I was actually looking for some one else to wash my down comforter, but Launderland didn’t seem to have anybody around that does that. In fact they didn’t seem to have anyone there who would admit to being connected with the establishment. I went on Saturday afternoon and I was competing with the local Mexican families. The place is clean and all the machines seemed in working order. Anyway for $ 5 I got the use of their largest front loader and stuffed the big quilt inside. I towelled clean a dryer nearby when my wash stopped… but as I was carrying the comforter back to the dryer a lady zipped in ahead of me and took it. Literally under my arms. When I moaned gently she said it was empty. So I started for the next one in line but she beat me to that too. Finally I got the third one; much to her dismay because she wanted 5 dryers in a row. Jeez While everybody seemed to be minding their own business I didn’t really feel comfortable leaving a $ 400 comforter. So I walked around to the 7 – 11 next door and got some muchies and then browsed through the Kragen autoparts store always returning in 5 – 8 minutes. No thefts no hastle except for the little mexican lady who looked at me like I was a child molester every time I spoke to her little kids who were goofing around and the only ones having a good time. BTW drying a comforter/quilt is a long job. You don’t want to have it on high heat ’cause you’ll kill the down. or the other hand you need to watch the quilt to make sure it doesn’t knot up in the dryer. Someone recommended 6 – 8 clean tennis balls would help. I didn’t feel like rushing over to the Sports Authortiy for new tennis balls so I just stopped the dryer every 15 minutes to untangle things. It took almost 1.5 hours to dry.
