My kids have rented instruments here for school bands. Expensive but they are decent about billing. Good variety of instruments and accessories.

Snotty. Looking to try different band instruments and try for the upcoming school year. They do have instruments to try… hence the 2 stars. The guy that pulled the instrument we wanted to look at basically put it together and threw us in a room. He made us feel like we were not worth wasting his time. The guy said he knew nothing about the instrument and how to hold it. He told us the only person there that MIGHT know is the repair guy! MIGHT! Would not even suggest other instruments to try. Didn’t help with potential pricing for a rental, had to go to the front desk for that, at that point I just was comparing prices. Wouldn’t go there if they were the cheapest best companies. They treated us the same last year when we were first looking for a instrument but I thought I would give them another chance this year… hey lost again

So amazing! Not only is the store BEAUTIFUL inside(complete with tons of gorgeous harps, hardwood floors, and an amazing array of professional instruments) the staff is amazingly helpful! Each of them are so professional and are all musicians. Seriously — why waste your time anywhere else, when Summerhays can take care of everything you need ANDMORE!

Summerhays fixed my guitar strings for a reasonable price. As a cello player I love coming here to pick up some rosin!

Awesome music store. The woman who helped me was an accomplished concert pianist, like played in Lincoln center level of accomplished. That was fantastic. We ultimately left with a small electric piano that looks great and I absolutely love. The staff was helpful, knowledgable, and more concentrated on finding me a great instrument rather than selling something. After playing instruments for more than 15 years, I’ve been to several music stores, and summerhays ranks among the best

Top notch repair facility. Great prices! Knowledgeable and courteous staff. In fact, when I just now went in I had no idea what reeds my kid uses for his Tenor Sax so they looked up my last transaction and we got the info from there. Extremely helpful and capable of preventing mental breakdown for the day! Highly recommend

Came here for classical sheet music as one review states that it has the best selection in town. How disappointing. I have more sheet music at home than in their entire classical section. Wasted trip.

In junior high I wanted to play the saxophone. I didn’t know much about it, but it looked kind of sexy and I was just the right age where suddenly that mattered a lot. So I showed up to beginning band and when Mr. Lloyd asked who was going to be playing the sax, I shot my hand up in the air. Well, the problem was that so did so many other kids’ hands. Apparently my thoughts on shiny sexy instruments were not unique. So after holding out for my dreams for a good minute or two, I reluctantly agreed to switch to the clarinet. The thick-rimmed glasses and klunky shoes cousin to the sax. Whether it was the instrument or myself I’ll never know, but I never quite achieved the success with the ladies in junior high that I had hoped for. I did, however, have my first interaction with Summerhays music. We rented a clarinet(the«we» was my parents, although I lugged the thing around every day) for two years. About halfway through the second year I gave up trying to play the thing and just sang the right note through the instrument. And thus ended my illustrious music career. Fast forward to this week, when for the first time since those gloriously awkward years I had another chance to pop in to Summerhays. The place has changed over the few(ha!) years since my early teens, but it’s still a sharp place. They clearly have a sharp focus on customer service, as I entered I was approached warmly and then guided directly to the area I was seeking. It was nice, and I found it right away. They’ve got a wide selection of gear for every popular instrument and style of music out there. And lots of stuff that really confused me. I’m sure it’s perfectly normal stuff, but there are a lot of accessories you just never think about. And lots more I’ve never even imagined. If I have one criticism, it’s the checkout procedure. I was in a massive hurry. I found the item thanks to the nice young feller who assisted me. I was ready to pay. And then the questions came: Name. Phone number. Address. City. State. Zip. I mean, I’m paying cash. I’m spending less than $ 5 with you, not checking into the hospital. Still, it was just a minor inconvenience and while somewhat delayed I was on my way.

I don’t know much about music or music stores, but to my uneducated self Summerhays Music seems like a really nice music store. The store was really well-organized inside and everything was presented well and in good shape. They seem to carry some of everything: guitars and drums, pianos and sheet music, violins and harps, and much, much more. If its related to music chances are Summerhays has it.

If you need an instrument or sheet music, this is THE place to go in Salt Lake City. The customer service is phenomenal and it’s very easy to get approval on rentals.
