In Nantucket for work and looking for a morning cup of coffee near our inn. The Bean was a block away so I decided to give it a try. During my last visit to the island I discovered the Handlebar Café and loved it so my standards were high… The Bean is a nice, open, and inviting space. Seating is available inside and there is a nice set of benches outside that would be great for mild summer days — today was neither do I opted to sit inside! There was one, very busy, woman behind the counter so it was not a quick visit. Her friendliness, however made up for the short wait. I ordered my coffee and a ham & cheese croissant. The coffee is good but nothing memorable. The croissant was tasty and loaded with ham — a filling meal. If you’re staying nearby, The Bean is worth a try. In addition to what I ordered they have a large menu to choose from with the full range of sweet to savory.

Best dry cappuccino in years and best sandwich ever. French roll was toasted and slightly crispy but still soft. Everything incredibly fresh and delicious. What a wonderful find!

The Bean is a great place to meet friends. The sandwiches are delicious as are the muffins and other offerings. I am not a coffee drinker, so I cannot attest to the coffee, although others tell me it is terrific.(And roasted on the island.) But, I do drink various non-caffeinated teas and their hibiscus, hot or cold, is absolutely delicious. On a hot day, nothing quenches your thirst better than an iced hibiscus. On a nice day, it is great to take your beverages and food to the little pocket park outside of The Bean or down to the Atheneum garden. The Bean has wi fi and it is a pleasant spot to use your computer. The staff is friendly and helpful. So — Go to The Bean!

My husband and I just spend 5 days on Nantucket. On 3 of those days, we ended up at The Bean for our morning coffee. It was by far our favorite morning stop. Not only was the coffee delicious, but their morning treats were wonderful. My favorite was the cranberry orange muffins — they were the best! We will definitely head back to this morning spot when we return!

The overall experience at the coffee shop was okay. There wasn’t anything very extraordinary about the shop. I ordered a Milano and thought that the violet colored paste they olive tapenade they pasted on to my sandwich was overpowering and a bit hard to eat. I can’t say I will go back, but if i do, I will not get the Milano.

I can’t really give a comprehensive review because all we got here was one latte and one coconut/aloe drink from the cooler. I like this place because they offer healthy drinks for those of us who don’t like to drink crap. I had the coconut water with aloe… it was good and it came in a glass jar… which is why I gave this place four stars. I don’t drink out of plastic!

On our way walking around Nantucket, we were in need of a pick-me-up. The bean to the rescue! A research from my fellow Unilocalers lend me to this coffee shop, at first we went to the wrong spot, as they had just moved locations, but after asking we found out way. A couple of main points: They had a lot of variety to choose from, desserts to eat, restrooms and a bonus… free wifi! It was worth the stop and a great place to re-fuel. The servers were friendly and the shop was large, not crowded. They also had a little water dispenser available with water cups.

Been to the new location twice and it is very roomy compared to the former location. I think they could add a few more tables. I like the coffee and while some of the staff seems a little unexperienced, I will keep coming back.

I love the coffee. It is delicious. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The place was spacious and clean but not the most comfortable place to stay for hours. Clean, simple, and food coffee.

My favorite coffee spot on the island. I was able to do work here while also being social. Not to mention, the girls who work there are extremely sweet and helpful.

First off, it’s on India Street close to Federal Street. The place is a typical coffee shop. The servers, not super friendly in fact, today, rather brusque. They use a liquid concentration for the chai. I had a green tea latte with soy which was a whopping 5.00 for a small. Honestly, with the prices and chilly reception, I’d pass next time.

Although i cant say anything about the coffee, everything i tried has been good. I had their coconut bubble tea twice in 2 days. It wasnt crazy sweet which i like and their chocolate zucchini bread with cream cheese icing was ok. I wouldnt get that again but the other items like the banana bread are good. It really depends on what you get.

The Bean has lost whatever soul it might have had at the old location. Overpriced, rude help, no AC in high summer. Last shop on my list of 5 coffee shops on this island. I’m a local too. Met my wife at old Bean so sad to see this shift.

Wow. What crappy coffee. Burnt flavor with a hint of stainless steel. What happened since you moved from the old place? Focus on the coffee and not the food. It’s gone from a funky bohemian joint, rare in ACK, to a bland joyless cash register.

The Bean is in first month of transition since moving to India Street from it’s old location that was really homey. Their challenge is is to make the new location as welcoming, cool, friendly and intimate as the much smaller location. Right now it feels a bit sterile, but the Drip coffee is still some of the best on the island with good people working there.

The old bean is gone and the new Bean coming. But the quality is invariably excellent. Best and freshest cup on the island.

When we got to nantucket it was very cold and rainy. this was a great place to warm up an get out of the rain. The Bean has a nice, cozy feel to it and has plenty of board games to waste some time. Definitely worth stopping at considering the island doesn’t have a dunkin donuts or Starbucks.

I have nothing but love for coffee shops and this is a homegrown coffee place in all its glory. Feels very organic with their scones, coffee, and wifi. What Starbucks was before it got big. It’s perfect for this island and worth stopping in to try something.

Hhhhhmmm — don’t even wanna give them 3 stars because they don’t have a bathroom or outdoor seating, BUT it is a cute local funky coffee shop… They offer not only soy milk but also almond milk and rice milk, which rocks.

After taking an early morning ferry from Harwich to Nantucket, we were in desperate need of some caffeine and stumbled upon The Bean. While expecting to chug a quick cup of coffee, I didn’t realize it would be quite so delicious. I ordered a cup of their Ethiopian blend conditioned in Cisco rum barrels — such a fun way to showcase two great Nantucket businesses in one! The coffee was pure perfection(hints of rum didn’t hurt) and a quick rest at the café was the ideal start to our day trip.
