Any time I’m on the island, I love to stop in at 3 Bartlett Farm. First and foremost: for the vodka, which I was able to find in a few bars in Manhattan while I lived there, but has otherwise eluded me. Next: for the beer; most notably the Sankaty Light and Whales Tale Ale. Finally: for the fun! Everyone is super-friendly and every time I stop in I meet new and exciting people with whom I inevitably wind up spending the rest of the day. This weekend’s Life is Good Festival calls to mind the time I met Life is Good Founder, Bert Jacobs at Triple Eight Distillery/Cisco Brewery a couple years back. We shot the shit and took some shots together and when it was time for us to head back into town he asked if he and his friend could hitch a ride. Sure. Why not? BEST. DECISION. EVER. The remainder of the day involved: 1) Spraying people with super-soakers and screaming«Life Is Good» at them 2) A spur-of-the-moment bocce tournament at Child’s Beach w/cash prizes 3) An extreme amount of ridiculousness Even if your day doesn’t reach epic proportions, you’ll still enjoy the gardens and the drinks and the games and the good prices for what it is, where it is.
