We stayed at the Manor House 2 weekends ago and didn’t have a particularly great experience. I’ll break it into standard good and bad points: The Good: — Great location, definitely at the heart of the city but not on an overly crowded street — Beautiful buildings(as all are in Nantucket) — A nice, outdoor space to sit. Unfortunately they cover all the chairs come night-fall which were the times we wanted to use it — Very friendly front-desk staff — They did have a small fridge in-room The Not So Good: What follows is a series of small concessions that could be taken in stride. However, for over $ 550 per night, these things that just leave use saying, «Meh» about staying at this inn again. — The room was a nice size, however, the bed was shoved all the way against the one window so that the controls for the blinds were terribly hard to access without crawling across the wide bed, all the way up by the headboard. It felt like nobody really cared about creating a well laid out bedroom — Very thin walls. Not only could we hear neighbors, but about 30% of their words(not just muffled noises) were coming through. It seemed the windows provided more insulation to noise pollution than that. — The bathroom floor felt like it was lubricated with petroleum jelly. It was filmy and gross to walk barefoot on. Seemed like it was wiped in haste and left with a film. — The advertised breakfast was a sad experience. It was served in a dungeon of a basement. Perhaps that’s harsh, but while the pastries and cereal were standard fare, the tables were mere feet from a 50″ screen TV showing news programming and trumping any conversation you might try to have. Needless to say, it felt like business trip rather than a vacation. — Bathroom light fixture was broken and hanging loosely above the sink. — The bathroom was small, but there was a huge vanity stuffed inside. Consequently, at 5’10 and 6’2, my wife and I couldn’t stand in front of it without ducking our head under the sloping ceiling. It was a pleasant bathroom, but it was clear that very little effort was put into shaping the furniture to fit this particular room. Perhaps this vanity worked in other rooms, but not this one. — At another inn we were offered free use of beach towels, outdoor areas to wash sand off, cookies, crackers, or other food out all day, and even free wine. None of that here. As you surmise from the writeup, the experience felt stale. It felt like a formula; offer a nice enough set-up to try and get a nice-enough amount of money from its guest. Unfortunately that is my most poignant gripe with the Manor House(and this comes from a New York City inhabitant) — there is no economy where the price of that room is justified for what you get.

LOVED this little gem. EXACTLY what you need for a perfect night in Nantucket. Lush gardens, beautifully renovated rooms with plush décor and fresh new amenities. Super friendly and CLEAN.

I really enjoyed my stay here. From the initial booking to check out, everyone was wonderful and accommodating. We stayed in room 7, which was beautiful. We were able to store our bags in the main house until check-in, so that allowed us to lighten our load while we explored the area surrounding the hotel. The hotel’s location is absolutely perfect. It is within walking distance to the ferries, as well as the center of town and a couple of beaches. This location is absolutely ideal. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and the patio area is amazing to hang out on at night. My husband and I loved it here. Very kid friendly as well, as we brought our one year old daughter.

quite reasonably priced for such an ideal location, we stayed here after getting reviews from several online sites. the off-season rates were better than some of the other locations on the island and with good reviews across the net, we reserved manor house for our stay. the service was friendly and unobtrusive and the room was classically decorated and cozy. the woman at the front desk cheerfully gave us suggestions on things we must see, even during frigid weather. she was right on the money and we very much value her recommendations. this inn could be ideal for either a couple, or possibly even for a business traveler. no frills but spotlessly clean and inviting. just what we were looking for.

Good value for an in-town location, especially off-season. The Manor House Inn(or it’s sister property next door, the Roberts House Inn is perfect if you’re visiting Nantucket for a short stay, don’t want to pay more than $ 300 per night and don’t intend on renting or bringing a car(most visitors who don’t own vacation homes don’t bring/rent cars). Walk from the ferries or take a short cab ride from the airport. Rooms include a continental breakfast served next door at the Roberts House. The Manor House is a quiet, charming, victorian-style inn. Many rooms have fireplaces and the bathrooms are large and comfortable(unlike some Nantucket inns that provide shower stalls only or shared baths). There is little to no hustle and bustle here and the Manor House features several cozy indoor and outdoor locations to sit and relax — the adirondack chairs in the garden, the sun room off to the left of the entrance, the sitting room in the Roberts House, and the breakfast room in the basement of the Roberts House. For the discriminating traveler who doesn’t want to spend a fortune on a Nantucket vacation — you won’t be disappointed by the Roberts House or Manor House Inns.
