I just had the best salad EVER! I ordered a pear and blue cheese salad at the Café Bistro in Nordstrom’s; it was incredibly delicious. I can’t remember when I ever had a bette salad. What a pleasant surprise to find a restaurant that obviously cares about what it serves. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive to our needs. When she recommended the bread pudding for dessert, we had to give it a try. And it was so good; I can’t do it justice with words. You have to experience it yourself to relate to my satisfaction. Obviously, the Café Bistro comes highly recommended. Plan on lunch at the Café Bistro the next time you’re at Nordstrom’s(or just come for the food –it’s unbelievable!).

Yes this is the café inside Nordstrom, and it is very very good! I’m not sure why others complain about ordering at the counter on the way in because the service and atmosphere are otherwise very comfortable and include a beautiful mountain view to the East. I ordered the kale salad which was truly something special. The kale was crispy and must have been flash fried at the perfect temp, then tossed with organic baby greens, which were perfect and fresh. Add almonds, blue cheese and thin slices of crisp apple(even though the menu said pear) and voila: the perfect lunch salad. A lovely pair of crostini accompanied my salad and by the time I finished I felt both satisfied and virtuous, maybe a bit too virtuous because I went on to order the Crème brûlée, which was one of the best I’ve ever had! Everything came out with gorgeous presentation. I had the iced tea and a coffee with dessert, both perfectly brewed. Maybe next time I will have a glass of wine, just because I can. This is the place to lunch when you want to indulge yourself after a little retail therapy. C’mon-you’re worth it!

Who would have ever thought you can get a great meal right in the middle of a department store? That is exactly what you find at the Bistro @ Nordstrom’s. The deserts are always fantastic, but my all time favorite is the strawberry shortcake

What?! How did I miss this place all these years? I blame you, Unilocalers! Just kidding, this was actually a Unilocal find — thank you! I had it bookmarked for a while but kept thinking that it was the café right outside Nordstrom, which looks small and overpriced so we didn’t give it a chance until we casually met the chef a few weeks ago. My husband and I attended one of the Unilocal events(Downtown dine o’round kick off event) and were lucky to meet chef Jeremy, who coincidentally was there covering for another chef for a sister restaurant in Nordstrom downtown. He told us about Café Bistro a bit more and that prompted us to reconsider and visit. Surprise surprise — Café Bistro is INSIDE Nordstrom on the second floor! It seemed very informal and honestly overpriced because it is inside a Nordstrom. We ordered at the door and then seated ourselves in a booth. Service was good, our drinks came promptly and my daughter got her crayon and coloring book which is always welcomed. The restaurant is very open, and we can see the chefs preparing our food. My mouth started to water as I watched them prepare beautiful dishes, and my expectations started to rise. I ordered the shrimp risotto and my husband ordered a special(something with chicken that looked more beautiful than it sounds by my lame description!). One surprise after another in this magical place… my new Disneyland in Salt Lake City! My entrée was TODIEFOR. I haven’t been so blown away by food in such a long time! My husband also loved his dinner. It is true when people say that you eat with your eyes first — the dish presentation was beautiful and impecable! Everything was thought-out and precise. Such an amazing dining experience. What was even better than this is that the atmosphere was still casual, we didn’t have to overdress, or leave the kids behind to go to a 5 star restaurant, or pay $ 25+ for an entrée — it was right inside a mall! Wow. Just thinking about it makes me want to go there again. We were pretty full, but we just had to(HADTO) order dessert. We had the white chocolate bread pudding and surprise! it was ah-mazing too. So beautiful and with the perfect amount of sweet and sour(raspberry sauce). I am in love with this place! Prices appear to be Nordstrom high for a restaurant in a mall, but after dining here I think they are actually just right and maybe underpriced! Our entrees were around $ 15-$ 18. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and breakfast prices are even better(see menu pictures I posted). This is definitely a hidden gem and kudos to the chef for creating such a great menu! We didn’t have a chance to see him that night but chef Jeremy — if you’re reading this: we are HUGE fans!

