My fav place for dessert! Everyone is always so warm. I love the selection of small plates. The hostess went out of her way to accommodate our party. I visit this place every time I’m on the Island. No complaints!!!

The atmosphere is cozy that this place. The dinner plates are eclectic and fun. The silverware is tossed into canning jars on the table. I had the half portion of Carmelized Brussel sprouts with grapes, capers and soft boiled egg. For $ 17. It was one of the most surprisingly delicious Brussel sprout dinner I could imagine. I was hungry and could have eaten more, but the meal was well worth the cost. Husband had a pressed beet salad with whipped goat cheese. He loves beets and said his meal was delicious, too. His salad was adorned with fresh figs… yum! The meals were smaller dishes… half way between appetizer size and dinner sized… so we had room for desert. I had pear crostata with ice cream, which was the best I have ever had. Husband had the chocolate bread pudding, which he said was very good. Meals are beautifully prepared as well as delicious and inventive. I gave it four stars because I would have had their faro island salmon, but when I asked if it was farm raised the waitress said«yes, but it’s organic farm raised». Farm raised fish, even organic has no place on the dinner table!

We had a large group at the Proprietors in September 2015. Service was impeccable; the food was absolutely delicious. It was all small plates and they did a great job timing everything /adjusting pace for the entire large group as the meal progressed. They’ve been one of my favorites since they opened a few years ago. Love this place. The new menu lacks the Socca Tart, which I would love to see back on the menu ;-).

Fantastic food with a unique palette. Tom & Liz created a new paradigm for all of our taste buds. Sorry to see them go, but wish them the best of luck in their new endeavor.

I’ve been twice this summer and had a variety of dishes from their very exciting menu, and each mouthful was delicious. The baked oyster«snack» is something I crave just thinking about it. Any of the pork dishes were outstanding, a corn soup with lobster hush puppies was amazing, and their take on tater tots should win some sort of Best Of prize. I am not normally so excited by dessert but the doughnuts and the Strawberry Mess were both incredible. I think this ranks up there with some of the best restaurants in downtown NYC.

Cozy, romantic, comfortable setting on India Street just a block off Main Street. Varied menu that is friendly for vegetarians as well as fish and meat eaters. Great bar and friendly staff!

Amazing! It’s been 3 years since we’ve been to the Proprietors table and it’s better than last time!!! We had the beet & feta salad; Rick shrimp; crispy broccoli w red curry sauce; port umm; the bavette stake and the chocolate ganache cake with cherry & almond ice cream. They were all amazing!!! Great service too. When I compare it to the Boarding House where we were last night — there’s no comparison. Highly highly recommend the Proprietors. PS — great Gin menu!

Fantastic menu — for both cocktails and shared plates. The main reason for a 3 star review is due to the very small portion sizes for shared plates, including the larger sized shared plates. The price for the plates is slightly misleading — ex. the halloumi cheese plate is around $ 15 yet difficult to share with even 4 people due to small portions. I’m normally a fairly lite eater, yet left very hungry after sharing approximately 7 plates with 4 people(including the larger shared plates on menu too). As mentioned in a few other reviews, we treated this as an appetizer and delicious cocktail restaurant, and enjoyed an affordable and filling meal elsewhere afterwards. You will enjoy the food as it is very tasty, but be prepared to eat appetizers before coming or order a lot/spend a lot to fill up!

The food is ok, not outstanding. It certainly didn’t live up to the menu. I also think the reviewer who wrote something to the effect of «go here for a snack, then have an actual meal elsewhere» has a valid point.

Delicious tastes. Nice drinks. Go as if having small plates and appetizers, and a drink. THEN go eat more somewhere else. I am a small eater. Even I was hungry – and normally an app is good for me. I wanted to go here and loved it. But we were a party of 4, and after a big day of biking, hiking, swimming, 4 half shares here plus one big share here were wonderful treats, but did not make a dent in appetites. So we enjoyed, treated as first course, and had second course elsewhere. Pork short ribs, tuna, cheese, Korean salad were very good. All light. Tasty.

Recommended to us by locals, we came along. There is plenty of fine dining to be had in Nantucket, but this was my favourite. Two of us tried five share plates and were in heaven! You can do no wrong! Everything so great! We will be back!

