Stopped by the food truck at Moveable Feast in North Park. Tried the Bimbop with Spicy Beef. Savory, flavorful and delicious! No need to add any extra seasonings or sauce.

Currently craving their korean bbq beef. First we fell in love with the burrito, but one day they ran out, so we opted for the rice plate… And it was even better. The meat is juicy, and flavorful. I’m always tempted to steal their huge bottle of spicy mayo, its so much more than mayo & sriracha. Its addicting, I can put that shit on anything, and it would be sooo good. Plus the lady taking orders is really sweet.

Got a kalbi beef burrito. I think you can make it spicy but I said NOT spicy. Food came out pretty quickly. It was filled with beans, rice, and beef. Probably could’ve used more beef and less rice and beans. I had about half of it and saved the rest of later. It’s a pretty big size but good enough. The burrito was about $ 9, which is slightly pricey for me. But it fed me for two meals so I guess it’s ok.

I was attracted to this truck by the smell, but the food just didn’t measure up. I had the beef burrito. It was way too sweet, and it was totally one note. The sauce just inundated the rice and over powered everything else. I regretted going with this food truck when really good ones were close by.

My husband and I love their spicy beef kimchi burrito. We will definitely get that every time come down from Sacramento.

Quite a bit of frustration with this one. First, they listed tofu and pork as options. When we got to the cashier, they were out of tofu(which they failed to call out anywhere on their menu), so my fiancée, whom is vegetarian, wasted her time in line. I ordered the extra spicy bbq pork burrito. After waiting about ten minutes was then told they were out of pork, so i switched to bbq chicken. At no point did they update their signage that they were out of either(and i heard a few people after me try to order both). The extra spicy bbq chicken burrito was mixed. The flavors and spiciness were really good. The rice, however, was a little undercooked, and the chicken was overcooked, so it was a pretty chewy meal.

I was very impressed with the depth of BBQ flavor and marination of their proteins. I wanted the spicy chicken, spicy pork, and spicy tofu tacos but they were out of spicy pork so I got spicy beef instead. As soon as I bit into the plump chicken pieces and soy sauce and complimentary flavors infused my mouth I appreciated their attention to thorough seasoning. The BBQ Kalbi truck also goes all the way in multiple aspects: strong flavoring, generous portions of proteins on each taco, and substantial heat in even their«regular» spicy option. I like spicy food in general, but after tasting their regular spicy level I would not opt for their extra spicy level. One thing is that I think the tofu taco would taste better with firmer tofu, as it was a bit mushy. Overall, a very satisfying and filling meal to get me through the rest of the work day.

I went to bbq kalbi at off the grid Sunnyvale. I got the bbq beef burrito. It was just alright… I wished the beef had more of an authentic korean flavor to it. The pieces of beef were tiny as well as the quantity. The portion was large though, I couldn’t finish it all for dinner. The staff was friendly and helpful to another customer behind me who hadn’t been there before. Overall, alright and a little on the pricy side for a burrito with little meat and not that much of an authentic korean flavor. Slightly disappointed since I am used to kbbq in LA korea town.

I have only tried the spicy chicken burrito so far, and I’d give that a 3⁄5 on flavor as is. Tip: If you add a generous helping of spicy mayo + their red hot sauce to every bite, the burrito becomes absolutely fantastic. Enough so that I plan to come back and try their kimchi burrito some time soon.

This truck makes the best korean bbq tacos, burritos and quesadillas. I’m sure there other stuff is great but I’m hooked on the spicy beef burrito and kimchee quesadilla. My girlfriend loves their spicy chicken tacos. Whenever this truck is at a moveable feast in Santa Clara or San Jose, I’m there.

This is the 2nd time I’ve tried this food truck. It’s just ok. The first time I had the spicy pork burrito, no real flavors jumped out to me. The second time I had their special, which is the steak rice bowl. Originally I wanted the spicy pork nachos, but when I tried to place my order they informed me only rice plates were available. So I tried to special and it was too salty. They had choices of 2 sauces. The wasabi mayo was very watery. I do have to say service is nice. I wouldn’t say overly nice, but I noticed the cook was accommodating to my coworkers diet choices. So that gives this food truck an extra star.

