Gave Nix’s another shot after reopening. Food is very good and I was impressed with the daily specials they were offering. Beer selection was different than I remember and pretty reflective of New England. Service was god for such a busy night. Can’t wait to check it out in June!!!

Came in to meet friends, sat down and ordered a beer. 15 minutes later, still didn’t have my beer. Finally the waitress came back to tell me they didn’t have the beer I ordered, and I had to wait for another one. Not impressive service.

Highly unusual service… My friend went to go look at the other side of the bar at the whiskey that was available. He was no where near the entrance of the bar, but from across the bar, the bar tender started screaming at him don’t go behind the bar. Okay, I understand that we don’t want anyone to lose their job or get in trouble, so I wrote it off as the bar tender being cautious. The bar tender then for the rest of the night chewed out my friend for going behind the bar. And again, I wrote it off as, I wouldn’t want to lose my job either do I assume she was being overly cautious. After several hours of top forty pop music blaring from the bar tender’s phone, the patrons began to ask questions why her text message alert kept going off over the PA and if she could put on the game. She ignored their request to turn down the music and put on the game until about thirty minutes before close. The bar tender then came by and grabbed my food while I was eating. She asked if I was done with my food. I said no I’m still eating about for times until she dropped the plate. Then she proceeded to take away my fork and napkins. After I won back my food, she took the hot sauce and whispered, the cap must be kept on at all times. Whatever the fuck that means… After that, the bar tender screams the bar is closing at ten! She then proceeds to close everyone out. She hands me someone else’s credit card and I say this card isn’t mine. She takes the credit card, literally walks ten steps the other direction, turns around and hands me the exact same card again. I pick up the card and grab the other bar tenders attention asking him which customer’s card this is because obviously she can’t figure it out. The other bar tender is offended and takes the card away. I pay my tab and don’t tip. I don’t think I have ever not at least gave ten percent on a tab, but tonight was the first night that I left nothing in a long time. The two bar tenders notice and proceed to cuss me out under their breath. I ask if there is a problem and if I need to leave. The two bar tenders say no problem but obviously give me the death stare. Anyways… I don’t know what the fuck was going on this night. Wouldn’t be surprised if one of the bar tenders was high on heroin. All I know is I’m checking my bank statement in the morning and never returning here again.

«Not the spot» was what I was told by a local when I told him I went there on a Friday night. Though there was mediocre live music, there were more people in the Jack Wills next door, and I’m pretty sure it was closed. The place was relatively dead. The beer was the same as it is everywhere, but it was $ 8 for drafts. I live in Boston and I think that is pretty pricy. It was clear that this place is a haunt for middle aged islanders who drink more than most. They got rowdy while everyone else kept it pretty calm. Many people were uncomfortable. One old drunk guy took his shoes off and danced and walked around. That’s gross. You really should not be allowed to take your shoes off. Nobody made him out his shoes back on. We left.

Escaped the rain at Nix’s before heading back to the cruise ship, lured in by a promise of the Best Lobster Roll Around. We were promptly greeted and seated. My girlfriend received her iced tea immediately. My Cisco Indie Pale Ale, an IPA(and a really good one from Nantucket-based Cisco at that… love my Centennial hops), arrived 10 minutes later when our waiter made it back to the table. We ordered the Lobster BLT(daily special) with polenta fries, and the fish and chips with truffle tots. Great choices in both cases. The BLT was really good. Bacon and lobster should be the new chocolate and peanut butter. Sourdough bread, romaine, thick bacon, and big chunks of lobster. If the tomatoes had been patted down, it would have been less runny. The fish portions were large, with the breading crispy and seasoned(Tabasco?) just right. Couldn’t find the waiter, so snagged some malt vinegar from the bar. Perfect. The truffled tater tots(hey, give me your tots!) were awesome, and the polenta fries perfectly cooked. Both were topped with grated Parmesan… nice touch! A little pricey($ 28 for the Lobste

Deco très très sympa, pour les sportifs en herbe une multitude d’écrans de TV pour né rien louper du foot, BB ou basket. Bref, ambiance nickel et très copieux dans l’assiette. A l’américaine quoi !! Nous avons passé un bon moment.
