A wonderful restaurant with delicious food and friendly staff. If you’d like to try Korean food for the first time, this is the place to go to. Chances are it wont be your last visit :)

The dolsot bi bim bap was authentic and excellent. Very friendly owners. Quaint place. Offers table barbecue for minimum of two people.

This is seriously the best Korean food I have ever tried. The environment is adorable and the Korean music when you walk in the door makes it. The service was great and very authentic. They offer the classic rice hot tea which is good. What really made it was the japchae appetizer that they gave us for free. Then they brought out the 9 sides which was way more than I have ever received. They had the potatoes(sweet), fish cakes, squid, Kim chi, kohlrabi, tofu, zucchini, and egg omelette. The main dish had noodles, ham(tasted like a spam), sausage(some tasted like hot dogs), Kim chi, and love. It was literally the best tasting dish I have ever had. My friend had he bibimbob which he enjoyed. Overall it was the best Korean dining experience I have ever had.

Not much to say about this. I had the spicy pork. It was delicious. The small plates were great and unique to me. It was like every kind of kimchi have ever ever seen. I’m not sure why I’m giving it four stars it just seems appropriate. The people were great the food was delicious.

This is one of the few Korean restaurants that I’ve gotten multiple recommendations from friends to try. The interior of the restaurant was surprisingly pleasant and clean. The walls had Asian inspired art and furniture that I liked. I ordered Dolsot Bibimbap with Chicken which is a hot stone bowl and the server even brought out 8 more fish cake, kimchi, and other dishes for us which were part of the free starters. Grilled Mackerel is also another dish thats worth trying. ! I would recommend this place to other friends because it’s convenient located, has a great homey ambiance, and has great service!

Nice atmosphere. Good food. Owners were at first a bit cold to new-comer but soon warmed up when I spoke a bit of Korean. A place worth checking out.

I almost never review, but this place was so good I ate there two nights in a row(and may make It three tonight). Excellent food, friendly service and such value is hard to find! I am a Korean BBQ rookie, but I think the quality of the food here is very comparable to a nice Korean BBQ place in NYC that I tried a few years back.

There’s new owners but the food is way better than before! The service is great and they pay attention to their customers! They always recognize me when I come with my family! I have ordered take out many times and they always pack extra side dishes for me. Definitely a small«mom and pop» feel, and they really show that they care. Their lunch menu is great and the price is amazing! I think out of all the Korean restaurants I’ve been to, their Korean side dishes are one of the best. I’ve had the soon tofu, kimchi ji jae, and the korean pork. They’re all really great! The interior is really intimate. They do have bigger tables for bigger parties! Their Korean BBQ is great quality. Their Korean BBQ is NOT all you can eat, it’s by portions. I hope you try it out!

My coworker told me about this place, now I can’t get enough of it :). Everything I’ve tried here was delicious! I love Tteokpokki and Dolsot-BibimBap ;). It all reminds me of my days when I lived in South Korea. The kimchi-jjigae is also wonderful here. You can tell that food is all freshly made. The owners are this very cute Korean husband and wife. They are so kind everytime I go :). They have grown to remember because I go so often. I love family owned places. It makes me feel like I’m eating real home-cooked food. This place will not disappoint.

I love their kimchee ji gae! They never skimp on the pork every time I order from here! The ban chan tastes home made and always satisfies my cravings when I want real Korean food like my family used to have. If you want bland watered down Korean, go elsewhere. This place is my go to whenever I crave homemade Korean!

Best and most authentic Korean restaurant in this area! And this is coming from my husband and I who are Korean and have grown up eating authentic Korean food from Los Angeles! So glad this place is here. It’s a little taste of home. :)

Owner couple were super nice to our family. Food was very neatly prepared and plates were fairly clean, too(which is important to me, personally). Food itself was not too salty or sweet which my wife and I just love love love. They have tons of variety of Korean food you can try. We ordered three different dish and they were all above average quality. Def. going back again to try out more food.

We stopped here on our way home from Wisconsin for a nice, homey, Korean meal after a long day. Upon glancing at the place, I wasn’t expecting much, but the menu was more extensive than a lot of places and included some dishes I had never seen at other Korean restaurants(but are Korean staples according to my Korean friends). I ended up going for the ttuk budae jigae which is probably the least healthy(but possibly most satisfying) thing you can find on their menu. It came steaming in a stone pot with a side of purplish rice(that was new). It had ramen noodles, ttuk, ham, bacon, spam, beef, and some kimchi. Again it is probably the meatiest and carb-iest thing on the menu, but very spicy and delicious. It was definitely enough for 2 meals. The panchan was decent, they had about 6 small but heaping dishes. The only complaint would be about the ambiance, they were having mosquito issues the day we went, and I sustained a few mosquito bites while there. The food was totally worth it though :)

My husband and I were so happy to find a Korean restaurant in the area. We just moved out to Wauconda and normally go to Niles for Korean food. Which we will not have to do now. We enjoyed everything from start to finish. We enjoyed Mul-Naengmyeom and Chadolbaegi. We’ll be back!

Came here with my friend on a Friday night! The place was super busy! Pros: We ordered 1 order of the galbi and japchae noodles. The marinade for the meat was soooo good. My friend and I were practically chewing all of the meat off the bone at the end! Just a FYI, if you want to do table top BBQ, you have to order 2 orders of meat or more. If you just order 1, they will just cook it for you and seat you at a non-grilling table. The japchae noodles were delicious! It was not too greasy and had plenty of crisp veggies and some beef as well. The banchan was very good. I loved the spicy oden(fishcake) and the sweet potato one! The kimchi was very refreshing too and it complimented the galbi very well. The food here is tastier that Blue House Korean BBQ and the wait staff are so much more friendlier as well! It seems like this place is a family owned restaurant? I definitely will be coming here instead of the other place down the street! Cons: Service was a tad slow and northern burbs korean food is always more pricier than if you go to the city or Niles area.

It’s been a few years since I have been here. Under new ownership this place has dramatically improved. Their menu have dramatically expanded and the food is great. It is a more traditional menu with outstanding Korean Bar B Q. Be patient with the service but it is a great mom and pop type of restaurant. I highly recommend it.

Tried again thinking it was a fluke. Stay far, far away. Grissly meat and small portions If the prior owner hadn’t sold out we would have been customers for life This new owner, pricing and quality of food is awful

The whole experience was absolutely wonderful! The staff are very friendly and the food gave off the comforting effect of «mom’s home cooking». The level of quality in Hwang Dae Gham’s cuisine is in a tier of its own. With fresh ingriedients, genuine Korean recipies that span from each side of the country, and Home style cooking Hwang Dae Gham is my first stop when the craving begins!

The cooks here have restored my faith in Korean restaurants. Had the gamjatang(potato and pork) soup. Good, spicy and hot! Not something you want to get on a 75 degree day. Anyways, the banchans came out as expected prior to the main dishes. Previous restaurant had their side dishes come out after the main dishes. Prices seem to be fair. I was served hot corn tea for some reason. Heard from others that this place makes and serves better food than the prevoius Kim’s restaurant. Just wished I was offered ice water instead of hit tea on a 75 degree day. Will definitely go back and try other dishes. Place was clean.

If you like ramen, try the Tan Tan Ramen here. One of the best I’ve had…
