Sought this place out when in the area due to the five star rating and was thoroughly confused. It’s a teeny tiny shop(you can walk in maybe 3 – 5 feet). Jewelry and knickknacks. Tacky lawn ornaments out front. They did have a really cool vintage woodchest… not for sale with a sign saying do not touch. Some really happy customers I guess. To each their own. I much preferred the Therapy shop around the corner.

If you aren’t shopping at Mountain View General Store, then you do not know what you are missing! There are so many unique and one of a kind gifts here for those friends that are hard to shop for. Not to mention, that everything is made by local artists! Tina, the owner of the store, is a beautiful person. She goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable with her charming personality and when you shop in her store, there is a sense of being in one of those peaceful, unique, hidden away shops you find nestled in a mystical dwelling. I have found so many awesome gifts here as well as treasures for myself!

GREAT little store full of unique local art pieces, from jewelry and sock moose(s?) to wall hangings and handmade vases and candles. The owner is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and best of all, IT’S ALLLOCAL! Ideal for gift shopping or just when you have a hankering for something unique.

full of wonderful items by local artists and crafts people. So refreshing someone is willing to give the local artists a venue instead of importing mass produced things from other countries. This store is perfect for gift giving. Unique and even one of a kind items make the gift very special.

One of the best stores ever! love it so much. Tina is rad, personable and I couldn’t ask for a better place. I display my art there as do many artists and I am very pleased. She has so many cool artists and I have made a lot of friends through the store. I definitely recommend shopping there. You won’t be disappointed. My family is from Oregon and it is the kind of adorable store you would find there. Very indie, cool with a laid back vibe and there is an awesome coffee shop c

A really fun, artsy little shop right off Castro in downtown MV that is full of one-of-kind treasures. It’s great to see a small business that supports local artists and craftspeople. They have a really eclectic collection of jewelry, accessories and home décor items, plus it’s the only place I’ve seen a whole collection of items commemorating Mountain View. I bought a really interesting photo book that chronicles the evolution of the city from the 1800s to the present day.

I cannot go in this store! I ALWAYS find something I want! It’s dangerous! :) Such beautiful jewelry and fun art pieces. All from Mountain View artists. I have a shirt, bracelets, a necklace and my husband has a cool thumb ring from here. The owner is really creative and puts little trinkets around town asking to be returned to the MVGS. It’s the coolest marketing tactic I’ve seen in MV to date! Be on the lookout for them and if you are on Dana St., stop by and browse. You won’t be disappointed!

Great little local/artsy shop. This is the ONLY place to get real, recent Mountain View postcards. Everything here looks handmade and of great quality. The owner Tina is a very nice women who helped me out being a new resident of Mtn View. I can’t recommend her shop enough. It is right off of Castro street and small, but does offer a good selection of local items.

Finally a place to buy MV hats for gifts! I’ve lived here for over 8 years and now I don’t have to buy SF hats.

This place is a must-visit for anyone who lives in Mountain View and finds themselves strolling on Castro. It’s the only place to get Mountain View postcards and attire, and the local art is really neat, if kitschy and… unique. The best part, however, is Tina, the owner. She is so friendly and sweet, and just loves talking about the store and what’s in it. Worth it to just stop by and say hi to her.

What a great addition to downtown Mt. View! Tina, the owner is excited to create a marketplace for local artists to show off their wares. The candy jars are perfect for kids and won’t break the bank. Great to support local stores in our home town!

New small shop. Mountain View General Store sells clothing etc. with unique Mountain View insignia. Just opened, already written up by the Mountain View Voice:
One logo style uses alternating color characters, vaguely like(but clearly distinct in detail from) that big search engine firm — Goog something? Googol? Another style is reminiscent of(but clearly different from) the old downtown Mountain View Theater marquee logo, visible in Nick Perry’s photo-history books(in the Arcadia local history series). I bought a cool, unique T-shirt at this«General Store» and am thinking these items will be popular around the downtown area. The shop is right across from Dana St. Coffee Roasting Co.
