We hand party of 8 and 6:30 reservation. We were seated promptly into the packed restaurant. The first surprise was that we couldn’t read the menus because it was so dark. The waitress came to the rescue with mini flashlights just for that purpose. Drinks came promptly as did the food. Once we began to eat we figured out why it was so dark. It was so we could not see the food. The steak was grisly and over cooked. The seafood paella over risotto was pale pieces of seafood over gummy rice. The fish and chips were heavy on the run of the mill chips and the fish was just ok. The one person who loved their dish had the salmon. Two stars because it was way over priced for the quality of the food. But service and staff were g

We were here for dinner. There’s a Beautiful view outside of the water. We sat up on the 2nd floor it doesn’t matter where you sit it’s completely dark. I understand setting the mood for being romantic but its over doing it. We had to read our menu using our phones and we weren’t the only one. Anyways as for the food it was delicious every plate we had was great! Seafood risotto was yummy, my black grilled Mahi Mahi was yummy, appetizer was excellent and the oysters outstanding! Tacos was great, duck wings was different. I love the clam chowder it was creamy and cut up in big chunks of clams and potatoes. I recommend this place for anybody to try.

Went Saturday afternoon about 2pm. Had been to the bar for a glass of wine w friends about a month ago and was intrigued. Great views, décor is very nice, staff very welcoming. Loved how they had little jars of oyster crackers around the bar. Decided to go back for lunch… Place was filled but we were taken to a nice table in the middle of the restaurant where I was on a bench, he a beautiful wide wicker chair. Our waitress, Ellie(?) was a doll! Big smile, perky, wonderful to have! Explained the specials, paid attention without being naggy, and(best of all!) didn’t take one persons plate away while the other was still eating! Worst habit of servers these days!!! Makes the non finished person feel like they are too slow. She gets 5+ stars! We started with a beer for him and a glass of Pinot Grigio for me. Very generous w the wine, but he noticed the beer had«expired» while he was reading the label. Our waitress immediately took it away with apologies and he got a Murphy — which he loved. These things happen, but we hope they check a little more now. For appetizers I had the lobster/corn fritters and he had the baked Camembert with rum raisins and walnuts served with crostini. He loved the it — was baked beautifully! The fritters came with a classic tartar sauce and a spicy aioli. While they were good fritters, they were neither lobster-y nor corn-y and thus the sauces didn’t really go. The lobster that WAS in there were super teeny tiny bits no bigger than the red part of a match, and you couldn’t taste them, while there were only a few kernels of corn in each of the five. I would recommend that they actually put in pieces of lobster that can be seen and tasted, more corn, and perhaps concoct some sort of sweet(honey??) butter sauce. For $ 13 I would have expected more of what it was represented as. Lunch orders were fish and chips for me, and a corned beef sandwich for him. Both came with more fries than FOUR people could eat. My fish was cooked well and nothing was overly greasy. His sandwich was fine, but nothing to write home about. He said he wished he had a pickle and there was some special mayo or aioli to jazz it up — at least the option of some spread, like they had a choice for the fritters. I had another wine, and he another stout. The final bill was about $ 90 and I have to say I was a surprised. Food was… ok, but the service was outstanding, wine was generous, and beer choices nice. Not sure if we’ll go back and give it a try for dinner. Know they are fairly new and it does take time to get out the kinks… hoping they will…

Mediocre food at rediculous prices. We recently moved here and made our way to Red 36 after some apps at Engine Room(should have stayed). Don’t get me wrong the atmosphere is incredible but the food vs price thing going on is off base. 18 $ for soggy cold fish and chips is redonculous!

Red 36 in Mystic. My new favorite restaurant. Seriously worth the drive. It’s on a pier overlooking the water of the Mystic river, surrounded by boats and the drive to get there feels like you’re going the wrong way as you drive thru boat storage and back alleys basically. Thai peanut calimari, lobster fritters, amazing brussel sprouts and fried chicken sliders are what my friend and I ordered but the rest of the menu looked incredible. I should have taken more pics but the food was too good and had to be eaten. The atmosphere was great, a beachy feel but not clam shack casual. Great spot to share food, take a date or grab a drink.

