three on tap, none of which was Trumpeter, or a winter ale of any kind. The stout we ordered from another brewery instead turned out to have«lost pressure» and so was also not available. So we were down to our 4th choice before we finally got a beer. The food was equally disappointing in various ways. My husband’s order of «pan fried» oysters turned out to be deep fried instead, and the garlic mashed potatoes appeared to involve no actual garlic at all. The alleged bangers in my order of bangers and mash were badly under cooked and more nearly tasted of perfumed hot dog than any English banger I ever had, and the whole came totally smothered in a bland brown gravy not mentioned in the menu. Probably saddest to me was dessert, the wood-fired smores, which had had the marshmallows charred black. The kitchen obviously knew it was overdone, since they stuck three times the usual number of graham crackers to cover the fact. I would have been tempted to send the dish back if we had not already overheard the staff turning away two separate parties 45 minutes before the stated closing time. The staff pretty clearly didn’t care about customer reactions anyway by that point. I expect we will think twice before coming back. Too bad; this used to be a fine little spot we were happy to recommend.

Don’t order the bangers and mash– the menu says bratwurst but my friends those are hot dogs, and the mashed potatoes can be got at Sharis for cheaper. Also, don’t order the Greek salad and expect your tzatziki to be anything other than ranch with feta. They do have a good selection of guest brews to get yourself over the bad food and slow service.

Not a huge variety of foods but enough and The portions are very large… Excellent food. My wife and I had the BBQ sampler(huge) and the Nachos(really, really good.) which was so much I took it home for lunch the next day. The chicken wings were great. Beer… Excellent. Wished for a couple more styles, but the Brown, Pilsner and IPA were really good. No downside here. Just some good food and beer. Ill be back when I pass through the area again.

Was looking for a late lunch, and spotted this place from the freeway. It was about 2:30 in the afternoon, typically a slow time for restaurants. Not here. The place was bustling. Service was immediate and very friendly. We had the Bangers and Mash with Gravy. I passed on the grilled onions, and it was no problem getting the special order. We also had a Soup and Salad. The clam chowder was made in house and was very good. We upgraded the salad, everything was very fresh. Good atmosphere, hot, original food.

This is such a cool-looking place. The building is gorgeous and historic, and it’s right next to train tracks, which is pretty unique. We had the crab cakes for an app; they were good. We both had salads, which were also good. We were a little disappointed in their beer selection. They didn’t seem to have much on tap that they had brewed themselves. There were a lot of guest taps. We would’ve liked to have been able to try more of their own beer. In all other capacities, it’s a nice place and made for a fun outing.

Dinner in Mount Vernon on the way back to Seattle from Skajit County. Sat out on the front deck for local brews and grub. Lots of inviting pub fare. We decided on the pizza, thinking we were getting small plate pizzas. The«small pies» were a least 14 inch-ers. Needless to say, we had enough for another meal. Good food, good drinks. Nice deck. Wait staff was a bit in a twist due to a grab and dash of our waitress’s book. Once the excitement died down and police statements were made, we finished our meal, got our to-go boxes and went on our way.

HOLYCRAP the ribs are good. We stop here from time to time on the way home to Sammamish from our place in Sudden Valley. I always look forward to going here, good beer and good bar/pub food. Stopped in about an hour before close on a hot Sunday night and sat outside. The outside seating is just perfect on a hot day. An Amtrak trail pulled up right beside the restaurant, which was actually very cool. I ordered a Skullers IPA, which was great. My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich and said it was great. I had a taste and I’d agree. Now to the ribs. My expectations are high, I love ribs and I spend the summer slaving over ribs in a smoker and bbq so my expectations are high. Humbly(:+}), my friends tell me I make the best ribs they have ever had. So after the first couple of bites when I said to my wife«Oh my God, these are almost as good is mine». I was really saying I’d never had any better at a restaurant. I may have had some as good, but not better. They could have been a bit better had the membrane been peeled from the back, but that may just be me. One hiccup was we had to wait a while after we got there because the computers were down. The waitress said that they could start cooking the meal once the computers were back up. I’ll bet she was passing that on from the manager, but it doesn’t make much sense. There were only a handful of customers, can’t you just write down the order, and hand it to the cooks? We told her we had cash and didn’t have to do a card. Oh well, not a huge deal, but it did make the length of time there a bit longer than necessary.

