Brunswick Zone Carolier Bowl

This place is HUGE. 82 lanes. We went on Saturday, and I think we got shafted a bit. The rate changes after 8– a bit more expensive. So we go to grab a lane at about 7:30, and they tell us 45 minutes. That puts us in the more expensive time window– but whatever, we go to the bar.
Bar is hoping– shots left and right. Interesting mix of people, even for a bowling alley. We go for a pitcher of sam season. Beer tasted great. Wife also had a pretzel that was very good.
We get called a bit early, just after 8. Three games for my wife and I and 1 pair of rental shoes was over $ 50! And we are on lane 81, so a block away, and pass by LOTS of empty lanes. Definitely could have got us on a lane at the lower rate. Also, its apparently disco bowling or some such nonsense after lane 40 or so… so we get to roll in the dark with no pin specials or any reason for it to be dark other than to make real bowling impossible.
Lanes were well waxed and foot faults were very sensitive. The machines were easy to use and navigate when we had a problem. I was a bit pissed over the price, so we took our time to play all 3 games. Probably will never go back on a Saturday night, but would go back.

It’s Ok… Could have a better price arrangement for big groups.
Overall is a good place to have fun, Bowling. I’m not sure about the arcades.

Honestly, it wasn’t nearly as bad as some of the reviews say! I think people are so over-​worked up about a bigger company buying what was probably owned previously by a smaller company. The prices aren’t cheap– but they’re cheaper than New York. What I don’t love is the per person per game charge… There’s only two of us so we didn’t mind terribly but I imagine a family might be less inclined to go here. The music was fun– top hits. The lanes were spaced out and the service was average. It wasn’t dirty but it wasn’t over the top awesome looking either. I like bowling and I think it’s fun with my husband. This was a 3-​star, average place!

Strangest bowling alley I have ever been to. Lots of empty lanes and told the wait for three lanes was a full hour. We had to inquire several times after the hour was over if the lanes were ready. Pretty expensive on top of all that.

HUGE PLACE with empty lanes, but we still had to wait for over an hour!!! While waiting some of us played pool, but only one table was working. The other one’s coin slot was stuck. They have a bar, but no constant bar tender stayed around so you just would stand there until someone came. The set up by the lanes did not make any sense. The tables were staggered, but for people to get to the end lanes they literally had to walk through our group to get to them and weave between tables. The place was pretty clean and seats at the tables were pretty comfy. We had a nice time, but waited way too long!!!

Never again. Bowled two games with my 11 year old daughter for a total of 30 min and the cost was $ 40. Ridiculous. $ 80 an hour for two people to bowl??? No thanks. Not too mention rude employees. I will take my family elsewhere.

I didn’t even begin bowling and I was harassed by several regulars who claimed they were related to staff members and threatened to kick me out. I was walking through the entrance and a guy immediately yelled «Hey you got a problem?!». I was shocked by this and turned around to have a conversation with him. Apparently he thought I was talking about him but maybe because I’m Muslim he felt threatened. Two other women approached my friends and I and cursed at us, and this all occurred in front of the front desk. None of the staff members did a single thing. The bowling itself was decent, the food and snack prices were atrocious, and most of all the staff was very unfriendly. I will NEVER return to the this bowling alley.

Haven’t been bowling in years, but this place is expensive! I understand charging per person per game but to charge a rental fee for bowling shoes per game is criminal. We’re already bowling there! I also think the bowling price for little kids should be discounted too!
There lanes are nice, there’s a disco feel as the lighting is dimmed and there are some committed lights on each lane. Plenty off bowling balls, but I’m disappointed that they didn’t set up the gutter bumpers for us even though the cashier saw we had little kids and asked about the bumpers. I had make another trip to the front to ask again. Not to mention the cashier didn’t tell us about the little portable bowling ramps they have for kids so it’s easier to roll the balls down the lane. They were not easy to locate as there were many kids parties that day.
I’m also disappointed they have a weak selection of arcade games. Maybe a bunch scattered throughout the bowling alley as opposed to a stand alone arcade. There’s a lounge and food stand but didn’t try anything to eat. They also have billiards but we didn’t play.
As for bowling shoes, they are in the newer side, and not broken down shoes that smell. They spray then after every customer return.
I won’t come back. It’s not as inexpensive to bowl like i remembered. I probably will look for an alley with more things to do.

