Monday am breakfast was a delightful surprise! The place is huge and has a great patio as well as heated enclosed patio. It’s super clean which after a weekend of bands here, we were wondering before we entered. It’s awesome! Great ambiance. We had the lobster home fries and an omelet. Highly recommend!

Fun place to watch a football game. Lively atmosphere. Large screen TVs and a diverse menu(ribs burgers soup seafood) draw big crowds. The free hush puppies with honey butter indeed went fast at our table. Friendly staff.

We waited 20 minutes ish for the two of us, at around 7:30 there were a lot of people. We got seated, and ordered drinks. Inlet sunset was fruity and sweet I liked it. The food we ordered are a dozen oysters, fried green tomatoes, burger, and one dozen clams steam pot, which comes with corn, sausage, and red skin potatoes. We were seated out there with the band and loud music, I liked the jams but way too loud, I wish I could hear what my companion was saying. The mood was still good though, people started dancing. Service was great; she was nice. Food was okay. Over priced as expected.

Awesome food, service and atmosphere. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the sunset. Great crab cakes and steak bit appetizers. Kids had pizza and we’re happy. Red snapper with garlic butter was amazing and the filet was great. Nothing better than the hush puppies and honey butter. Live music doesn’t hurt either…

Our first night back at the beach and we headed for one of our favorite places in Murrell’s inlet. Dead Dog Saloon has an indoor and outdoor(right now the walls are down) area for seating. On the weekends they have a live band playing. There is ample parking across the street since their lot is small. We started with our usual Boo Boo Bites. Tender slices of steak on top of garlic French bread. This is our go to appetizer. For dinner, each of us got the smoked sausage with a choice of two sides. The sausage was delicious. My sides were baked beans and rice. The beans were very good but the rice wasn’t a turn on for me. It had a little odd flavor to it. Mike got the beans and a corn soufflé. The corn soufflé was delicious also. If you’re in South Carolina at the beach, be it Myrtle beach, Surfside, etc. come down to Murrell’s Inlet for entertainment and food. Make sure you stop at Dead Dog Saloon for bites and drinks. You won’t be disappointed. P. S. «The legend lives on… the dog is still dead.»

At first, I was a little weary about trying this place; first and foremost, the name. I couldn’t have been more mislead, this place is incredible. The atmosphere is cozy, and ornate. The view of the inlet is incredible, and you can even sit outside by the boardwalk if the weather permits. Next: The food. We started with the shrimp & crap dip and it was fantastic, the hush puppies served along side were great as well. As an entrée, I had the king crab legs steam bucket, it was filled with crab legs, and tasted incredible. This is a place I will continue to go back to in the future! Great food, great service, and a great location.

Good view of the bayou or what ever they call it is SC(I call it a bayou in MS). The tacos that I got were tasty and my beer came out nice and cold. The parking sucked since you have to cross a busy road and try not to become road kill. I liked Dead Dog but would try other restaurants before coming back.

Tourist trap; Yes locals imbibe here and yes it has become an icon, but the wait for food is an hour at minimum and the food is fried and average. Portion sizes are average and the staff overworked. The atmosphere can be stifling and will, sweaty! The menu is varied and pretty typical for a fish covered type restaurant. Live music can be heard which is good but predictable covers for the olé folks… but if you want a good sandwich or sea food basket, this establishment compares well with the other in the same area. Price is a little, bit high for what you get… So if you like sweaty crowds, fried food, lots of beer and live music then this is a place for you. As I said the food is ok but predictable. Enjoy.

Stopped down for a golf trip(yes i am one of those jerks) and decided to settle on this place for the first game of the NFL season. The appetizers are phenomenal. It is hard to describe the feel in this place. It is a mixed between divey saloon and decent waterfront restaurant. Not only that, but when they game came one it was $ 10 all you can eat chili and wings. The wings were meh, but the chili was actually solid. The only improvement this place needs to make is to step up their craft beer game. Your state makes wonderfully delicious westbrook beer and the only IPA on tap was Torpedo.

If you consider yourself a foodie, you’ll want to avoid this place. We had the fried green tomatoes, which were crispy and the shrimp were cooked correctly. However, the Thai chili sauce is the dominate flavor. I ordered their Philly Cheese steak. Unfortunately, I’ve had better tasting cheese steaks from Arby’s. The same comment goes for the fries. I was very disappointed. My mother had the surf and turf tacos. Despite the fact that we told the waitress we were cilantro haters, she didn’t offer mom an alternate side dish from their cilantro rice. Mom also opted to add guacamole, which she said tasted ok, but it was less than 2 ounces, so be aware. Overall mom said her tacos were ok, but not anything she’d order again. We also needed the food to come with a fly swatter, since we spent the whole meal fighting off the flies. A mediocre meal could be saved by having a really great server. Unfortunately again, our waitress was on par with the food… mediocre. The presentation of ALL the food was very sloppy and unappetizing. It’s obvious the management doesn’t care about the quality of the food or service that they provide. Which is a real shame. Good reviews on Unilocal won’t keep them open forever. I believe this restaurant has some good dishes, we just didn’t find them. So try it at your own risk.

Nice location on the waterfront. Recommend the crab dip and jambalaya. Take someone with you to share the large quantities of food. Excellent service from Sarah, cost is about $ 25pp with a drink ex service. Excellent atmosphere with live music on the waterfront.