Based on Unilocal reviews, we made reservations on a Wednesday night to celebrate my husband’s birthday. There were six of us, which proved to be the perfect number of people to split a ton of small plates with. I’ll rate each dish individually for ease of reference, but just the overall experience: ambiance, service, flavors, price — that’s a five. Easily. Hummus — 4 stars: very tasty, but wished for more stuff to schmear it on. Shaved Pork-Umms — 3 stars: it was good, but it’s a legit slider. Hard to share with everyone. Crispy Rock Shrimp«Sisig» — 5 stars: every bit of this dish was legit. Onion fingers? Loved it. Tater Cubes — 5x infinity stars: it served like a pyramid of tater goodness. Fit for a Pharoah, for sure. Perfect, crispy outside with an amazing sauce that kind of looked /tasted like chipolte-ish stuff. Grass Fed Bavette Steak — 5 stars: My god. This was cooked to absolute perfection. A glorious warm, pink medium-rare over a luscious bed of potato purée that I literally just wanted to swim in. Licked. The plate. Clean. A salad… that I can’t remember — 3 stars: I remember that the salad was good, but the cheese atop the salad made it hard to easily share. It was stringy, but soft and we had a tough time cutting it up and dishing out the salad. Still yummy though. I left full, which with small plates, you sometimes worry about… nothing to worry about here, we ordered more than enough, even sharing… and had a great overall experience.

I have been to Proprietors a number of times for different occasions. Like most restaurants in the busy season on the island always make a reservation. Last summer I came with a party of 12 adults. We ordered no less than 40 small plates of food, 5 entrées, and almost every drink on the cocktail menu. I can comfortably say that even this year compared to last year, the quality is extremely high, flavor is heavily considered in each dish, and the cocktail menu is innovative and unexpectedly fun sophisticated approach. I have a hard time deciding which item to order off the menu. The service is consistently great and fills my water endlessly. The lighting is on the darker side, the space would benefit from a lighting designer and more art work. Quite a few people eat at the bar as well here. I love the bartenders at this restaurant— very knowledgable and fun! I’m a fan for life.

I’ve been to Proprietors about six times since it opened, and every time it is delicious. I’ve sat in the front room, as well as the back, and every detail is very well done and attended to; from the mismatched plates to the typewriter-menu. It’s very hard to say what’s my favorite dish, it’s tied somewhere between the tater cubes and the shaved pork-umms. The tater cubes are delicious with the gouda; it is such a great addition to the perfect crispy edges. The kimchee biscuit that acts as the two bites of heaven around the delicious pork are the best. But, I can’t have either of those dishes without having the seared broccoli, or the bavette steak. I’ve used the curry sauce as the base of the broccoli was perfect paired with the leftover bites of the kimchee biscuit.(Also individually picked out the peanuts to enjoy each bite.) But, if we’re being honest, last time I was there, my table ordered two plates of the halloumi cheese. It’s all so good, and I’ve never had even an «average» meal there. In or out of season, I’ve loved every experience there. The cocktail selection is really interesting, and while it isn’t personally my cup of tea(read: vodka), other guests I’ve been with love the crafted cocktails. The beer list is also well rounded, and they’re happy to suggest a pairing with the dishes. Can’t wait to go back!

Trust me when I tell you the food here is really freaking amazing. End of review! Except I need to say that they have this way of blending ingredients together that shouldn’t mix. Then you take a big bite and you’re like, «this combo, all the time, for the rest of my life». Average portions at an expensive price, but you’re blown away that it tastes so good. A beer mixed with house Bloody Mary mix, lime, and chile? Ew? Except, I really need two more because amazing. Scallop scramble with chorizo and potatoes? I’ll take another to go, thanks. I need everyday to be brunch. Wait… No, I’d be poor if I ate here everyday, but I’d be a happy poor person! I’ll pick up overtime to get my good food fix I suppose. Make it a once a month thing if you’re on a budget. You can splurge for food so good, my friend. You’re welcome

The best tots. Strange title, but seriously the best tots I’ve ever had. They are little square pieces of deliciousness — each side individually fried to perfection. Those and the drinks merit a trip to this pace alone. The rest of the food and service was great as well(how else would they get a 5 star), but seriously — go get some tots.

The highlight out of a week of highlights dining on Nantucket. Every dish was better than the previous — and the first one was already delicious. The waitstaff was friendly, accommodating, and well versed on the food itself and the wine menu. Definitely order the summer corn soup.

10 signature drinks. I tried the 10 and 7, both Delish but go with the 7. This place was very fun, definitely fits Nantucket. The drinks are a little pricier, but they are very well made. A few coworkers had beer, and while the tap selection was small, it was well rounded. Had a somewhat speakeasy feel to it. We did not eat, only imbibed, and we did so very well. Would definitely return if on the island again.

Three strikes and we were out of there! Last night was our third time going. We’ve never had very good service there, but last night was the worst. We were seated and the waitress took our drink order; then we sat and waited for over half an hour. Nothing. So, we got up and left. As we left, the two hosts stopped us and asked what the problem was. We explained, and they promised to call today to make it better. It’s now 7:00pm, and we haven’t heard from them. I will not be going back.