I went bowling with my family today. Since I have a young brother, we used the ramp that the ball can roll down. The employee who retrieved this for us placed it just past the foul line. That’s fine. Later in the game, this jacka** assistant manager came up to my brother and me and yanked the ramp out from my hands, fouled my brother, and yelled at us for «placing an object past the foul line» even through the ‘object’ was originally placed past the foul line by another employee. This is unacceptable. He then had the nerve to rudely tell us that we have to move down about 15 lanes down because there were evening leagues. Keep in mind. Today is the MONDAY AFTER CHRISTMAS. He didn’t even apologize. Even worse, he approached me and my brother, not my parents who were sitting in back of us. I have never met a rude employee at this bowling alley.
The only reason I give this place three stars is because of the fact that I have never had any other problems with this bowling alley, and the other employees are friendly.
The exterior remodel looks great, but the inside is still old, and needs a remodel. I like what AMF Bowlmor has done to this bowling alley.

My wife booked my birthday party here for a Saturday and the experience was terrible. We had a party with about 20 people (30 years and older). We did the package with 2 hr bowling, liquor, and food. Our time was to be 7−9pm. We arrived 15 minutes early as asked. We were told to wait for an attendant as the person who booked the party was not there. After waiting we were finally brought to our lanes at 7:30pm. By that time we were all ready to bowl and have a drink. There was one «waitress» there. We were not able to use our drink tickers to walk to the bar directly behind us, we had to have the waitress take a ticket; write the person’s name on it along with what they were drinking. Not the best system. After waiting 30 minutes my friends decided to go buy pitchers on their own. Another 15 minutes later the first round of drinks came, it was about 7 drinks out of 15 but it was something. Food slowly was set up. It would have been nice for it all to have been out at once but this was not a big deal to me. We were able to bowl 1 game, starting to enjoy ourselves, we started our second games and then 2 out of the 3 lanes broke down. The ball return was broken. After waiting 20 – 30 minutes the lane supervisor came over to fix it. Thanks pal! After throwing about 3 frames each the lanes broke again. This time no lane supervisor was able to help. At this point the frustration level was through the roof. It was around 9:20pm. The lanes got fixed but we had it. I think we had about 1hr 30mins left to bowl on the timer and about 10 drink tickets. It was a disaster. There was an asst. manager my wife was speaking with who was trying to be as helpful as possible. She was the only saving grace. The manager did call my wife the next day to try and work something out. Nothing has been finalized yet.
All in all this sucked! I will not be back to this establishment. For people who don’t know. Having a bowling party is a lot more expensive than we thought. For the price we paid we did not receive any of the service expected. All we wanted to do was bowl, have some drinks, and enjoy our selves. Brunswick Zone made all those tasks impossible.

Came here for a date on a Saturday night, and really liked the place!
Huge, biggest alley I’ve ever been to. Size of a mall, but I liked it. Felt very professional. Lanes were good, staff was friendly. Very pricey, 2 people 3 games was like 56 bucks. But awesome experience will come back!

IF YOU’RE LOOKING TO BOOK A BIRTHDAY PARTY OR EVENT, PLEASE READ.
I’ve been coming here since I was a child, and it’s slowly deteriorated in management in the last year. It’s a Saturday, and I’ve been calling these people twice a day since Wednesday night about a lane reservation for my birthday. I’ve left messages, emails, etc., and NO ONE got back to me. Every time I call, the kids who answer the phone seem to have no idea what they’re talking about and sound miserable.
Last night when I called, the girl working told me that the manager who books events wasn’t there yet, but to call at 10am this morning and to ask for Sharon or something because that’s the time she was scheduled. Well, I called at 10:15, no answer, of course. Called at 10:45, no answer, of course. SO I called the front desk. The guy who was working the front counter, Devin, was not only extremely sweet and helpful, but walked around the entire alley looking for her, then telling me that she wasn’t even there! I told him to leave a message for me, and he apologized on her behalf.
I feel bad giving 2 stars because I really do enjoy coming here. I will absolutely update my review if I’m taken care of already, but this is just ridiculous and not how a business should be run.
If you’re trying to book an event, birthday party, or reservation, you might as well go down Route 1 to Monster Mini Golf in Edison, where they actually answer your calls professionally, and get back to you within a few hours– and in the same day!

I recently came here with my friends for a Wednesday bowling league. To my surprise, before we started there was absolutely no fear in the whole establishment. Our game is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM sharp, however, that didn’t happen simply because their computer was broken. Talk about a strike!

