Wanna buy a piano? I know a guy. Strike that. Wanna buy a whole building full of pianos? It’s your lucky day! They’ve got just that here at Daynes. I mean, sure, it says Music Co next to Daynes on the sign.(Or perhaps below. I don’t quite recall) but there’s also a big piano on it. So it’s all about them ebonies and ivories. Grand pianos. Upright pianos. Player pianos. Shiny pianos. Used pianos. Pianos, pianos, pianos. There’s also a large selection of sheet music in the rear, which is what brought me here not so long ago. It’s tougher to find a copy of «Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer» than you would think. It is decidedly NOT in the classics section.

So, I’ll admit I haven’t been to very many music stores, but when I started teaching a few beginning piano lessons I went here first, and have never gone anywhere else. Most of the store is filled with beautiful pianos, a huge contrast to my tiny little upright with a missing ‘E flat’. Sigh. Maybe someday… first I’d need a bigger living room! For being a smaller music store, they carry a fairly comprehensive range of lesson books and healthy selection of sheet music. And I get a discount for being a teacher. I don’t think they have a lot in the way of ‘pop’ or current trendy music, I haven’t really looked for it, but I’d say go to the mall for that. The best feature of the store is the staff. They are always cheerful and they ALWAYS ask if I need any help. Then when I do need help, they are actually helpful! I have watched them go the extra mile for a customer to find a specific piece of music. Daynes has figured out what they want to do, and how to do it well.
