Worst food ever not well kept or maintained. It’s was ridiculously expensive 25 dollars for two people including the Valentine special and sfa student discount. Food was very soggy. Employees not properly trained«she(short girl) is new she doesn’t know what she is doing» told by the tall Asian man, messed up charging me twice, accidentally charging me the wrong price the first time and not refunding me the money until I realized on my bank statement. If anything go to nijiya restaurant it’s close by.

My mother and I visited this place around 3:30pm and were seated. The food wasn’t appealing based on first sight. Shortly after our first trip to buffet — they began putting out fresh food and seafood and we were told its for dinner guests only and they brought us our bill. I looked at Bill and it said«2 lunch buffet». We asked when dinner started because we wanted the fresher food and seafood and they said 3:45 and it would be $ 3+ more. Unbelievable. The food was cold and disgusting on the 3:30pm lunch buffet. Dirty, rude staff, and skeptical lunch/dinner timing. I will never return. Also, the sign says«Crab Legs» and«180 items» yet, you can only have certain items and they rush you your ticket to try and prevent you from enjoying the fresh«dinner items» whenever you arrive around 3:30 and not aware their lunch/dinner shenanigans. Lastly, use the restroom before you visit, that is if you dare attempting this scam, because they are disgusting.

Best Chinese and Asian in Nacogdoches. Buffet plus ordering from a Hibachi grill plus a nice but limited sushi selection. Lots of vegetable and seafood selections, good hot and sour soup and three other soups, two types of lo main and rice, much better than average seasoning on entrees. Very reasonable buffet and take out prices, highly recommended.

The food was horrible and cold. They charged us all extra and the cashier kept insulting us

Large amounts of choices of a variety of buffet items both Asian and American. Food that I had was overcooked and oversalted. I did try the sushi which was blah but I did not get sick so that was nice. The restaurant has their cleaning supplies and bus items right by the entrance which is next to a water feature. This is a real turn-off. The bathrooms were not clean. I will not return.

I have enjoyed the food at Ocean Buffet every time I’ve been there. They have a nice variety of food, including sushi and a Mongolian grill, and the price is not too high. The Mongolian grill has been the highlight the last few times I’ve been. Always packed around lunch, but I’ve been around 7 and been the only person in the place. Overall, a good experience and the best Chinese food in Nac.

I had been there two to three time the food was ok for a buffet not anything to write home for. I went back about six month for lunch. I was sitting there eating and roach crawled across the back of booth in front of me. I was floor I just had to leave. I will not be going back

Nothing special. Your standard asian buffet. They have the«mongolian grill/stir-fry» option, which I usually enjoy, but I have tried the mongolian grill at Ocean Buffett on two different occasions and have found it to be mostly flavorless with the exception of a «burnt» flavor undertone. Last time I asked if they could spice it up a little bit, and it only came out tasting even more burnt. So from now on I will just stick to the buffett and sushi. Both of those are good, albeit they don’t really stand out, as its mostly standard fare. They do have«hand made eggrolls» as an option, which have a tasty filling and are long and skinny(it looks like they take a eggroll wrapper and put filling in it, and then roll it like a mexican taquito).

It’s really sad and unfortunate that Ocean Buffet is basically the«best» chinese buffet Nacogdoches has to offer. But hey, it’s definitely much better than China Star! It’s not the worst I’ve ever had, I’ve never gotten sick, but I’ve truthfully had much much better in my lifetime. I do still go to Ocean and can honestly say that my last couple of trips were by far better than my first. My first trip was HORRIBLE. Everything I put on my plate and tried to eat seemed to taste slightly burnt, like the oil it was all cooked in that night was burnt and needed to be thrown out. I ended up giving Ocean a second chance, and they did redeem themselves. I’ll keep going, but Nacogdoches could do so much better. It’s just kind of sad and disappointing.

Stopped in tonight to get sushi rolls to go. The staff were very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The shrimp tempura and eel rolls were delicious!

I will never eat here again. The food was not even close to being fresh and to top it all off there was a ROACH crawling on the salad buffet! Makes me wonder what the kitchen is like! I tactfully told a waiter and he got one of the guys from the back who proceeded to kill the roach with his bare hands… Ew!

Things have definitely improved since my last review. They got new tables and booth seats. The salt and pepper shakers are nice and clean now. I don’t know how they handle complaints now because I don’t have any. OK, I guess the sushi rice could be a bit sweeter and sushi tongs need to be switched out more regularly. The sushi is much fresher looking than it used to be and there is a good selection. The servers even remembered that I like extra ice with my tea. Although it’s not perfect, it is very good and I recommend it heartily to anyone who loves Chinese food.

This restaurant has a very wide selection of items. Most of the items are rather bland. Spicy items should be spicy.

