The friendly staff introduced us to a variety of unique wines. It is definitely worth a visit!

Really enjoyed our visit. The wines were great, especially the 2010 Tempranillo. Very personable owners of a family business who paid attention to every visitor. A great reason to come back to Murphy. Tom

Friends and I had a great time wine tasting at this family owned winery’s small tasting room. My friends met both the husband and wife on different days and we all agreed that they were not only knowledgeable, but also very friendly and easy to talk with. Our favorite was their Malbec wine, so smooth and yummy! When you are up in Gold Country and decide to go to wine tasting rooms, be sure and drop by Bodega Del Sur’s tasting room. It’s right behind the Main Street in Murphys. You won’t regret it.

Friendly spot where they’re more than eager to discuss their wines with you. Cute little tasting room near the park. Wines are of high quality, though the prices are on the higher end(for what I’d expect to pay for a wine made outside Napa or Sonoma(but to be fair, that’s true for just about any winery in this area). If they have the Carmesi or Dry Zinfandel up for tasting, don’t miss them! I was also happily surprised when I learned they have a Bay Area connection! …Like many in the Calaveras County area ;)

You have to step off of Main Street to find this little treasure, but you will be rewarded with the most gracious hospitality from the genuinely friendly and outgoing staff. To top it all off, their wines rate among the best in Murphys, in my opinion. Well worth a visit!

They deserve 5 stars! My sister and I(who are also Salvadorian like the owners) just came by this weekend to Murphys for the first time. Bodega del Sur had Friendly associates! They had a story for each art work in their tasting room. The light fixture above your head was made by the owner her self! They were just super friendly, we had so much fun during our visit and their wines simply irresistible! Most notably the dry Zinfandel dessert wine! yummy! Thank you for a wonderful experience, we will definitely be back!

Had a great experience at Bodega del Sur this past weekend. Very friendly staff and very nice wines. I am not usually a red wine fan, but enjoyed all their wines, especially the Sangiovese-went home with a bottle of that! They are also dog friendly, which we appreciated since we were traveling with the four-legged boys.

We just got back from Murphys, and right now Bodega del Sur has the best deal in town on wine. We tasted 10 wines there on Saturday, and I was trying to figure out which of five different wines I wanted to buy. They were all great. They were a little busy at the time, so I hadn’t noticed the sign that said that the 2005 Merlot, 2005 Syrah, and 2006 Cab were part of a mix and match deal; pick six for $ 89. Essentially, those wines are almost 50 percent off. I’d planned on buying them all anyway, and my friends and I ended up buying almost two cases. They were honestly some of the best wines I’ve had in Murphys, and I’ve been to 16 wineries there. Go there with a fresh palate; if you like reds, you won’t be disappointed. Just be careful; they are very generous pours!

Friendly tasting room right off of Murphys Park. They were only supposed to be open until 5pm but they gladly stayed open to gather in all of us stragglers. A more standard array of California wines are offered at Bodega and we found the Syrah particularly tasty. This was also great because they were offering a half off special on their Zin and Syrah at this time. The pourers were friendly, knowledgable, helpful and had some great team work! They picked up where each other left off and made sure everyone was taken care of.

Bodega Del Sur makes more typical styles of California wine. They purchase grapes from growers in the region. You got your Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, a Syrah-Zinfandel blend, and a Zinfandel dessert wine, all of which are decent. The tasting room is very beautiful and well-thought-out. I especially loved the associate who was very friendly and knowledgeable.

It’s hard to give the Bodega Del Sur tasting room anything less than 5 stars. The tasting room associate was so friendly and helpful with all of our questions and took the time to make conversation with us as well. This was the 4th tasting room we visited that day so I didn’t taste everything that was offered. I did purchase a bottle of the Dry Zinfandel dessert wine that was amazing. The winery is tucked behind Main St. so it was a little quieter than some of the others which was nice because we always end up going tasting on an event weekend.
