What a beautiful BnB. My Fiancé n I planned a trip to Yosemite which nearly didn’t happen. Dunbar House stepped up and saved our trip. This house is gorgeous and so comfortable inside and out. I HIGHLY recommend this place and would for sure go back.

Our stay at the Dunbar House was lovely. The grounds of the Dunbar House are beautiful. In every corner there was something beautiful to behold. Fountains. Porch swing. Hammock. Flowers. Beautiful lawns. It was like Disneyland for adults. We stayed in the Blue Oak Room(attic). I literally heard a gasp come out of my husband’s mouth when we came up the attic stairs and it opened onto the prettiest room we have ever seen. Seriously, the room was stunning. Though it was the attic room, my 6’4″ husband had no problem walking around the room. I cannot even begin to tell you about the beautiful and delicious breakfasts we enjoyed. Arline is AMAZING in the kitchen. The entire Dunbar House is gorgeous. We cannot wait to come back.

Fantastic. We stayed here on behalf of PAWS and were kind of shocked at the level of quality and service they provided. The house is gorgeous, and they do a great job at keeping the 1880s ambiance and décor. The location is perfect, right in the middle of downtown Murphys, with easy access to all the little shops along main street. Park your car in the evening and forget it. There were so many amenities, from Keurig machines everywhere you look to pre-loaded Kindles in each room, to a nicely stocked candy bar. I loved sitting in the front parlor with a book and a coffee by the fire. One of the best stays I’ve had, anywhere.

We spent two nights at the Dunbar Inn, as the second two nights in a 4-day weekend get-away. Our arrival was before check-in on a Sunday afternoon; the innkeepers were happy for us to leave our car parked and we headed out for lunch and shopping. We checked-in later and found a true home experience — less like a mainstream B&B and more like visiting someone’s home. Well, someone’s home that every room has a refrigerator with a bottle of wine and snacks waiting. Pretty cool. Our room was decorated in a library motif and very comfortable, with plenty of closet space, a large bathroom/shower and flat-screen-TV. Even though the parlor and dining room has a Keurig beverage machine, every room does, too, with an assortment of beverage cartridges. Breakfast both days was creative and delicious, fresh-cooked and with a lot of fresh fruit. Unlike the Keurig coffee, the Inn’s coffee is a locally-roasted blend specific to the Inn and very good. Innkeeper Arline visited during breakfast for over a half-hour, and we learned a great deal about the local area as well as how the innkeepers found their way to Murphys. Both days, we found fresh-baked cookies, snacks and wine in the room. I hinted to my wife that this would be OK at home. In the evenings and mornings, the innkeepers maintained a fire in the parlor — perfect for reading, relaxing, or surfing the web with the free wifi. We walked around the exterior and the grounds are beautiful, especially nice on a warm day. Well-kept gardens with open space and shade and abundant wildlife. Check-in and check-out was smooth and trouble-free. We’ve visited a number of B&Bs and this was one of the best we’ve been to. Truly a home experience.

Beautiful downtown historical B&B in Murphys, California. Dunbar House 1800 sites on what use to be a 1880s mining location. Great replicas of what it used to look like plus you get town right in front of you. Beautiful location and accurate rooms. Don’t wait for a special occasion to visit. everyday has something for everyone. Don’t miss out on the steak up the street and don’t miss out on any wine tasting. A matter of fact, I just said. «I’ll just buy a glass of wine, screw the tasting» Its that kind of place. :)

Nice place. Great location in downtown Murphys. You can walk to a restaurant for dinner and go wine tasting at 9 wine tasting rooms… just walk!

My husband and I had a lovely time at the Dunbar House this past week. The room — Sequoia(decorated like a cute library) — was superb from the yummy snack and bottle of wine in the fridge to all the little amenities. Both Rick and Arline, our hosts, were gracious and welcoming and we would definitely stay there again. The gourmet breakfast by Andrea was to die for… We have stayed at many wonderful BnBs throughout the years and this is definitely one of the best!
