Amazing noodle bar, probably the best I’ve had in SLC. I highly suggest the Beef Stew Noodles!

I came here at 5:40pm to get food. The sign says they are open till 6pm, but the door was locked, and the lady inside just shooed us away angrily. 1 star for the attitude from lady inside. Closing more than 20min earlier than advertised? Cmon…you can do better than that. I really hate it when places close earlier than advertised. I’ll never know how it tastes, because this experience soured it.

My buddy found this place on Unilocal and I was eager to try it and ignoring the reviews. Upon entering the restaurant there were 2 people behind the counter chatting away and ignoring me and the other people waiting to be helped. I saw 3 things on the menu that I really wanted to try and they were all out of them. So I went with the simple things like Thai Phở, some pork and rice, and my buddy got the Tom Yum. The food wasn’t that good as it was very bland almost tasted like the ingredients were all microwaved. The only good thing about the meal was the Thai iced tea. I don’t expect this place to be around too much longer.

In the context of food at hospitals, you’re going to be super stoked to have Siam Noodle Bar as an option. It’s so different from the normal fare – and not that the food at the hospital cafeteria is bad, but it ain’t a noodle bar. But on its own legs, which is how I approached it, this restaurant is a little wobbly, but with definite merit. It’s a pretty straightforward concept – they have a bunch of foods that you can mix and match. You pick your noodle, your broth, your meat, whatever other fixins. In theory, that should be enough to perk your ears and imagination with all the possibilities. But in practice, everything felt a little bit the same. One one of my trips I came here with a couple of friends, and we all ordered something different. But when the food was handed to us in the nondescript styrofoam cup, I would have been hard pressed to find the different between our orders. That doesn’t mean they weren’t good, but I’m guessing that because of the way the food is all prepped at once in the morning and then mixed and matched all day, you’re going to want for variety. My soup and noodles was good. Not spectacular – I would have liked more zing – but it was safe. I added some meat(bbq pork, perhaps?) and that gave some variety. The broth wasn’t too salty, which can be a common mistake. After adding some hot sauce it was a fine meal. One of their targets has to be folks leaving work. While there one night I saw a nurse come in and grab a couple of styrofoam containers to-go, surely to go home and feed whoever was waiting at home. If you’re around for lunch/early dinner, go get something different. Not sure I’d stop by too often if I wasn’t already at the hospital, but I tend to want to avoid being at the hospital, and I’m not in love enough with Siam to feel bad about that.

Such a refreshing alternative! I hope they stay forever. I’ve had the phở and the beef stew, and both were delicious!!! Fresh ingredients and kind employees.

Tired of the cafeteria food at IMC? Need a break but want to stay close by? Want to save money on medications? Come here and get it extra spicy, it’ll clear your sinuses like no other. Siam Noodle Bar is the quick eats from the same people who started Tea Rose Diner nearby and Chabaar. It’s great to have something different from all the other quick eats in the area. Pretty simple ordering and it’s made in a few minutes with fresh ingredients. One of them is the sweet pea. Comes in pod and all for a crispy snap to your dish. This place already has a following with the hospital workers here getting noodles to take home. I can’t wait to see them expand their menu or have daily specials. Did I mention they have Pennywort Juice? Location: Why IMC didn’t number it’s primary building 1 instead of 5 is beyond me. Siam is located in more of an administrative building. Building 1 South Office Building on the south side of the IMC complex. They have a nice flashing OPEN sign in the window that will help you find it. There’s also a SUBWAY next door if that helps with directions.