Everything we ordered had good flavor. We tried the fermented blue cheese burger, chicken ciabatta, Reuben, and all were large and tasty. Fries were good. Beer was good. Prices were good. It hit the spot.

On Sunday,(6−21−15) my hubby and I stopped by the Skagit River brewery for an early dinner before heading back home to Orcas Island. We have been here before and LOVED our meals and we were looking forward to this meal. Before ordering I always ask before ordering because I am gluten intolerant. So when I first sat down I noticed a sign advertising a Pineapple Cider and usually cider is gluten free, but I am always careful so I asked our waiter if it was gluten free, he immediately shook his head and he kinda rolled his eyes(as if I had just asked him if a wheat beer was gluten free). I ignored the expression and thanked him and ordered a GF(gluten free organic cider) When it came time to order I asked the waiter to check on the ingredients of pork ribs and the Shepard’s pie to make sure they were gluten free. A few minutes later he came back to the table and announced that both were gluten free. Wow, this was a first! Excitedly I ordered the Shepard’s pie. When it arrived it smelled marvelous. The gravy on the top was dark and rich tasting and very hot. I was a bit shocked that this could really gluten free. I poked and picked at this delicious dish while trying to wait for it to cool enough to really dig in. Within a few bites my stomach began to feel extremely bloated and uncomfortable. This could not have been gluten free. Getting out quickly became my only concern. For someone with Celiac or gluten intolerance, this is not a FADE or a JOKE. The ramifications of eating gluten are extremely painful and take days to recover from. Today I called to check and see if the Lamb Shepard’s Pie was in fact gluten free and a nice woman on the phone informed me that it was as long as you ordered it WITHOUTTHEGRAVY!!! This waiter obviously doesn’t take GF seriously and he should not be serving food. This was painful and disappointing. I do hope that restaurants owners take this very seriously. There are more and more of us out here!!! I hate to rate this so low as we have had good food and good service in the past, but I can’t let this one slide.

Always seems like a good idea to stop… recommend you keep driving. One IPA& also over heard others grumble about this & they were beer touring from Bend. Beer is never amazing & server was taciturn expression. Outside deck is nice. Had BBQ Chicken Wings & were covered with dumped on sauce. Should had ordered the Wood Fire Pizza, seemed to be what everyone else had ordered. This was my 3rd attempt at liking this place, was not a charm.

We came here on Sunday before heading out to the Tulip Fields. Apparently everybody and their brother had the same idea. It was a 45 minute wait for two at 2pm so we grabbed a drink and luckily scored two seats at the bar and ordered there. We both ordered each type of their IPA– the Sculler’s and the Gospel, and both preferred the latter– nice West Coast citrus hop. Pretty typical pub fare. The wings(as a friend recommended) were perfect. Crispy, perfect amount of spice, and incredibly meat-y. The house salad was typical, but the blue cheese is stellar– creamy, not watery, and chock-full of chunks of blue cheese. Atmosphere was typical pub but nicer than I expected. Overall I’d be back when in Mt Vernon again, especially to check out their happy hour.

Pretty standard pub food. A little shocked that for lunch at 3:30 on a Sunday there would be a 35 minute wait for a table. People must come for the beer rather than the food. The food is good, don’t get me wrong but so good to make the place packed like that on a Sunday? We sat at the bar, it was very busy and beers were constantly being served so I’m pretty sure people were there for the beer on tap. Sitting at the bar I also noticed a huge waste of beer. Bartenders were over pouring and not using proper pour techniques. I would imagine this costs the pub a major loss in profits. Don’t know if management reads these reviews but if you do, you might want to look into this. Even though it was very busy the bartenders took care of us and were friendly. Our food came quite quickly and was pretty good. I got a Cali chicken ciabatta sandwich which was good but had way too much guacamole sauce. It was disgusting. I scrapped a lot off but there was still too much and I had to eat it without the top piece of bread. It was good after that. I noticed my husbands burger was similarly drenched in mayo. My sweet potato fries were good but a little soggy. Overall it’s a decent place and a convenient place to eat after visiting the tulips.

I’ve only had their beers here. But they were great! I had their porter, and also tried an amber and lager. Each was unique, and flavorful. The enviroment was great as well! Good service, and a fun atmosphere. I’m excited to go back and try the food!