Really wanted to like this place but what a disappointment! We were seated inside on the deck with a great view of the river however that was where the enjoyment ended. They have a lovely deck and patio right on the water, however on this November evening the door from the inside deck to the patio was kept open the entire time making it freezing cold! They had large heaters overhead that were on full blast meaning our heads were sweating and our feet were getting the icy breeze from outside. Our served informed us that because the roll up door was impossible to open and close with trays of food and drink, they just always left it open, but she would ask to have it closed after the party seated outside left. We ordered linguine with clam sauce($ 23) and beer battered fish and chips($ 18.) Clam sauce was quite spicy, no mention of it on the menu. Server didn’t know what sort of fish it was, she said she thought it was cod. The French fries were cold and burnt, the fish was mediocre and tasted as of the fry oil hadn’t been changed recently, not worth $ 18. Overall the food wasn’t worth the price, and having to sit next to an open door on a cold November night while also being blasted by overhead patio heaters was very uncomfortable. Won’t be returning.

Wow… Great meal, Great location and Great service by Este. A bit expensive so be prepared but we all enjoyed ourselves. My friends ordered lobster fritters and I truly enjoyed my sample of it. My Caesar salad was delicious and my wife enjoyed her butternut squash & arugula salad. My fish & chips was outstanding!!! My wife had the Butter Squash Ravioli and truly loved it. Our friend’s also enjoyed their Risotto meal & Chicken Wrap. Nothing bad to say… other then expensive but I loved it. I’ll be back and probably order the Fish & Chips, although the lobster roll looked very tempting. No room for dessert but they had some nice options.

This place would be dangerous if we lived in mystic; great atmosphere, beautiful view, creative drinks and tasty food! The view of the harbor while the sun is setting is amazing. You could grab a drink and sit outside by the fire pit for when it is cold. We enjoyed the oysters, lobster and buttermilk chicken sandwich! This would be a regular of ours if we lived near by.

Really enjoyed this place. Very helpful and kind staff, food was fantastic. Local wines and beers, all good recommendations. We enjoyed a tier of local oysters, and little neck clams… then followed up with great creamy clam chowder and a wedge salad. Sat up stairs and watched the crowd. We will be back!

My favorite place in Westerly is the Malted Barley, which is the perfect medium of fresh ingredients, great service, and an inviting atmosphere. I was told the owners found out that the owners of it also owned red 36 in Mystic, I was super excited to try it out, but sadly I have been now told this was false. :( Parking was a mess at best, with close parking that at night was already full, which meant we had to park down the street and walk. This was ok on the way in, but on the way out, there was no light and no real path, which was dangerous and challenging for all of us(especially for us girls in dresses and heels). We arrived on a weeknight at 6 for dinner, and because they don’t take reservations, we stood around on the too-crowded deck and got body bumped all night by people milling in and around also waiting for their table. We were told our wait would be an hour, but it ended up being closer to an hour and 40 min, even with us checking in with the waitress station repeatedly. Once we did get seated, we were given the menu and a specialty menu with food and drinks. We ordered, and then 20 min later we were told that the specialties menu was from last week, and we had to re-order because they no longer had those items, which was really frustrating. We opted for some local brews, the pretty decent Lamb Flatbread starter($ 13), and delved into the correct menu. For dinner, I picked the Seafood Risotto Paella($ 25), which was horrible, over flavored, and overcooked. My husband chose the Pork Tenderloin($ 26), and he liked the meat, but the rice was too chewy and the fruit was under-ripe. Our dinner friends went for the Veal Milenase($ 28), which they barely picked at and was completely enveloped in breading, and the Ahi with Rice($ 17), which was the only main dish anyone really seemed to enjoy. Dessert was mediocre, we went for the Key Lime Parfait($ 9ish?) which really just tasted like tart eggs. Service was likewise mediocre, where we sadly ended up receiving better help from someone else’s waiter. I had really high expectations, given the positive talk about it, but was completely let down by their quality, service, and attention to detail. On top of that, the prices are way high for the actual edibility of the food, which is just depressing. The redeeming factors of Red are their location with their beautiful views, their raw bar, which seems like a way better bet than anything on their menu, and their rotating local beer offerings. Everything else needs a lot of help to reach the quality of similar restaurants in the Mystic area.