Best buffet in Nac. They have great variety and tasty food. It is really inexpensive as well. My favorite dishes are the Moo Goo Gai Pan, shrimp with lobster sauce, sesame chicken, and hunan beef. Plus I love that they have diet specials(steamed rice and sauce on the side). They also have a great sushi bar. As far as ambience, the décor is pretty nice.

Best Asian buffet in town without a question, but that is only because every other buffet in town is so terrible. In another city Ocean Buffet would be mediocre at best. While I know many people that rave about the taste, I find most of the food taste likes it’s been intentionally made more bland to be more acceptable to a wider audience. That’s just not what I’m into. The waitstaff is adequate but reminds me a group of gossiping teenagers more often than not. Food quality is good, but nothing spectacular. They keep the sushi right next to the raw meat for the hibachi grill, which I find very odd. The sushi is generally better than most buffets. If you want a buffet, Ocean is the only place you should consider in Nacogdoches. If you want good Asian food, Sushi Ya, Asian City, Peeking, and Szechuan would all be better choices.

The food is pretty good, nothing spectacular and in my opinion there’s better food in Lufkin. The waitstaff was really unattentive and socialized more than anything. The sushi/teppanyaki bar was a nice touch though!

Ocean Buffet, in Nacogdoches, is probably the best Chinese buffet I’ve been to in the last 15 years. If you go during the peak hours of lunch or dinner, the place is packed. So packed that you will most likely have to wait 5 minutes for a table, particularly on a friday or saturday night, but it’s worth it. More people means more fresh cooked food. Remember: Never, ever, go to a buffet at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. The regular buffet fare like General Tso’s Chicken, Sesame Chicken and Broccoli Beef, etc., are all slightly above average, but nothing super special except that they definitely put more meat in the dish than your average Chinese buffet. They do have a few dishes that stand out from the crowd though. Their Cashew Chicken is quite good and they don’t skimp on the cashews like All of the other Chinese restaurants in town except Asian City.(BTW, Hong Kong buffet on North St. near SFA uses NO cashews in their Cashew Chicken. Lame. The only reason to go there is the Hot and Sour soup.) The Chili Chicken at Ocean Buffet is always crispy and perfectly done(good and spicy), and the Shrimp with mixed vegetables is outstanding. It’s worth the $ 6.95 lunch price just for those two dishes alone. The sushi and the hibachi station are on par with every other sushi and hibachi grill in town, which means: they are nothing special. Skip them. Like other buffets, the dinner price is slightly higher than lunch,(around $ 10) but you are offered a wider selection, including some non-Asian fare like pizza, broccoli rice casserole, and fried chicken, which I presume is provided to specifically cater to annoying children and ignorant rednecks who refuse to eat anything different, or believe Chinese food is made from dogs and cats. There are also a few premium items like ribs, steak, scallops, and crab legs, as well as boiled crawfish, sauteed squid, mussels, and lots and lots of shrimp. There’s a fully stocked salad and fruit bar that even offers Kimchi and marinated octopus. If you like Korean food, you will probably appreciate these additions. I know I do, though the kimchi is unfortunately not fermented. There are also the dizzying array of desserts which I typically forgo since I’m usually too stuffed to enjoy them. But, my wife likes them. The wait staff is friendly and professional and the kitchen staff(unlike most of the other Chinese places in town) are actual Asians. This may seem a nit-picky point to make, but I prefer my Asian food be correctly cooked by Asian people. Jim-Bob or José down the road may make perfectly good chicken fried steak or catfish, but keep them away from my Kung Pao Chicken.

Best Chinese buffet in Nac or Lufkin! We live in Lufkin & go to Nac just for this buffet & the crab legs! Just wish they served frog legs too! Excellent Chinese pepper steak, general cho’s chicken, butter shrimp, and love the habachi grill and crab ragoons! Better than most buffets in Houston, Texas I have ate at!

As far as buffets go, it is pretty awesome. This buffet has everything, it’s better then a lot of Asian buffets in large cities that I have been too. They have many of the Asian favorites along with American favorites such as pizza and chicken fingers. What you have to love about this buffet is that they have a grill and open sushi bar. You are able to have items cooked for you and have them make whatever sushi items you like. The last thing that amazes me about this buffet is it’s awesome fruit and dessert options. Overall a place you can stuff your face and be satisfied! Plus it’s priced extremely well.

I didn’t expect much(well not much more than«Over 180 items!!» on a crappy buffet), but they were OK. Many buffets have come and gone in Nac over the years and this one seems to be the best I’ve tried. Their food was standard American Chinese buffet, but they had a few items I’d never seen before. The one thing that stood out was their«House Bread»… I know it has to be dunked in butter, but there was something else about it that I found amazing. I’d definitely go again.