BBQ Kalbi came to our company party this past weekend. I can’t actually tell you what to order from these guys because EVERYTHINGWAS A HIT! The minute they showed up and the smells started drifting out of the truck, I could tell this was going to be a success. They handled all the orders(especially the special orders for those picky kids) with ease, and yumms were heard all around. They were easy to deal with, inexpensive, and handled all their own plates, trash, etc. Definitely going to be stalking them sometime soon.

9÷10÷14: We get a different food truck at work for lunch eat day, and today was this one… Sorry, but this truck is a lie – you would figure that for a truck called«BBQ Kalbi» they would have kalbi. Nope. Just standard medium quality, thinly sliced, beef that any Chinese stir-fry would have. 1. Bi-Bim-Bap(Kalbi, bowl, «American» spicy) $ 9.50: So, like I said above, NOTKALBI, just standard beef. And just alright beef at that. But my biggest complaint here is that this isn’t your normal Bibimbap either. I had dozens of these at various Korean restaurants and NEVER have they served the dish premixed. I know I’m not typical in this regard, but I actually do not like mixing the whole thing up like a big mash of random fridge contents. I like to taste each component. Anyway, that’s how they served it. It’s also missing some of the fresh vegetables found in typical Bibimbaps. Tastes okay for what it is I guess, but again false advertising. For nearly $ 10, it should have been much better. 3⁄10. Also of note, they have 3 sauces, one flavored mayo/creamy type, one hot one, and wasabi mayo. ALL were VERY watered down. The creamy one was basically straight up water consistency. Very bad. Sorry, false advertising, so-so food, and doesn’t even live up to its own declared name. 2⁄5. #truck #korean

Just tried their food truck tonight here in San Jose. We got the Kimchi fried rice burrito with shrimp, and the rice plate with shrimp. It took a little long to get our food, but that wasn’t really the issue. The burrito tasted more like Kimchi and steam rice, with 3 pieces of shrimp thrown in. The burrito was $ 9.50, but I had to pay $ 1 extra for shrimp. Really? I counted a total of 3 shrimp in my burrito. I guess $.33 cents per shrimp is a good deal? As a rule of thumb for me: Any burrito that is over $ 10, has to be damn good! Just sayn’ :) At any rate, the rice plate was decent, but overall I was not too impressed. Again, not horrible food, but based on my experience, I don’t think I will be rushing back to this food truck.

Stopped by yesterday since Moveable Feast is now stopping in my office park for lunch on Tuesdays. I decided to play it safe with a bbq beef burrito($ 8.50). After waiting for about 10 minutes my order was ready and I was surprised to see how big it was so I was a happy camper. I hate walking away from a food truck feeling like a totally got ripped off(like my co-worker who paid $ 6 for a ridiculously small crappy hotdog from the next truck over).I ended up splitting my burrito with my unlucky friend and was more than full by just eating half. As for the taste of the bbq… Nothing special. I wasn’t impressed at all. While the meat was cooked well, the rice was just mush. I had to scoop most of it out because of the unpleasant texture. I won’t bother with the burritos again, but I’d be willing to try just ordering some tacos next time. *cash only*

Meh, really nothing special and not worth the 30 minutes I had to wait in line to get my food. SUPERSTINGY with the filling. Ordered a spicy shrimp and tofu soft taco and was severely underwhelmed with the amount of toppings that were in my taco. Literally only a few pieces of shrimp and tofu and shredded cabbage… Nothing I couldn’t make myself for $$ cheaper. Sauce is also nothing special and actually on the dry side. Ate my 2 tacos and was still super hungry afterwards. Not sure if their burritos are more worth the money but I would stay away from the tacos if you have an appetite unless you want to order 4 or more…

Korean-fusion cheesesteaks? What the hell, I’ll give it a whirl. BBQ Kalbi is one of the many food trucks to make the rounds around the greater Bay Area. I managed to catch them at the Mozilla headquarters, nabbing a spicy BBQ pork cheesesteak and some nachos. And you know what? It was decent. The meat was well-marinated, tasting more like something marinated in plum sauce than grease. Then again, isn’t grease what a cheesesteak is all about? The cheese was the el cheapo liquid kind, but I guess that adds to the authenticity.