5 stars x 5 stars x 5 stars. We had a memorial lunch for my mother yesterday, who died last year and requested a late summer party in Mystic for her end of life celebration. Paige R coordinated the event in advance and had great ideas how to make it special. The food choices were spot on, and the flowers were lovely. I am still wishing I ate more of everything. She also was at the party, and managed it from start to finish. The private dining space is gorgeous, the view fantastic, the food was delicious, a great wine list and the staff enthusiastically fulfilled all the random requests by my relatives. This year has been hugely stressful, but I will always be grateful that the event was so successful and memorable. I am a huge control freak, and I have been worried about this since the day my mother died. This party was PERFECT, and I can’t say enough great things about Red 36. :)

Well, we gave it a 3rd time as we couldn’t get in anywhere else and we hoped things had improved in year two. Wait times were once again forever, my tuna was served iced cold and the«kids» meals were a joke. They don’t have a kids menu but the waitress Katie described it as something they just don’t advertise but they do offer true kid meals. I guess $ 11 for pasta with butter sauce that doesn’t include a drink is okay for them. Also no word was given that sodas aren’t refills and I only found out after I saw the bill. Who takes a drink order from an 8 year old and doesn’t tell the parent that it’s not a free refill like it is at 95% of other restaurants. Communication would be nice! I asked the waitress about it and all she could do was stammer and she was sorry for no adjustment. We then asked for a manager on the way out and was told they have 3 or 4 but none were available that day(mind you on a Saturday afternoon on a gorgeous July afternoon — QUESTIONABLE! I’ve written 3 bad reviews in my life and 2 are at this place. Disappointed to say the least and won’t be back!!!

What a great find. Take the time and walk the extra distance from downtown Mystic. Great atmosphere, waterfront dining, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and most important… incredible food. We had the Salmon chips, which is salmon on a homemade chip, topped with fried capers and drizzled with some creamy goodness. We also enjoyed the shrimp, asparagus and tomato flat bread. Omg… Best lunch I’ve eaten in a long time. Shout out to our waitress who made the experience even better. Ask for Jade.

So had to have some seafood and dining on the water. The place was really cute inside and food was great! Server and Paige were super sweet. I’d say if your wondering whether or not to go, you should say yes. I would have given a 5 star rating but iced tea was charged by the glass. That’s odd to me as a Texan.

I’d probably rate Red 36 a lot higher if it was summer time & I was still in my carousing days. I imagine it gets quite busy & fun during the warmer months when the booze is flowing. My wife & I went for dinner the last weekend of January & weren’t blown away. My $ 25 risoto was a bit mushy & flavorless. I kept picking at it hoping I would like it but had no luck. My wife’s beet salad had some beets but just looked like it could’ve been from a bag. She wasn’t impressed. For the positives I must say that I love the ambiance. It’s kinda dark & there’s this whole upscale modern yacht club vibe to the place that I’ve heard referred to as Hamptonsesque. The view of the marina is beautiful even in the winter so they have that going for them. Our loaded fries were tasty. They weren’t exactly shoestring fries but thin cut. Not too crispy but firm. I wish they had more than just ketchup &BBQ sauce for them though. If I was to return I’d come in the warmer months(hopefully when it’s not crazy busy like I’ve heard) and just order apps & drinks. Red 36 is in a beautiful location but it’s a bit pricey & the food is mediocre.

I went here with a friend to try their Bloody Mary bar. The décor & atmosphere are spot on without being pretentious or over the top«nautical». The bathrooms were beautiful, clean & well stocked. Now onto the booze! You get a choice of some great vodkas — Crop Organic, Bakon or even a premium Tequila Blanco if that is your thing. Then choose your glass rimmer — 5 different options and a great selection of mixes & add one(jalapeños, bacon, olives etc). I had fried chicken sliders with coleslaw on mini brioches and they were fantastic. The service was excellent, super attentive friendly waitress. I can’t wait to go back!

This location is simply unparalleled — you feel like you’re out in Martha’s Vineyard sipping a cocktail on the marina. A pretentious sea of Vineyard Vines, seersucker and Nantucket red shorts & polos completes the snooty nautical vibe. Still, I loved it. My first cocktail was SO fabulous — «On The Mark» made with Aviation gin, muddled blueberry, fresh mint, lemon and St. Germain, topped with a skewer of berries. Fabulously refreshing and just strong enough. My second(and last) cocktail was a miss but could have been remedied by not being so damn sweet. It was the Deep Eddy with sweet tea vodka, chambord and raspberry tea. Wouldn’t recommend it. Overall, the cocktails are pretty creative and the outdoor area is just 100% perfect, so ten stars for the location. Can’t comment on the food but I’m seeing mixed reviews here. Regardless, wish I lived less than an hour away!