4 stars because I wish we can just order seated on our table. I don’t like that we have to go to a cashier to order. Since it is called bistro would be nice to do ordering like normal sit-down restaurants. I really enjoyed my french dip steak sandwich. Very good and large portion. White chocolate bread pudding is a must! Rich and amazing. Warm and the white chocolate melting on top.

Just like Burger King! Stand up at the cashier to read the menu. Order. Pay. Then go find your own seat to wait for your food. They need a drive through now.

Service: beyond amazing. Friendly staff, open kitchen. Lisa in particular at register felt like my own mother. After my food was delivered she noticed that I didn’t get a bowl of soup but a cup instead. She came up to me and got me a bowl to go. She is a complete asset. Amazing. Food: memorable. Crab ship and chicken & goat cheese panini are fantastic. Location: Best for you could eat at fashion place mall. Price: cheap! 12.00 for a bowl of soup and full sandwich. Management: present, kind, invited me to the restaurant.

Craving a salad? Think Nordstorm Café! Actually there’s so much more than salads on the café’s menu, but there are multiple salads to choose from(including chicken, shrimp, salmon and more), and they are all so amazing, why try anything else? The strangest part of Nordstom Café, besides the fact that it’s situated inside a Department store, is that you order your food before you’re seated. To me this is a bit odd because you stand and read a menu, order and pay all before you are given a table it feels backwards. Oh well. The atmosphere is nice, there’s both booths and tables. It’s also quiet, so you almost forget you’re inside a Nordstrom store and it feels like a regular restaurant. My favorite menu item I’ve tried is the Warm Asian Chicken Salad. I don’t normally like warm salads, but this one seems to hit the sot every time. You get a large grilled chicken breast sliced over a bed of spring greens that is tossed in a light Asian dressing. The mandarin oranges are a nice accompaniment. I’ve ordered this salad to go a few times, and they do a great job of separating the hot chicken from the greens so as not to wilt the salad before you’re ready to eat it. It’s a nice touch. The star of the show at Nordstom Café is the fresh baked crustinis. They ate complimentary and brought to you before your meal, they are warm and covered in cheese — don’t be afraid to ask for more, or extras with your to-go order! The only dessert I’ve tried at Nordstom Café is the bread pudding, and it’s wonderful! It’s a decent size, definitely big enough for 2 people to share. I would definitely order it again. All in all, if you work up an appetite shopping at Nordies, or don’t be afraid to drop in/

I have gotten used to the fast casual style of restaurant where you walk up to a counter and order, take your seat and have the food brought to you. What I hadn’t run into before was the query«do you want to add a tip to this» and her expecting a verbal figure rather than giving me the credit card slip to write on. A bit off-putting. However, the faro and asparagus salad was excellent, the table service friendly(thanks for bring us a bit of bread on request) and the room civilized and not as noisy as the old stereotyped department store tea room.

My two go-to items at this place are the chicken and pomme frites and the french onion soup. Both are great. First off, I love that they pound the chicken flat, keep it tender and juicy, all while crisping-up the skin. Very, very nice. I also love that the chicken is always accompanied by a heaping pile of crispy french fries. The olive-type dipping sauce served with the meal is a very nice touch indeed. The french onion soup is always qutie tasty as well. Served with a good ratio of onions to broth, nice bread and the melted cheese on top is fantastic. You simply cannot go wrong with this soup.

I was surprised how tasty the salmon salad was. It was odd that the server sent me to the cashier to order and there wasn’t an option to add a tip. So I left the tip in cash on the table. Service was fast and kind.

I agree with another reviewer, best dining option at Fashion Place! Our whole family loves this place! Kid friendly and great food! My hubby and I have had almost everything on the menu and we have never been disappointed. We are tough critics too! The Nicoise Salmon salad, grilled shrimp and risotto, Croque Madame with the cherry preserves, & chicken and pomme Frites are some of our favorites. The chicken is crispy, succulent and flavorful. Love the kalamata olive tapenade. Their breakfasts are great too! You can never go wrong here. And the service is what you’d expect from Nordstrom: awesome!

