So my friend says he’s in the mood for good fish sandwich, let’s go to the mall. Wait, what? Did he just say let’s go to the mall and get a fish sandwich? Yes. Ok, well I’m nothing if not adventurous so it’s off to Coastal Grande’s food court. Chef Smitty’s might be in a mall food court, but the food is pretty top notch. They make their fish sandwich out of a huge chunk of fresh haddock that’s been battered and deep fried. This thing was seriously huge, fresh tasting and worth getting off the beaten path to find. As I’m checking out the menu of sandwiches, burgers, seafood and hot dogs I notice something called the Lowcountry Burger with the oddest sounding mix of ingredients I’ve seen in a while. It’s a fresh sirloin ground beef patty, topple with Italian sausage, shrimp and Swiss cheese. In no world does that make sense, so of course I ordered it. This monster mashup turned out to be a really interesting combination that actually worked together. Tender shrimp, sausage with a nice snap, juicy burger and heaps of melty cheese all combined in one bite for a flavor explosion. One of the top 5 burgers I’ve ever eaten. Chef Smittys might be in a food court but they use top quality fresh ingredients and put a real interesting twist on their food. So, head to the mall next time you want a great sandwich in Myrtle Beach.

Great spot to get a sandwich. Been eating there for years. Love the Low Country Burger and the famous haddock sandwich. A must if you are in the area!

One of two options for those looking for good quality, delicious foods on a healthier note. I got an amazing turkey burger! Also tried the grilled tilapia sandwich. Both were fresh and tasty, and while you’re at it, the seasoned fries are an absolute must. Def worth a try. And to add two more pickles to this great experience, the staff was super friendly and courteous and seemed to be really happy to be where they were. Hard to find that in Myrtle Beach.

The food here was much better than I was expecting. The service was also friendly and reasonably prompt. If this place was local, I’d probably be a regular. The hot dogs are a bit unusual. They split them in half and fold them out like a book… so your dog is more like a burger. I asked the man at the counter and he said it was so they would cook better and the toppings were easier to add. I also liked that the BLT was on actual sliced bread. A few of the hamburger/hot dog shops where I live substitute hamburger rolls.