The place that I work at has food trucks every Thursday. This week BBQ Kalbi was on the campus, so my coworkers and I decided to give it a try. I know it takes a while for food trucks to serve up orders, but they definitely could have used another person in the truck to help. There was only over person taking orders and another making the food. I ordered the spicy pork and beef tacos for $ 3 each. I wish they would make a combo deal for the tacos because two of them did not fill me for very long after lunch. The food was really good, but I’m not sure I would stand in line and pay the prices for what I got. My coworker tried to order the unagi(eel) burrito or taco, but was told by the owner that they no longer serve it because of the high prices. They would have to be charging $ 14 for an unagi burrito. Pros: — Good food — Spicy pork and beef Cons: — Long wait times — Small portions for the prices they charge

So my wish was partially granted: two weeks later and BBQ Kalbi is back outside the office. This time with a huge line, that was impressively moving quick. Usually with the food trucks, there will be a handful of people. Today there was a line when I got there(bringing with me 7 co-workers), and a line when we left. This should tell you the quality of this truck. Again, amazing selection of meat and meatless options(one co-worker got a spicy tofu taco and was impressed), and variety of ways to eat the meat. While the mouthwatering nacho plates from two earlier patrons caught everyone’s eyes(and I may just have to get this next trip), I went with one of the more unique options — kimchee fried rice burrito with daejee spicy pork. How was it? I’m still licking my lips at these lingering bits of spicy goodness. The kimchee and pork have a good level of heat to them — that perfect amount that is acceptable in a work setting. The owner continues to be super nice and sociable even with the large crowd, and definitely made me the envy of my co-workers. Fingers crossed they return next month or I track them down at a rally.

I must have been in a really good mood this day because for me to purposely eat Korean/Mexican fusion food is unheard of. I like Korean food and I like Mexican food but not combined. I don’t like«sweet» foods and it just seems to me that«fusion» almost always means«sweet» food. That was the case here. Of all the food trucks that were lined up at Moveable Feast Willow Glen, BBQ Kalbi had the shortest line. I’m not into hype so I decided to give the underdog a try. The gals that helped me out were friendly enough. Food popped out pretty quickly. Alright, good so far. They had 3 types of sauces(spicy mayo, wasabi, chili) and jalapeños so I helped myself to each. I like variety. Korean BBQ Spicy Pork Burrito $ 8.50 — I was shocked to see the size of my burrito when it was handed to me. Easily the smallest burrito for the price I’ve ever paid for. I thought to myself, it’s not about quantity but about quality. I opened it up and found the meat ratio was low(pork is cheap!) and plopped onto one part of the burrito instead of evenly, no bueno. First bite had no meat. Second bite had some meat. Third bite, sweet meat, aaaak! My nightmare, I immediately added the spicy mayo and wasabi sauce to cover it up. The burrito wasn’t «bad» but it definitely needed those side sauces to «liven» it up. It’s all about those sauces. Korean BBQ Beef Nachos $ 8.50 — Another shocker, at this price the smallest Nachos I’ve ever had. It’s apparent they use the same BBQ sauce on their meats because this tasted exactly like the Pork. We poured jalapeños over the top to make it edible. Coke — I rarely drink soda but I was pleased to see they sell them for $ 1. I decided to stick with 3 stars because even though I don’t like«sweet/fusion» foods, I know many people do. It’s unfair to rate them strictly on me not liking sweet food. Or as the great John«Profesor de Unilocal» D. would say, the kinder & gentler Räv, or softie. I can see the appeal of fusion style because I know peeps that LOVE their Panda Express, yuck! I’m just not one of them. For me, I’ll just stick to Korean or Mexican on their own. As for Mexican food, there are far too many larger, tastier and cheaper burritos to be had. If I want Korean BBQ, there are plenty of all you can eat places that cost just a few bucks more. Side Note, Food Truck Rant(not a factor in rating): The popularity of these food trucks has taken a turn for the worse. They no longer provide cheap eats. Their prices are just as high or higher than actual restaurants. What’s the point in that? No good. Hasta La Vista, Kalbi, haeng-un-eul bil-eo yo
