Great beer selection. Not so great for lunch. This is a bar and a bar only in my opinion. Not even sure why they are open at 11am. I had a burger there today at about 1:30pm. I was the only one there besides the people that work there. The bartender/server/cook was very nice and friendly. The burger was very good. I would like to try more stuff but it smells like smoke. Oh ya people can smoke in there. The place needs to be cleaned up a bit. It may have opened 30 some years ago and still has all the original stuff in it. This could be a great place and make major coin with an overhaul.

4 stars because of the service! Definitely a dive and the exterior put me off when we first pulled up. We looked for a dog-friendly place and ended up at this gem. The bartender was so kind to us, and our dogs… our drinks were kept full(the dog’s water, too!), our food was timed perfectly(appetizer, salad, burger, and bacon for the pups) and the food was great! Nothing fancy, but everything they did, they did it right.

The Boro is best dirty little bar in Murfreesboro! Friendly staff over 200 beers and a handful on tap. One of the best burgers in town! Go to The Boro! Drink their beer!!!

This is the place to go for cheap drinks and very handsome bar staff. It’s very loud though and the music is not to everyone’s taste which means dancing or talking aren’t always options. Then again it’s very easy to drink yourself past caring when many drinks are just $ 1.70. It could do with a make over. It’s quite dark in there even during the day. Overall not a bad bar and I have happy memories here that’ll keep me going back.

Cash only. Not usually carrying cash is what keeps me from frequenting this place when I wanna go out to a bar and not have to pay ATM fees to use the one they have in-house. Decent beer selection and between the bands, they play pretty decent music. Yeah Yeah Yeahs?! Yeah Yeah Yeah! They have nice and cute girls working here. Please start accepting cards!

Cool new bar/restaurant in Murfreesboro near MTSU’s campus. Not sure about the entertainment, but the food is good. The pizzas and specialty hot sandwiches are my favorite!

Some experimental/indie bands come through, which is cool. My only objection. It’s a Beer and Wine only bar. Which always sucks for me. Usually its full of college kids/scene kids. But depending on the band it will draw people from all worlds. It’s a cool place. Smoking is allowed. You can sit in big round booths. Good place to see a show. Just pocket a flask if you don’t like beer or wine. Never had their food. I’ve heard good stories though!

The club sandwich is best in town and plenty of beers to choose from. One of my all time favorite places in Murfreesboro. Though it does suck they don’t take credit cards.

What drives me crazy about The Boro is that they don’t take credit cards, but they serve food. I can understand a dive bar that is just a dive bar only taking cash, but when you’ve got to pay for beer and food in cash, that’s just downright annoying. The food is surprisingly decent though. It’s nothing to scream and shout about, but it does the trick. The Boro doesn’t serve anything but beer, but the selection of it is pretty good, with a large number of those beers on tap, and the prices are still Murfreesboro prices, which is great because there’s a lot of places in the ‘boro who think they can now charge Nashville prices. I’ve been here for lunch during the day, and it’s pretty boring and ordinary, but occasionally, if someone good is playing, the atmosphere lights up. There’s comfortable booth seating, and if you want to get away from the general noise, you can go into the screened porch patio room and play pool and hear yourself think. It’s really not a bad little bar for Murfreesboro, and a little less shady than similar options there.

Even for Murfreesboro, this is an exceptionally junky little dive bar. The building itself is roomy and the staff is nice enough. The beer is also relatively inexpensive. Other than that, however, The Boro just doesn’t have much going on. We played a show at The Boro once, and we had more technical difficulties than at any other performance. The PA went out during our set, and the TVs over our heads continually played NASCAR the whole evening. I’ve never sampled the food, but my guess is it’s average bar food. I’m not trying to dog too hard on The Boro. Sadly, Murfreesboro just doesn’t have a sufficient selection of bars(especially for a college town). If you’re stuck in Murfreesboro and looking for a bar… well then you’re in the wrong city. But if you must go out… pick somewhere else.

The Boro Bar & Grill is geared towards the neighbouring M.T.S.U. They serve tons of different bottled beers, and lots and lots of Pabst Blue Ribbon, the signature beer of all college rock bars. The vibe of the bar is totally laid back. Whoever is charge of the music has great taste. I was in there waiting to hear a band play, and the room music played by the bar was fantastic, they played Portishead, and Fugazi. I was floored. I never hear these bands. So, I instantly had a good feeling about the Boro. They have a full food menu. The selection is pretty typical bar food it includes sandwiches and hot wings. They have beer specials and can get pretty crowded throughout the school year. Its is a lot quieter in the summer months. They have huge garage doors that they can open onto the patio to make the entire bar open air. This is when the Boro is at its best. The bar is definitely not a classy joint, but for a college bar, that hosts bands, its not bad at all. The sound system is always brought by the bands playing that night so that sound can be hit or miss. They do have free wifi!
