Not bad of a place at all. I just love the stromboli that they have. The mushroom, pepperoni, and sausage. Can you say, «YUM!»? The service was great too, and for a little place like this, that is great!

Hmm, maybe my expectations were too high after reading all the great reviews and my coworker extolling the general awesomeness of Brazilian pizza, but it just tasted like ordinary, slightly salty pizza to me. Not horrible. Nothing special either. Here’s what we got. Liked the Stromboli the best of the four(mushroom, salami, pepperoni, Italian sausage): — Pizzale’s Special with Brazilian cheese — Stromboli — Calabresa — Ranchers Ah well, probably a good thing anyway. It’s closing for good tomorrow.

Brazilian pizza??? What? They do that? YES. It’s quite good, and several things put it into the 5 star range for me: — pao de quejo(they call is cheese bread) — if you don’t know what these are, you HAVE to try them — brazilian fruit juices(wtf is cupuacu? it doesn’t even have an english translation! awesome!) — dessert pizzas are always fun — and of course, novelty of brazilian pizza! Might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but worth a try for all.

Personally, I think it deserves a three, but it’s the best I’ve had in CA so far, so I can’t complain too much. I got the thick and was very disappointed, but again, I just moved here from Chicagoland, so I’m guessing it’s just a culture difference. I got the thick crust cheese, and from what I can tell, this place is known for its more interesting pizzas, so it’s possible I was asking for bland by getting just a plain cheese. I also got the cheese bread(which was exactly the same as the pizza, with no tomato sauce under the cheese) and the dessert apple pizza, which was tasty enough for applesauce on flatbread. It sounds like I’m complaining, and I’m really not. It’s decent enough pizza, and after trying out a few more places, I might feel even better about this. Great things– they include ranch without me asking for it, not too greasy pizza and they included some packets of parmesean and crushed red pepper. Pretty good experience overall… still looking for a great place though.

3.5 stars. A bit too much sauce and cheese for me, but the slices to order came out so hot, and the crust was very good.

So the big draw for me was the acai bowl. Atleast twice now, I call them on the weekend to see if they have it. The girl answering the phone tells me, yes, but the only guy(the owner) who can make it comes after 12 noon. So I show up around 12:30, no ower, no acai bowl. I ask her if she can make one of the smoothies. No dice– apparently the same guy makes the smoothies and he isn’t there. What about the fresh juices? nope, no can do. I may try again next weekend but I think I know how its going to play out again.

Your go-to nighttime delivery pizza place in the Mountain View-Palo Alto-Sunnyvale Nerd Corridor. Hungry engineers will crave the salty Calabresa, the pesto will satisfy your most obstinate IT guy, and the smartypants who thinks he’s being clever by asking for a peas and hard-boiled eggs pizza will get exactly what he wants. Nice. Plus, smoothies and two-liter guarana drinks, ideal if you’re fixing bugs on a Wednesday night. Hell, who are we kidding, it’s Mountain View– Friday night. Call ‘em up.

It can be tricky for newcomers to spot this pizza joint because of its poor signage, but its worth the effort to find it. I tried pizzas with catupiry cheese, calabresa sausage, hearts of palm, green olives and marinated chicken as pizza toppings and loved them all. Keep an eye out for the unusual acai smoothie/granola bowl, which has a light flavor and guarana syrup, an unusual ingredient. I tried cocoa fruit juice, which I have never been able to find anywhere else– it tasted smooth and simple and a little bit like strawberries.

Being a native Brazilian, I found Pizzale’s takes me back home. The authentic ingredients are a rare treat. The pizza is fantastic! Not to mention the fruit drinks… I have no clue how they get, and keep, the Brazilian fruits so fresh. A must try is the cheese bread(pao de queijo) and their chocolate dessert pizza(pizza de brigadeiro). Good stuff!!!

I order from them all the time. They have a wide delivery area which is nice. I also appreciate their uncommon pizza menu. If you’re sick of typical pizzas, they have an extensive menu of unusual Brazilian pizzas. Of course, if you’re not up for the adventure, their regular pizza is good too. The lasagna is weird(ham?), but everything else is good. I wish they had more variety in their appetizers though. Maybe jalapeo poppers or hot wings or regular garlic bread(not the flat pizza dough bread with a little cheese). The service is great when they have a fluent English-speaker answering the phone and polite when they don’t. They deliver a huge variety of beverages, including beer and wine.

I often drive by the little strip mall and have wondered about the Brazilian flag hanging in the window. I finally had a reason to order a pizza with friends coming over to watch«Heroes.» For a change of pace, we agreed to try one of the Brazilian style pizzas, the Ranchera. It wasn’t quite what anyone expected and quite tasty. This wasn’t as cheesy as pizzas I generally like, but the cream cheese, corn, and shredded chicken was good. The only disappointment was that the menu claimed the large had 10 slices. When I opened the pizza box, I found 8 slices. That didn’t quite work out since I was hoping to provide 5 people with 2 slices each. Other than that, I’m definitely looking forward to trying another one of their pizzas. For fun, I also order a small dessert pizza. The guy on the phone kept encouraging me to order the fudge and strawberry pizza. I thought this sounded good, but it didn’t really go over too well with the group. I would have been just as happy smothering a slice of toast with some Nutella and fresh strawberries at much less cost.

