I’m so happy to be able to wear my sunglasses again! Rick was able to repair them when several other larger establishments failed at the task. I highly recommend this establishment for all your optical need!!!

These guys absolutely ROCK. I met George in a continuing ed short course on business, and he happened to have a card. I tossed it in my pile of such things until I needed new glasses. At the time I’d been going to another optical shop for years, where the people were helpful but the prices really hurt. So I decided to give Benchworks a try.
The difference astounded me. At the other shop, they had a huge selection of frames that were never right. I always ended up having them order things from catalogs. Benchworks doesn’t have a huge selection, but I took a quick look at the first box and the perfect frame jumped right out at me. And it was available in different colors, important since I have different prescriptions for driving and computer work. But my amazement continued, because I had a choice in lens manufacturers! A thinner, lighter lens was available for a little more money, but they gave me the choice. And then I was absolutely floored by the final cost, which was LESS THAN HALF of what I’d been paying at the other shop.
A few months later my husband needed new glasses, and he had a very similar experience. A good friend also got her glasses there, and had a similar experience. They’re also always happy to see me to adjust my glasses, since I tend to bend them over time. I couldn’t imagine shopping anywhere else for glasses now.

Ricki and Geogre provided my an outstanding customer service when I was there for getting my new pair of prescription eye glasses. Not only the customer service was excellent, so were the price. With their great eye glasses skills and well prepared right equipments, I only waited 20 mins to get my new pair of glasses. And the price they charge is amazingly low that the work they’ve done. Thank you Benchworks!

Seriously, I love George. With over 35 years of experience he is very skillful and works quickly. Cheap! Cheaper than Costco or anybody else by wide margin. Buy any frame you want online and let them put the lens in. Save a bundle on frames and lens.
Wrap around sunglasses you say? Most places have never even heard of inserts. They do it! (Inserts are adapters to add prescriptions to curved sunglasses.) Total cost less than 200 vs. over 400 WITH the sunglasses. (I chose Tifosi)
Cheap, fast, lovable people, I don’t know what else to say. The place can be a little difficult to find, and it reminds me of the storage room of my high school chemistry class. Don’t think they do walk ins, so please call ahead.

Impressive! I needed two new sets of lenses and one new frame and was dreading the cost. I had a family tip about Benchworks and can’t say enough about their great work! The final price was dramatically lower than what I was facing through my provider. The lenses are perfect. My new frames look elegant and sophisticated. I agree with the other glowing reviews and that their work is top notch.

These guys are fantastic. Their office is an upstairs (no elevator) facility which reminds me of a home garage. I LIKE IT!!! Best to call ahead and get an appointment. If you have a prescription, interview and measurements will take about 30 min. These guys really know their stuff. They will call you when your lenses come it. (mine took 2 days) Make another appointment (next couple of days) and they will install the lenses in your frame in about 30 min while your wait. These are the most comfortable glasses I have ever worn (since age 8). They take cash and checks. Low profile, low cost, fast service, high experience, dependable, and honest. I will be going back. Hope they are still there

These guys are amazing! If you have your prescription and want to get an amazing deal on glasses, this is the place to go. I learned how much money is made by Optometrists on glasses. Get your prescription and take it to the team at Benchworks! They are fair, honest, and the quality of their work is A+++.

I’ve needed new prescription lenses for the past 4 years, but just couldn’t bring myself to pay the $ 600+ (thin lens, transition, anti-​glare, etc) quoted by the optician who works for my eye doctor, much less buy new frames at an additional $ 200+. I finally got to the point that I had to replace my lenses, and thanks to other Unilocalers, learned about Benchworks. I am ridiculously happy. I wanted to keep my existing frames, which Rick checked out said were fine, but they had a great selection of stylish, quality frames that I liked, and I’ll be back to choose one for new sunglasses. Rick and George are expert technicians, but also helpful in advising on frame selection. The shop is clearly a working lab, not set up with any retail comforts. I hope they keep it that way so that those of us who appreciate the value and rare opportunity to work with people who know and love their craft, can continue to benefit.

Consistent quality! I went back to Benchworks for a new pair of prescription sunglasses and was not disappointed. The lens quality seems good, and the price is even less than Costco. Plus the glasses were ready in a few days. I’m already planning to have Benchworks fill my newest computer glasses prescription!

I chipped a lens on my main glasses, shortly after having used my annual insurance for a pair of sunglasses. My optician wanted $ 298 to replace them.
Benchworks charged $ 105, had them next-​day and only needed my frames for 30 minutes. This is in stark contrast to our optician, who we like, but is both expensive and takes 1 – 2 weeks for the same operation, during which time I’d be without my latest prescription. The optician does have additional overheads, but the service (for replacing lenses) isn’t a spot on Benchworks’.
Rick and George are friendly and made the process of replacing my lenses hassle free. Whenever we need lenses outside of our insurance, we’ll be back.

After Peninsula Optical was unable to get my progressive lenses comfortable («You’ll get used to it»), I found George and Rick at Benchworks. My reading glasses were ready the next day and the progressives the following day. And both were perfect; I could see again. The cost was about ¹⁄₃ what Peninsula had been charging me.

George was very friendly and particularly accommodating to my schedule. The Jones New York glasses he made me with anti-​reflective lenses (just $ 150!!) were ready in just a day or two. He even offered to drive to my work place to drop them off for me. No need since he opened his shop during a time I could come — a little earlier than usual — just to help me out.

I brought my eye-​glass prescription to George and he helped me pick out fames that fit my face and complimented my coloring. I love my new glasses and got my designer frames (and lenses) for much less than if I had ordered them through my optomitrist (who knows and recommends George and Benchworks). I’ve since brought my contact lens presciption to George and he quickly got me what I needed at a price I couldn’t get anywhere else.

Boy am I glad I met George conviniently after I scratched my 3 month old glasses. I had VSP, but since I had already used it I had to pay out of pocket. I learned I could save money going directly with George instead of an eyeglass shop. All I had to do is send him my prescription and give him my old frames. He even fixed my emergency glasses free of charge.
I saved money and he did a great job. I paid extra for the scratch free this time. 3 months later and I’m scratch free!
