Fin’n Feather Waterside Inn

I loved our stay here! I found the hotel on Priceline and got an amazing deal with a coupon from Cheap Tickets. I didn’t realize we were booking a water front room which was an absolute plus! The room had a small fridge and microwave so we could buy food. It is also pet friendly so we were able to bring our dog! Check in after hours can be done by calling the toll free line so keep in mind that someone may not be at the front desk if you come in the late evening. Overall the location is great and we loved it!

I saw the last review about the jetted tubs… don’t know if the rooms are different, but ours had a tub that was very old (and blue)… no jets!!! It had crusted fixtures from salt water I imagine… and to go along with the bathroom experience — the bathroom sink was not actually in the bathroom area — it was in the main room with the bed. Tub and toilet in a room… sink in main room. I like to pack smart — or so I tell myself — and I leave everything on the hanger and pull it out of the suitcase to hang up… well, this is THE FIRST PLACE I have ever encountered that did NOT have any closet. They did have an ironing board and iron attached to the wall behind the door, so I used that to hang my clothes on. On the plus side, they did have a mini fridge — which they noted on their site… they also have a microwave and general kitchen utensils and plates which they didn’t highlight in their online experience… it would have been nice to know that. They also have a keurig in the room we had. Also, a nice to know…
The place was old, but acceptable and had a dock area on the backside that was nice to sit and relax.
They also indicate that they are «pet friendly» and do not charge extra for pets. There is a reason places charge extra — to cover the cleaning cost… since they don’t charge extra, I guess they don’t do any special cleaning — which was evident from the stains on the carpet near the door.
Oh… they indicate they have Wi-​Fi… cough… the signal is non-​existent… so don’t rely on that.

OMG… What a dump!!! The rooms smelled so bad we almost had to leave, but unfortunately there were no other rooms nearby. Besides, no refund without a three day notice. So we stuck it out, went to the store to buy some fabreeze and hit the local bars. As they say, «you get what you pay for!» Worst hotel room I’ve ever stayed at!!! Don’t do it!

I stayed in a two queen room. Pleasant and spacious with a big window view of the marina. The young blonde working the desk was friendly and accommodating. Deep enough within the Outer Banks to be in good distances of all beaches and nearby food. I recommend highly!

Just FYI’ing you that they have some really draconian policies. They sent me an email three days prior to my stay with the check-​in time, which is 4 PM. We had a wedding at 5 PM, so I called to see if we could get in at 3 PM (one hour earlier, a reasonable ask) so we could clean up and get dressed beforehand. They denied our request. Based on this, we told them we needed to cancel our reservation — but their policy is they need three days notice to cancel, otherwise they charge you. Keep in mind, they can ELECT to waive the fee, which they did not. Even major hotel chains let you cancel one day in advance with no penalty.
So much for the nice mom and pop service you might expect!

This motel is amazing! They have individual rooms, jetted tubs, showers, a mini-​kitchen. It’s also really close to beach activities. I would definitely stay here again.
The only downside is the wifi isn’t so strong.