I was happy to come home one day and have the good fortune to have one of Pizzale’s little menus hanging from my doorknob. At first, I plucked it off and set it aside without a second thought. Then one day, I was wishing I could have a slice of pizza knock my socks off. I was tired of the same ol’ Hawaiian or pepperoni with mushrooms. I reminisced back to the days when I lived in Germany and the pizza had a light, buttery, thin crust and the toppings were creative and had cool names. Lo’ and behold, I read the menu options Pizzale had to offer. I tried the Romanesca for the first time. It was the perfect combination and neatly, arranged pattern(trust me, the pizza looks picture perfect when delivered) of toppings packed with flavor and texture nestled atop a blanket of white, hot mozzarella. Thin slices of Canadian bacon with green olives, green peas and even more chunks of crunchy, crisp bacon strewn across the cheesy canvas. Everything was in moderation. No frills or extras – just a well-balanced, beautiful pizza. Then I tried Don Valentino and it was packed full of garlic-goodness, bay shrimp and parsley to melt in your mouth! For the first time, in a long time, I found a pizza where the flavor exceeded my expectations and left my tastebuds satisfied. I have also tried the pizza that came with catupiry and lots of shredded barbecue chicken and corn. It was the only pizza that I felt where the maker got heavy-handed with the toppings. The pizza was still yummy, but not my favorite amongst the others I had tried. If you’re tired of the same American-style pizza over-loaded with bland toppings, smothered in greasy cheese that make the crust sag as you try to hold it up to eat… try Pizzale. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.

So my friends and I were watching a few movies and we decided to order pizza. My friends always go for Dominoes or Amicis and what I really miss from back home is the little pizza shops with names like Joe’s or Tony’s or O’Sciugnizzo. We opened the yellow pages and found Ontillos(I am guessing that is what it used to be called because the sign still hangs however it is not advertised) When it came oh my god. It was just what I was wishing for, plus it came with a menu of specialties. Turns out it is a Brazilian pizza place with probably the best selection of pizza I have had in a while. Pesto Pine nut pizza, Sun dried tomato and arugula. They have this spiced sausage that is awesome too. There is a smooth bar too with fresh tamarind Calzones and Strombolli are enormous too and flavorful. And the service is soo soo nice. Best Pizzaria by far in the area.

Wow great pizza. I’m pretty tired of American pizza – sick of the same old combination of pepperoni, ham, and company. So what a refreshing take on pizza – Brazilian pizza. I got Ranchers, which has corn on it – never seen that before but I loved it, along with the shredded chicken. I also had the pleasure to taste the Portuguese pizza which has slices of hard boiled eggs – again, never had that before and it was delish. The dessert pizzas I tried were chocolate&strawberry and something with cinnamon on it. I preferred the chocolate&strawberry. Unique concept – reminds me of the salty and sweet crepes you can get at other restaurants – here, you get different pizzas for different courses. Ingenious.

Even in this area of seemingly unlimited culinary delights, every once in a while what a girl really needs is a good slice. A Brazilian friend of mine recently invited me to Pizzale and it hit the spot. What sets them apart is their Brazilian twist. You can play if safe with a classic(pepperoni, sausage, etc) or you can get adventurous and try a chicken & catupiry, a creamy Brazilian cheese(and favorite among my Brazilian friends), pizza or calabreza(Brazilian sausage). If you are looking for something really out of the ordinary, give one of the dessert pizzas a try. We got one that was half coconut and half strawberry & chocolate. I was pleasantly surprised to see that, while the menu said ‘chocolate’, it was actually brigadeiro(a delicious blend of chocolate and condensed milk… and probably some other ingredients of which dieters should steer clear). They don’t promote it, but the restaurant has a great selection of tropical juices, really exotic options like Capuacu and Caju. We split two glasses of juice so I could try two new flavors. Chatting with the owner he told me that they also serve Acai with granola. I didn’t order it that night, but I loved it when I tried it in Brazil. I’ll definitely stop by to try it for a late breakfast some weekend. I do agree with the Haley’s comment about the name. I also couldn’t figure out how to pronounce it. Still, if that is the biggest downfall, I’d say that the pizzeria is on the right track.

This place is formerly Ontilo’s — they have changed management and names. The pizza was very good, with a nice thin, but not too thin, tasty crust, and good toppings. They did a good job of separating the vegetarian toppings side from the meat toppings side. The delivery took about an hour, but they got lost. Oh, and the kicker — a large with 2 toppings on each side(considered as 4 toppings at some places) was $ 16 even! I haven’t liked any pizza in Mountain View so far(except Amici’s-$$$$), but I will definitely try this place again(and hopefully again and again). But the name… I couldn’t understand the woman on the phone, since I was expecting Ontilo’s, but I thought she said Pizza Alley. Looking at it written, is it Pizza-Alley? Pizza-Ale(like beer)? Pizz-Ail(kinda rhymes with«travail»)? Pizz-All? Pizz-Al? Or Pizz-ALL-Ay(like the small town in northern Italy)? It’s always a bad idea to name your restaurant something that people can’t pronounce.
