I knew the concept before we went. So I wasn’t disappointed that I had to cook the meal. I have 2 kids and did have to watch them closely to not get burned. I was a little disappointed in the quality of the pancakes. They just weren’t good. They bring a regular and multigrain and both were not great. I did like all the topping options available, but they were on pancakes that were bland. Next time I’ll head to IHOP or Cracker Barrel. The prices were pretty high too.

Moving from Nashville to Murfreesboro it is so great that one of my husband and my favorite places is now a chain. The concept of the place is that you can make your own pancakes, and various other items like eggs and potatoes, on griddles in the center of every table. The original location is in Berryhill which is known as an artsy area that has taken old homes and put businesses in them. This said the Murfreesboro location is in a shopping center but the owners have attempted to keep the original feel of the place by decorating the walls with murals. This is a place my husband and I go to when we want to feel like kids and make funny shapes and designs with our pancakes. The prices are awesome and the servers are friendly. It is unique to this area and my hope is that it will be seen as something that is needed and enjoyed for years to come!

I don’t know what this only has 3 stars, this place was awesome. The atmosphere was fun, the staff was very informative and friendly, it was a nice twist to breakfast. Like being at home and cooking but you don’t have to clean up the mess! The concept was very cool, I’m actually very surprised this is the first time I’ve ever seen one of these. Pretty much everything you order you make yourself other than the breakfast meat. Pancakes are unlimited. I’m not sure about the French toast because I’m not a huge fan of it. Really wishing we lived up here. Next time we’re in town we will definitely be returning.

My wife, kids, and I went here for Breakfast and were amazed that you have to cook your own food. If I wanted to cook pancakes I would spend $ 3 on some pancake mix and cook them at home. Needless to say we got up and left and will not be back.

So awful. Would be 0 stars. We were greeted by a girl who smelled as if she hadn’t showered in several days. We ordered and waited 15 minutes for the worst pancake batter known to man. The food was disgusting. The pricing was ridiculous too. $ 7 for pancakes that you have to cook yourself. YGBSM.

My husband and I were excited to try this cook your own breakfast place. We were quite disappointed. It was surprisingly expensive for what you get. I ordered spinach to top my eggs, it was 75 cents for approximately five pieces of spinach, a far cry from a full serving. The pancakes seemed to be their signature item yet they were quite disappointing. They served two different types of batter, white and multi grain. The multi grain were essentially inedible to us, we left the majority of that batter behind. The white pancakes were extremely doughy. We tried to cook them in different ways, longer, shorter, smaller, etc but nothing worked. The best thing we ordered was the honey child latte. That was delicious! But everything else was disappointing, we will not be returning.

This is a really good place to get some killer breakfast. Yes you cook the food yourself but that makes it more fun. My 2 year old loves that she can add m&ms to her pancakes and be allowed to eat them for breakfast! The pancakes are delicious, my husband always flips over the French toast, and the breakfast meats are on point! We always bring our family here when they visit from out of town just for the experience!

I was excited to come to the cook your own breakfast. I was thinking for the cost they charged that I would be getting very quality food. Instead I got pancake batter that was so thin it barely made a pancake. They would not fluff up like normal pancakes would. They also provided a multigrain pancake batter that did better but was a disappointed in it too, just not to the same degree. My wife got French toast but they were out of the multigrain bread and only had white French bread, bit of a fail The concept is great, completely missing it in food quality to me! For what you get compared to the cost, I suggest Waffle House next time.

I love this place. The food is so good and its fun to cook yourself. Trust me when I say that the food is easy to cook. I never cook at home(hate it) and the microwave is the only thing in my kitchen that is used. With all of that said, I can cook here and its easy! Vegetarian friendly and they even have fake sausage patties!

Horrible horrible service. Took 20 mins just to be greeted by the waiter. He explained how busy he was but he only had two other tables. The food was mediocre at best. When I asked for additional toppings he never brought them. I left with a bad experience and the lingering smell of burnt pancakes on my clothes all day. Will never go back.

