This place needs new staff. Very unfriendly. They make you feel like you’re annoying them. Food usually is good, but if you get the more cranky waitress, don’t expect their best. I will go here less and less, if they don’t step it up and be more friendly. There are way too many other local places with better food and friendly staff.

A typical«Greek» restaurant with a huge menu. One would be hard pressed to not find something they’d enjoy or which they are familiar. Lots of comfort food items — even real roasted turkey, meatloaf, etc. The Greek salad didn’t have beets; we asked the waitress and she said a true Greek salad doesn’t have beets. Okay. Anyway, food was home-cooking good, not fancy in any way. Basic bread basket brought to table. Prices a bit higher than anticipated, but this is a touristy area. The food was tasty, the portions were HUGE. Plenty of parking. Does take credit cards. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Kitchen was a bit slow, didn’t see any fault of waitress. We are between 6pm-7pm, and were seated promptly.

Dated Diner Delight. Though the place both outside and inside is in need of some TLC, the food was surprisingly tasty and portions are HUGE! Soup, Salad, entrée and dessert all for under $ 13.

LFIB * Black bean & Rice Soup, watered down special soup of the day. Gyros meat is the packaged version, that is supplied pre-sliced and uniform in size. French fries okay, and great parking lot. * lousy food in bulk.

Been eating here for over 20 years. Good food, and plentiful at good prices.

Best breakfast I’ve had in a very long time! Service was excellent, scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, home style potatoes, toast, bacon, and sausage gravy, coffee. my friend had eggs with bacon, cheese, gravy, toast, juice, sausage gravy and home style potatoes… very delicious, huge portions and only $ 17.00. We’re both pretty picky and I’m particularly picky about breakfast foods but I can honestly say this was outstanding. I’ll definitely recommend their breakfast and will visit again.

Small hole in the wall(street) Greek restaurant. Has a kitschy feel to it from the outside, but the staff is friendly and the water is cold(even when you ask for some to go!). Two Greek pizzas with fries and the cabbage soup was ordered for lunch. I don’t remember what the third person in my party ordered(as I’m writing this several weeks afterward), but they really enjoyed it. The Greek Pizza was loaded with spinach — to the point I felt that there was an entire 1 pound can dumped on it. I’m not complaining by any means — it was damn tasty. The pita bread held up and nothing soaked through. The cabbage soup is a chicken broth base, so it’s yellow and not red, like we all thought. Soup was good, and an interesting twist with the chicken broth. Would I go back? Certainly, if I were in the area.

Just ok food, no flavor, would be good value if food was worth it, dessert comes with most meals, but to charge .50 cents for cheap air can whipped cream, disgusted me, maybe different if was homemade?. Décor dated, nothing to get excited about, will not be back.

Try the Greek specialties. They are fabulous. The price is right here; most meals come with soup, salad, bread, and dessert. The staff is fast and friendly. The restaurant is extremely clean. Go. One of the best finds in Ft. Myers. You can’t go wrong by dining here.

Typically decent food for the money, but service has recently gotten bad as of late and today, instead of bringing me menus, the owner and busser rolled silverware. And when I raised my voice to get a menu, the female owner gave me a dirty look, but did bring menus. And after a longer than usual wait for food with 4 tables, my coleslaw had a large piece of plastic in it. The waitress let management know, and upon her return, the waitress apologized again, no comments about any discounts for the foreign object in my food, and no apology from management. When I went to pay the bill, the female owner checked me out, didn’t ask how my meal was, didnt apologize for the foreign object in my food and so on. I guess you really do get what you pay for.

After having breakfast there the other day I think that will be my last time. Went there anticipating a good cup of morning coffee, but it was more like dishwater. When I got to the bottom of my bowl of grits, there was a butter wrapper stuck to the bowl. When I informed my server about it she merely said«that happens alot». Just leads me to believe that the cooks don’t check what they’re putting out and makes me wonder if the back of the house is as dirty as the front of the house.

I absolutely love this place… I would eat breakfast here everyday if I could. I manage to order the same thing every time; fried egg and sausage sandwich with home fries… Goodness it’s so so so so good!!!

I’ve been eating here with my parents since I was a teen. The menu is extensive, the food is good and volumous, and staff is friendly. It is dineresque and reasonably price, a local gem. I used to go here 3 times a week before my dad passed away. Split Pea soup in Thursday is excellent. I so enjoy it that I bring reps and vendors for my business and I even advertise on the tables!

Well after several recommendations by folks I swim with at the community pool. I checked out this place. It was a Sunday around 1130 am. Place was half full You seat yourself. My waitress, Irene was Outstanding! Explain the menu pointed out the special. told what she liked. Very personable. This is not a fancy place an OLD School basic food. An entrée comes with soup, salad,(Greek is great) roll, 2 sides and a dessert. Menu has Lots of seafood, pasta, large breakfasts, lamb shank meatloaf chicken fried steak, etc.. Service was good. If you are a calorie counter stay away. If you are hungry bring an appetite and a doggie bag. I will definitely return.

Another visit to Fort Myers, thus another visit to the Athenian! It’s a short walk from my grand-rents place, so we always stop by when I’m in town. Now, normally, I order some kind of main which is accompanied by the largest glass of beverage you’ve ever seen, a breadbasket, some kind of soup, and also a dessert. It’s just way too much food and we end up taking home huge portions. However, this time I chose the gyro sandwich with a side of fries and I was able to finish it all. And it didn’t disappoint. Kudos to our waitress Aleda who prevented me from ordering a gyro plate, which I never would have been able to finish. You’re not getting authentic gyro meat cut off the spit here — you’re getting something akin to the steak ummm’s of the past(PM me if you remember what these are!) stuffed into a fluffy pita with a side of tzaziki sauce. Luckily for me, that doesn’t bother me, but I know it would bother some folks who were looking for the«authentic» Greek experience.(If you want that, please go to Greece. They could use your money right now.) Like I said before, this place is really geared toward the senior crowd and it’s reflected in the menu and their daily specials. Get over it. You’ll most likely find *something* that you can eat, just wade through the menu. Next time I’m in town — I’m all over the stuffed grape leaves, Greek salad and sampler plate. Next time, Athenian, next time.

If you are in Ft Myers and are looking for Greek food, try this place. It has several selections, maybe too many, but my favorite is the Gyro Salad. I would place it in the top 3 in Ft Myers.

We have no choice but to settled here for lunch because nothing else open on Christmas day. I wanted to share a set lunch, but was told there is split charge. It is fine then. a moment later, we were told that we can’t share. so I ordered a kid’s meal. Not a friendly restaurant. one and oneth third star.

Ok this is as close to Greece as I can get and the food is Autentic. I had the large Greek Salad with Chicken Aka Chicken Kabob Salad then I had an Open Faced Grilled Chicken Samdwich. Bravo Athenian. Will be seeing you soon. Happy eating