Absolutely delicious! I’m so glad I discovered this place. We had the angel hair pasta and the rustic vegetable and cheese pizza. The chicken breast in the pasta was moist, and the tomato sauce was so good, there was almost none left on the plate. The ingredients on the pizza were fresh and tasty. The shrimp risotto is also very good. Tasty and delicious. I can’t say anything about the shrimp as I am allergic and substituted it for salmon. I am usually very cautious with ordering salmon anywhere that isn’t on the coast, but this was moist, and did not have any fishy smell. I was happily surprised! Lastly, the service was great but it took awhile for our order to arrive despite it being almost empty. However, that will not stop it from being our new favorite lunch spot!

After I got over the sticker shock of the $ 30 bill for lunch – for two people without drinks – I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by the food at the Murray Nordstrom Café. Years ago, before Sister Holland entered my life and when the credit card was king my friends and I would visit the Café at the old downtown Nordstrom whenever we made the trek down to the city from Happy Valley. There was never any question as to what you were having; you just order the blue plate special with half a sandwich and a bowl of soup or a salad. For $ 9.99, it was high on the hog dining at a reasonable price. You’d order your meal at the counter, take your number and drink to your table where a matronly server would bring your tasty food right to your table. Gone are the credit cards, the matrons and the bargain meals at Nordstrom these days; they were replaced by a well-dressed service staff and a full-scale kitchen. You still order lunch at the counter as you enter, but hold your breath as your host offers to add dessert to your already pricy meal. Today, I was not dining with Sister Holland. Instead I was out with one of our many brood celebrating her experience of practicing using her driver’s permit. While I ordered the Salad Niçoise this one has an appetite like a trucker and ordered herself a French dip. She’s been told that any boy she brings home has to have a penchant for people living alternative lifestyles and an IQ above the summer temperature in Salt Lake, so of course, I’m referring to her roast beef sandwich here. She swims and plays water polo so her caloric intake doubles that of even Sister Holland who can pack away a full size burger and then head onto dessert without missing a beat. As we sat there lamenting the price of the meal I reminisced about the good old days when we’d come to buy a new smoking jacket and silk pajama pants downstairs and then head for a miserly meal at the old café. I was dreading the thought of paying $ 15 for a bowl of lettuce and a slab of dry salmon. For our money we didn’t even get a plate of bread to chew on while we waited. After a surprisingly short wait our meals arrived. The French dip plate was piled high with herbed fries, au jus, and a ramekin of olive aioli for the fries. My salad was the perfect Niçoise with the usual tuna replaced by a 5 ounce portion of salmon. I dug in heartily and was floored. The dressing had just the right tang, the olives, sliced, were delicious mated with a grape tomato, and the eggs were heavenly eaten with the roasted potatoes. Maybe this salad was worth the price after all. A stab at the perfectly grilled salmon filet finished the deal. The salmon was tender and sweet on the inside without even a hint of any aging aroma, and with a crispy crust to create a very nice mouth feel. I had a bite of the number one daughter’s sandwich and devoured some of her fries before she bit my head off for stealing her food. The aioli was delicious with the herbed fries. The beef was tender with just the right amount of bun to make it perfect for dipping. I sort of wished we’d ordered dessert. I can’t say that we’ll be back any time soon because Sister Holland has me on a short leash when it comes to splurging on a good meal, but when I can grab one of the offspring and scan the card at Nordstrom Café before being caught, I might have to come back and pay the extra $ 10 for dessert.

Whenever my «foodie» friend, Amy, asks me where I want to go for lunch, I always suggest the Nordstrom Café in Murray(and she unsuccessfully tries to make me branch out). This is my favorite restaurant in all of Utah. I have never had a bad meal there. My «go to» is the Caesar Salad(vegetarian) with a cup of their delicious Crab Bisque. Never has it been fishy or rubbery. It’s always perfect. The Caesar Salad is always crisp, and the juicy lemons they provide give it a fabulous kick. They also include a huge parmesan crisp, which is fun. I especially love the dining style. You order right up front, and then take a seat wherever you please. Besides what I listed above, I would recommend the Mojo Pork Sandwich or the French Onion Soup.