First, just in case you don’t know(we didn’t), this is a breakfast version of The Melting Pot. In other words, you are paying for the experience of them bringing quality ingredients to your table and you cooking your own food. So, if you have the time and know how, this could be a great place for you. Unfortunately, while the ingredients were top notch, the chef(me) was not. If I’m going to pay a premium price for breakfast, I’d like there to be zero chance it’s going to get messed up. I’m glad I tried it, but I probably won’t be back.

We weren’t sure what to expect, given the mixed reviews. I can say for sure that the food was good. The garlic potatoes with skins on them were really tasty, as was the white chicken chili. However, as newbies we would have expected a bit more introduction to the menu, using the griddle to cook our eggs and pancakes on our own, etc. Maybe they figured it should be self explanatory. Anyhow, the griddle would be way too small for multiple family members trying to cook at one time, so that was a drawback. Otherwise, it was ok. Not sure we will put this one on our«must go again» list, though.

We recently moved to Murfreesboro from Louisville and this is one of the first places we ate. I can say I will not be going there again. This place makes you cook your own food! Pfunky is right. This was definitely not the dining experience we were looking for. The pricing is like you are at a regular restaurant that cooks and serves you, but you have to cook yourself. At least you don’t have to clean up. With a hot griddle on the table, I would definitely not bring my boys here. That is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I wish The Pfunky Griddle the best of luck in having this concept stick around for a while.

Ever since my wife was diagnosed with celiac disease I look at restaurants through a new filter. Some places just can’t accommodate for celiac, and that’s fair. Just tell us up front. Pfunky Griddle says«Oh yeah, we can handle gluten free»…and then proceed to do sort of accommodate. What you wind up with is everyone waiting while one person prepares their food, then that person either 1) eats before everyone else, or 2) waits for the rest of the party to prepare theirs. It’s really not ideal. The reason for doing it this way is that they claim the gluten free griddle will trip the circuit if it runs at the same time as the griddle in the table. The solution, of course, is to hire an electrician to correct this. Alas, Pfunky Griddle is a place that our family cannot enjoy together.

It was a great time with the family and especially fun for the kids!!! The Service was unbelievable, and were always making sure we were doing fine. My 7 year old son and 12 year daughter enjoyed it a lot and being able to cook their own food. Clean environment and nice atmosphere! The plate was a bit warm but typical if your going to cooking something on it. The separate costs for certain items of food made it confusing and maybe a simpler menu would make it easier to decide what to eat.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I was SO looking forward to a new breakfast joint in Murfreesboro! But, I just don’t understand cooking my own pancakes at a high price. The service was slow. The pancakes were average. We had to constantly ask for refills. The coffee cups are the size of tea cups.(Hence, the reason we needed so many refills) I don’t know… to me, I could have bought a box of bisquick for $ 3.00, made a pot of coffee, and saved myself about $ 20.00. I understand this place is all about the experience. So, I’d definitely recommend going once, just to try it and say you’ve been there.

This place blows. If I burn my pancakes at home, it’s my fault undercooked, I blame me. WHYDO I WANTTOCOOKMYOWN when I GOOUT? It was ok, but amateur service, and aside from taking small children, I will stay at home to burn my fingers and screw my own pancakes up.

I came here with my family for my belated birthday breakfast. I love pancakes, and this was the perfect place for me! Plus, I don’t have to deal with everyone’s differing topping preferences! We came on a Saturday morning and didn’t have to wait to be seated. I have a 4-year old and a 2-year old. As soon as we sat down, I warned them not to touch the griddle. My 2-year old didn’t listen. Our server was concerned, but my little one was okay! My 4-year old loved being able to add her own M&Ms, and flipping her own pancake! I enjoyed not having to clean everything up! Our server was great, the batters and topping were delicious(I preferred the 5-grain batter with blueberries while my hubs and kids wanted the white batter), and the place was clean! And I loved their iced coffee! This place is excellent for kids… and patient parents! I would definitely return for a special breakfast with my family!