Only use this bowling alley if want to pay $ 5 a game on a Wednesday Night. And only after waiting in line for 35 minutes when there were well over 20 lanes available. The wait may have been attributed to the place being severely understaffed (so the cashier couldn’t handle what turned out to be only 5 groups /​families in front of ours) or just they are just extremely slow.
Top that off with the last bowler in our group, on his 2^nd roll, in the 10^th frame, game was cut short because it was closing time ??? They just killed power with no regard. I could understand if he was in the 7^th or 8^th frame even. But to cut his game at his last roll of the night, shows how impassive and indifferent the staff’s attitude is towards customers.
So after moving to Franklin Park and using this facility for the past 5 years, I am cutting ties with this place. Bigger isn’t always better. As of late, I have been finding the staff to be more difficult to deal with when experiencing defective or lane malfunctioning issues.
I get that its a business and people don’t really care what your experience is so long as you pay the going rates. But I can’t help but feel I am not getting my monies worth and may fair better driving to bowling alleys in Woodbridge, Piscataway, and even Linden.

Worst experience that I have ever had as a customer anywhere. The staff is extremely rude and not respectful of the customers.
Went bowling with a group of people on $ 2 Tuesday. We arrived at 8, and had to wait until 9:30 before a lane opened up, which we didn’t mind. We all purchased 2 games. Somewhere around the 7^th frame in our 2^nd game, our lane was shut down. The staff told us it was 11pm and they were closed. They then refused to give us a refund, even though we paid for two games already and didn’t get to finish the second one. They claimed there was a sign on the door that said they closed at 11, however they never informed us that if we did not finish our game in time, it would be terminated.
As we tried to reason with the staff, they kept coming up with reasons why we were in the wrong and should know better. I say it wouldn’t hurt to tell your customers before they buy multiple games that the lane might be shut down before they finished. Imagine if restaurants treated people this way… getting kicked out in the middle of a meal? Seriously, bad staff and terrible experience and I won’t be going there again.

The mixed feeling I have for the bowling alley are strange. On the one hand, I bowled here in high school and have fond memories. On the other, I have come here countless times and had miserable experiences due to staff and other patrons.
Come here on a Friday or Saturday after 4pm and be prepared for rowdy intoxicated belligerent bowlers who have no respect for the game or its rules.
While I understand that the staff cannot be responsible for or reasonably expected to watch all the lanes for inappropriate behavior, it is not acceptable to expect patrons to police other patrons. In this bowling alley I have shared lanes with people who have thrown my personal ball in horseplay and gotten it stuck on or in the lane. I also think it’s strange no one is ever told to quiet down no matter how loud, disruptive, or obnoxious the behavior. I have personally been a part of a group of literally, 6 lanes made of more than a dozen people who approached one such disruptive group.
There are also several lanes that don’t have a table and set of chairs easily accessible. Because of this, if you are placed on any of these lanes you have to walk down some stairs and in between other people’s tables to get to your lane. Despite being asked to be moved to another lane, I was told by staff «actually, your table is up here.» As if that was logical or convenient to me, the paying customer. Further, if I ask to be moved one of the many other available lanes, I’m not sure why my request should be refused.
I have also had issues why the staff serving food and beverages on the lower end of the building. While I understand the importance of age verification when serving alcoholic beverages, particularly in a venue where people of all ages are allowed entrance, I also think there is a professional and an unprofessional way to go about it. Personally, I am closer to 30 than I am to 20 and don’t appreciate being told I can’t pay for my purchase until I walk back to the lane, collect IDs, and walk back to the counter. Especially when you can see I have a very anxious small child with me who ordered a bottle of water.
There is also a 2 hours for $ 14.95 per person including shoes special they run on the weekends. The issue is that you can not purchase lanes any other type of way when this special is running. For example, if you show up less than 2 hours before they close, you still have to pay for 2 hours and leave when they close.
Finally, this is just my opinion, but the cosmic bowling is a little distracting for me. But if you’re into it, they do have that amenity. There are some lanes that stop keeping track of the score properly once the music and black lights come on.

This place sucks. We went with a group for bowling and paid $ 22.50/pp. It included pizza and drinks. Bowling was good but the food experience sucked. What kind of place serves pizza but runs out of garlic, crushed red pepper etc ??? SHOCKING !!!
I ordered a salad as well and they dint have oil and vinegar dressing. I was amazed that they cannot stock up on oil n vinegar. What kind of place that serves food doesn’t have oil n vinegar ?

Absolutely terrible customer service. We called a week in advance to book a few lanes for a event, and were told that they were not taking reservations. The person on the phone assured us that as long as we arrived before 5pm, we would be fine. We confirmed with them twice, and were assured that there would be lanes available.
Arrived today at 3pm, and were told that they have zero lanes open due to a high school reservation. Will never use this establishment in the future.

So in order to change the music, you have to call 855−300−9663 …but nobody answers.
I was expecting a huge crowd and possibly a wait as it was a Saturday night. It wasn’t very busy which I was happy to see. It still cracks me to know there’s a barber shop inside the bowling alley. The bar was still open although I didn’t order anything. But back to the music –awful selection (in my opinion).