What a pleasant surprise to find this café, thanks to the Unilocal reviews below! It was the perfect place for lunch with a friend today. Casual(order at the counter) but elegant(white cloth napkins, great service from a waiter, great ambiance). The Mojo Roasted Pork Sandwich with the warm red mole dipping sauce was divine, as were the fries stacked cleverly in a haystack fashion(there’s a reason everyone raves about them and the kalamata olive aioli.) Perfectly crispy and seasoned. The omelette my friend ordered looked great and came with fresh fruit, toast. Nicely sized portions. Wonderful service and ambiance. Delicious food and totally reasonable prices(around $ 7 – 8 for breakfast dishes and $ 10 – 13 for salads/sandwiches and $ 14 – 20 for entrees like salmon and shrimp). Definitely coming here again.

Like everything Nordstrom does, this place is appropriate, beautiful, and always a good idea. This is more of a take out style restaurant with waiter service. Weird, right? You put in your order and pay up front and then go to the table and are served. The pros about this is that you can view the entire menu before even committing to eating there. Trust me, you’ll want to eat there, because there is something for everyone. Here’s what I love to order: –Citrus Shrimp salad… it has corn, cilantro, and all sorts of tasty goodness. It’s light, yet totally satisfying. — French fries with kalamata olive oil… seriously, do not pass this up. You’ll beg them for another side of the aioli and then you’ll beg for the recipe. Believe me. — Totally tasty soups. It’s the perfect place to meet someone for lunch or get some energy while shopping. P. S. They serve breakfast all day!

I love Nordstrom and I love this café. Every time I’m in this Nordstrom, I wander in to the café, even just for a peek to see what their soup of the day is. Every menu item is great, some more stellar than others; definitely would recommend any seasonal salad, the café club and any soups! But, I really live for their fries and olive aioli for dipping. It’s not served at every Nordstrom Café Bistro in the country so even if it doesn’t come with your meal, order a side of these babies, you won’t be sorry you did. The service lives up to the Nordstrom way. Friendly, attentive and assertive. They welcome you before you step up to order and when you reach your table you feel taken care of, but not smothered. Next time your in a Nordstrom that has a café bistro, wander over and checkout the menu, you may be pleasantly surprised. p. s. They serve breakfast all day, every day!

Are you kidding me? I’m eating in a department store restaurant located in a mall? Was I going to choose the«msg» food court or that hideous Cheesecake Factory? Forget it! Super friendly staff greets, explains menu and that you order at cashier with a server to bring you your meal. I must say it’s the best lunch I ever had in Utah. I like the menu, quite a nice selection. The ingredients are fresh and my chicken was super moist and cooked to order. Nothing worse than precooked cold chicken on a salad. Homemade cesar dressing and warm flatbread croûton, yumm! If you like food and live in Utah, you’re missing out if you haven’t tried it yet.

This restaurant is located on the second floor of Nordstrom at the Fashion Place mall on the East side of the store. It is called Café Bistro. The style of this restaurant is fast casual. It is a great spot for grabbing a quick bit to eat whether you are in a hurry or just want to eat better than the food court. The food court has all the normal fast food chains available and this is a good alternative to that style of food. The food is prepared quickly and from what I can tell all the ingredients are fresh. They offer a nice selection of soups, salads, sandwiches, pizza, pasta and specialty entrees. The paninis are very tasty. They have a large stone oven they cook the pizzas in. Despite its quite hidden location it can get busy sometimes and you might have to wait. If the wait is not too long you can shop a little more, come back and easily find a table. Kids will feel just fine eating here. They have a menu online. The service was good and they were friendly. You should be able to have a nice lunch or dinner here and do some shopping.
