Pier At Garden City

Great spot to relax and hang out with locals and visitors. Fishing spots galore with onsite mini tackle and bait needs. Pole rentals and snacks to keep you fishing all day and night long.
The BEST place for sounds, sights, and swimmers — great bands, great panoramic view up and down the beach, and plenty of fishing spots.
The pier is FREE to walk on so don’t put any stock of those posts saying it was $ 1. They’re confused — surf side pier is the one that charges.

Fun, pretty, and free parking. I love their grill cheese sandwiches. Great little outdoor bar with music and even karaōke. The beach is very wide and long great for a beach stroll.

My favorite pier. Caught lots of fish of it, and great bands in the summer. It’s a local and tourist favorite.

These people are crooks… All they care about is money nothing else… My boyfriend had purchased to go fishing on the pier. I wanted to walk across the beach with my son and my puppy. Without thinking I had left my phone and wallet in the car that was locked and my boyfriend had the keys. We were ready to go home I had asked the man at the desk if I could run and tell my boyfriend that we were done and that I left my phone in the car. he told me I was not allowed to take my dog back there and I also had to pay a dollar which was fine with me but I didn’t have my wallet on me. I asked if I could still run back there and when we came up front we would pay the dollar. he still told me no… So then I asked if I could at least yell out the door because my son was cold and ready to go. He told me no he said you may be able to wave him down on the beach. 20 minutes pass trying to yell his name and wave him down and he finally looks at me… This place is a joke and definitely crooked people work here… Money hungry bastards…

Crooks. To walk on the pier is 1 dollar. To fish came to 9.56 but the minimum to spend with credit card is 10 so you are forced to buy something to go past 10 bucks. What a bunch of crooked rip offs.

I think it’s ok, it has a café, arcade, and fishing. The close is free, which is pretty good though since the surfside pier is one dollar a person. but I think this pier is ok.

I’ve been singing karaōke here for over ten years. I love this pier. Bands at the bottom and top of the pier, fishing, people watching, breeze, the views, the drinks.
Hang out here. Be happy.

It’s a great pier to visit, especially during the summer! Any holiday, such as the 4^th of July, you could always watch fireworks as people set them off on the beach! It has a small arcade, a small restaurant that includes ice cream, bathrooms, a gift shop, and a bar on each end that open at night and normally include live bands or karaōke. It is a summer hotspot, so sometimes there can be some crowding or annoyances, but being a local, i’ve never gotten stuck in the foot traffic, because the pier if wide enough!

This is, of course, a pier. It has what you expect out of a pier. A gift shop area before you go onto the pier (with fishing supplies if you’re into that), and an arcade (there’s also one right across the street that’s bigger but not part of this). Pretty typical. As for the pier, awesome views, as you expect. But here’s the real kicker. This one is FREE. That’s right, people, there is no other pier you need to go to in Myrtle Beach area because this is the only one you don’t have to pay for at ANY time. Don’t be dumb. Be legit.

Arcade, fishing and a small café. My family vacationed here and we stopped in for breakfast a few days. The kids loved the arcade area and I fished off the pier for a few days. Doesn’t get much better than that.

Great way to spend some time relaxing and get out of the sun even. Grab a drink from the bar or a snack. Italian ice was available also.
We enjoyed walking around people watching. Also enjoyed looking down in the waters to see the schools of fish, jellyfish & sharks that hang around the pier.

We went here with excitement in mind. we were slightly disappointed. The fishing looked good but was too expensive to rent equipment. We walked through an arcade to get to the pier. As a parent of younger children, I was not pleased. it’s like walking through a toy store with no money. Instead of wanting to fish all they wanted was to play games. I can do that at home! Once we got onto the pier, I loved the view. We also got to talk to the fisherman about what they were trying to catch and what was actually biting. The most exciting part was when we watched two sharks eating the dead fish that people were throwing back. Probably not stopping here next year.

The Pier is the Eiffel Tower of the Garden City Beach area. If you don’t go, you are missing out on a big time landmark. Your friend will be like, «You went to Garden City and didn’t visit the Pier?» When you say, «Should I have?» he will hang his head in shame. Don’t let this happen to you.
As you enter, you are provided with a nice number of videogames, which makes me nostalgic for the last time I was in Myrtle Beach back in 1990. Past the bait shop, you first see a lively bar which gives way to the pier itself. With a stunning vantage point of the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful beach homes, this is a great spot to watch people, soak up memories, fish, listen to live music, have a cold beverage, or if you are in the 13 – 18 year old demographic, flirt to you heart’s content.
What’s more, there was karaōke in one of the two bars during the week, so my wife and I did our signature version of «Proud Mary» to the (delight) of our fellow vacationers.
All in all, a great spot. I don’t know if we’ll ever make it back to that area, but we will always have fond memories of The Pier!

Pro — prices to fish are reasonable, staff is engaging, shade umbrellas along the pier.
Cons– non paying visitors hanging out under the umbrellas while paying fishermen stand in the sun. Pier walkers don’t understand personal space. Nothing fun about having to tell a group of profanity spewing teenagers to move along as they decide to perch right beside you while cussing at the feeding sharks below.

Not so sure I would categorize this as an amusement park? There are about 30 games in a unconditioned arcade room (nascar games, coin dozer, skeeball, etc).
They have karaōke too where you can listen to bikers singing «I’m a soul mama» haha good spin on an old tune!
There is a lot of spaces for fishing and the people seem friendly. There was a sign that said the pier was open all night for fishing.
Even if you don’t fish, play games, or want to sing… stop by to walk along the pier for great views of the beach, jumping fish, and maybe spot a dolphin!