One of the best meals I had in Myrtle Beach was at Dead Dog. Like most spots on the Marsh Walk, this place gets insanely packed around dinner time, so I’d suggest getting there early or head down there before you’re starving to at least get your name on the list. We were able to snag a table on the patio with a great view of the marsh(and Goat Island. Why is there an island of goats?), so I can’t speak much on the wait, but every square inch of this restaurant was packed. The drinks were pretty weak, I don’t know if that’s because it was happy hour or what, but we had at least four drinks each and no one left with even a buzz. The service was fine, nothing memorable. prompt and friendly, but they forgot the crab legs in the steam pots and kind of haphazardly brought them out ten minutes after we pointed it out. Anyway, we started with the cajun fish bites which were quite good. I couldn’t decide what to get as my meal, but thanks to the pictures on Unilocal,I settled on the fried green tomato appetizer. Thank god for Unilocal, because I never would’ve ordered it as a meal otherwise. The pictures showed that it came with six or so shrimp, so it looked like enough food and variation to work as a meal, and wow, it was absolutely delicious. It was thick sliced of green tomato, fried to perfection, served over a bed of mixed greens and topped with Thai sweet chili sauce, goat cheese, and sauteed shrimp. It was the perfect mix of sweet, spicy, crunchy, and creamy. everyone at the table was raving over it and stealing bites when I wasn’t looking. Even after sharing it with three other people, there was still more than enough to fill me up. My boyfriend got one of the taco dishes, although I don’t remember which one and to be honest, whatever it was, it wasn’t anything spectacular. The other two people we were with both got the steam pots, which they said were good, but they definitely weren’t blown away by them. Overall, Dead Dog is just okay, but the fried green tomato appetizer alone deserves five stars. The location is great, the service was fine, and the food held it’s own. Wish the drinks were stronger, but either way, we’ll definitely be back.

«Best chicken fingers and fries around!» — as per a 7 and a 5 year old. Great dinner by the water. Drinks weren’t overpriced. Apps were good. Crab cakes a bit small as an app but ok. The shrimp and crab dip app was good. Ordered Mahi Mahi with lemon butter but it came out with Cajun rub. Our check had it right and the server remembered what I ordered so I blame the kitchen. Not the end of the world but certainly not my favorite of seasonings. My wife ordered shrimp Alfredo and I immediately regretted not ordering the same. It was awesome. All in all, a great experience. I would go back again and try the lunch menu. Good live band playing(wasn’t too loud and we were able to still carry on a conversation)

This place is great! We ended our week in myrtle beach by coming here and what an amazing way to end a fantastic trip! First of all the location here is beautiful, right on the water. My family and I decided to dine outside and it was the best decision. It was relaxing and fun experience. The hush puppies at the beginning of the meal were so delicious, warm and tasty! The tacos here are a must try, very moist and lots of flavor!!! Check this place out, it’s a lot of fun and great food!

A fun place with a party atmosphere and a view, but thats it. Maybe because this place has such a high turnaround is why the food is lacking. My party ordered the fried green tomatoes which were decent and came topped with shrimp. The tuna tacos, were poorly prepared, flavorless and not very edible. The grouper stack, just a heap of fried grouper with an over salted crab cake on a bed of greens and rice doused with a biscuits and gravy like fatty mystery white sauce that tasted like melted butter. And the she crab soup which tasted like heavy cream with pieces of crab. The only savior to this dinner were the decently made drinks that allowed us to wash this slop down. Did i say this place has a nice view and a fun atmosphere. Yeah skip the food. Eat up the view.

Wound up here two nights in a row, pretty much for the back deck’s atmosphere & music. It’s a touristy on the water with a view joint. Sampled some light fare, the standouts being the complimentary Hush Puppies and Honey Butter, which I’d probably still be eating; The Fried Green Tomatoes were awesome! Not what I was expecting at all, but perfect combo of spice, crunch, juiciness, and creaminess of what I thought was cream cheese. The Mahi Mahi taco were really good as well, I added the guacamole. The lime rice plated with them complimented them perfectly. The Shrimp Crab Dip was a bit too thick for my taste, so I’d pass on this again. Overall, looking to kick back relax on a deck with beers and music, I’d go here again.

I’ve been here 4 times… every time I’m amused by the ambiance and the food… I generally will always make it to here when I visit during my three-times-a-year visit… I’m not giving this place a 5-star because I feel like overall the food isn’t up to the 5-star quality, but if you go in and you know what you’re getting into… you’ll have a great time and good food. My advice, know that the hushpuppies and butter are like crack… OMG!!!

There is just simply nothing to beat this view and quality of seafood. I use to be a local, and this area has always been a favorite or coctails and dining. Highly recommend the fried green tomatoes with goat cheese and peel and eat shrimp. At the end of our hapoy hour, the waitstaff recommended Big Tuna for another option, but upon entering the upper open bar, ot seemed awfully sterile and boring… so we went back to Dead Dog. It just feels perfect.

We enjoyed our time at Dead Dog and we look forward to a return. The kids’ meals are affordable. I have to tell you that the Inlet grilled cheese is THE item to order out of what I saw. Their hush puppies are some of the best I have had in the Inlet. The cajun shrimp alfredo looked pretty yummy too. And of course you have to order the alligator piss drink at least once, perhaps as a good first impression on first date night for your lady? lol The service was good, but I feel for the lady working the outside deck because she was responsible for the entire room.
