I heard this place was good but I was still blown away at how good the experience was. First, the wine list is more like a wine almanac. Really… it’s so thick and heavy it can give you arthritis. We knew what we wanted to order(Muga from Spain) so I went straight to it and was delightfully surprised to see that yes, they actually had 3 vintages of it. If you’re not sure what wine to order, you’re better off asking their sommelier or you can spend half an hour just going over the wine list. Now the food… not only did everything taste fantastic, we loved how frivolous and playful the presentations were. We started with the Grilled Octopus and Korean Spicy Pig Tails. Both excellent but the Octopus is NOTTOBEMISSED! Our main courses were the Lamb Saddle and the Dry-Aged Duck. Both FANTASTIC! Portions are not overly large so you’re not too full but also not left hungry. For dessert, we went with the Churros con chocolate. A little different from what we’re used to because the churros are made from pound cake. Wonderful to dip into the warm chocolate. We can’t wait to come back and share this place with family and friends!

I thought I had reviewed this place a few months ago… They are SO wonderful, trendy, upscale, hip(do we still say that?)… We went mainly for happy hour on locals night. We had burger with Foie Gras(can you say YUM!?!), burratta and other tasty treats. I recommended this location(with confidence) to our executives for a business dinner a few weeks later and they loved it too. The prices are a bit higher but for the quality, ambiance, service, etc. I feel it is well worth it. The servers are very knowledgable, attentive and I will be going back once I’ve tried a few more locations. We have also made this our Ladies Night favorite hotspot for our friends. I can say yes, I am a fan.

Came here after a wine tour we took with some friends. They had been before, we had not. A little unassuming, which I like. Came in, seated right away, great little entry(fireplace). Love the décor, the mix of concrete, wine, wood, all of it. We did the tasting menu, and ohhh boy, they had a soft boiled egg, one of the best things I have ever eaten before., ever… took my breath away in the first bite(To blathe? Did I say true love? No he didn’t, yes he did, shut up you witch, I’;m not a witch, I’m ya wife, and I’m not even sure I’m that anymoreeeee). The rest of the dinner was pretty damn good, I would highly recommend this place, get your butt up and out, go here immediately, and give them your hard earned and well deserved money. Go.

Went here on a Thursday night and it wasn’t very busy. Now I know why. Pretty much all the dishes left my head scratching. They certainly sound super-sophisticated with all the«eclectic”/exotic ingredients but they don’t actually come together to make a delicious bite. It’s almost like they must sit around trying to dream up these overly complex plates just for the sake of them sounding cool on the menu. The portions are also purposely small but, since the depth of flavor is so lacking, there’s an excellent chance you’ll leave hungry and much, much poorer, given their prices. Even the main wrapped-steak-thingy dish was overly cooked and used a very cheap cut of meat. The value is just lacking. At the end of the day, I’ll gladly pay if the food is great but this place left a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. I’d absolutely avoid, given the culinary company you’re in.

I had a delicious meal at 1313 on a rainy Napa night. The wait staff were extremely polite and nice! For special occasions, they even customize menus(special message at the top), givey you complimentary elderflower lemonade, and a handwritten card signed by everyone on the staff. How amazing is that! What a unique experience. The food was also yummy — I had the scallops with forbidden rice(black rice) and a kale salad. Natural and wholesome ingredients that make for a great meal.

After ordering wine flights from different bars and restaurants at my stay in Napa i finally found some i love. I gear towards the sweet wine and so i enjoyed the Sweeter by the minute which had the Riesling, Moscato & Brachetto and Chenin Blanc. The restaurant bar had a wall of wines displayed which i found very cool of a décor.

I loved dining at 1313 Main. After looking through a couple of restaurants in Downtown Napa and pictures online, we decided to make reservations. I have to admit, I was definitely judging the book by its cover and using the photos on Unilocal to figure out where we should go. Anyhow, I’m glad I did that because the food lived up to its photos. We opted for the a la carte menu instead of the $ 260 Winter in Wine Country menu. Apparently with the Winter menu you get taken to a festive room with christmas trees and 20 lbs of snow. Out of everything we ordered, my favorite was the truffled egg and the prime bavette steak. The truffled egg had black truffle shavings on top and whipped potatoes surrounding it. We mixed the egg into the whipped potatoes and ate it with the brioche! It reminded me of clam chowder but WAY better. I added a seared foie gras on top of my steak. It was perfect. The foie gras wasn’t huge though so if you really want to indulge yourself, get the foie gras appetizer. For dessert we got the pound cake churro! It’s as good as it sounds. There was chocolate on the side which was just the right bitterness and sweetness for both dipping and sipping. I was stuffed by the end of the meal but it was a happy moment. I would definitely come back the next time I’m in the area!

Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night. We had reservations but it probably wasn’t needed since there were plenty of tables available. The service was great and the food was excellent. The restaurant itself has a great ambiance — great for a date night. My boyfriend ordered the prime bavette steak — medium rare. Although it was a tiny portion, it was cooked to perfection! Every bite was divine. I ordered the fennel encrusted king salmon which was equally amazing. I also loved the presentation of each dish — very beautiful and carefully plated. Oh! Don’t forget the wine! The price for a glass of wine can be a bit expensive but they have an extensive list to choose from. I would recommend trying a wine flight if you are unsure what to order. I opted for the«Sweeter by the Minute» wine flight and was not disappointed.

Nice place that takes pride in personal touches to highten your experience. Service was great, food was very good as well. Highlights — Truffled Egg — I loved this dish. Soft poached egg sitting in a lightly truffled velvet cream. Potato Gravel and Brioche. Very creamy with crunch notes from the bread and potato. Nicely done. Lamb Saddle — I honestly liked the lamb bacon most of all. The dish in general was very good and nicely executed. Good flavors and textures. Gnocchi — Very nicely done. Soft, creamy texture with good earthy, brown butter notes. Really good dish. Other good dishes — Hamachi Crudo — was nice. Good flavors and textures throughout. Foie Gras — was very good. The tart bottom was a bit tough to get through. Again, good flavors throughout. Other — Crispy Chicken Skin salad — I was really looking forward to this dish, but it was a bit of a letdown. It just tasted like an average spring roll. Was hoping for piping hot crisped skin, but got cold, lackluster skin. It was still fairly crispy, but would have been much better room temp or warm. The dish really needed a punch, something to kick it to another level.

After seeing some amazing food porn of dishes coming out of 1313 I just had to check it out for myself. THEFOOD is 5 star. Really is presented extremely well. It is darn right pretty and almost hard to touch as you just want to admire it. The taste is there. Fresh ingredients. Inventive and well seasoned. The portion sizes need to be adjusted just slightly but other than that everyone in our group raved about their plates. The wine list is also 5 star worthy. One might argue that it loses a star as the mark up for corkage is high and promoting local labels by offering a comp’d corkage for a local bottle you buy the day your tasting in the area is pretty common. The service is what tanks the score, it needs some attention. After checking in at 630pm with our party of 4 we told them we had tickets to see a show that started at 8 and needed to be done by 745pm. We were seated about 5 minutes later as there seemed to be only one person out of the 3 standing behind the counter that did that function. After we were seated, we met the 2 person behind the counter, the Somme. who offered us help with our wine choice. After we ordered a bottle he returned shortly afterwards to open it with us and to pour. The Chef comes out shortly after that and presented an amuse bouche to us… we are now nearing 7 and still no one has come for our order… we ask as the amuse is cleared if we can talk to the waitress and are surprised it is the girl who seated us who we told we needed to stay on a tight timeline. She took our order, 4 starters — 2 salads and 2 apps, and 4 entrées. 2 pastas and 2 meats. @ 720pm 1 starter comes out… and no other. There is no one on the floor to inquire. A few more minutes pass and then the waitress asks to clear the plate and when we begin to ask her about the other plates as the Chef brings our the other 3 starters… Dinner comes out at 752pm. We miss the beginning of the show. I’m not quite sure why there was a delay in the starters and why the waitress did not communicate to her kitchen. She came off young full of confidence but unaware of how to time a service. Perhaps not trained to deal with dinner service send more of a bar back? The Chef seemed pretty happy go lucky type and I felt that had they known they would not have paced our plates so slowly and brought them faster. We didn’t order anything too complicated giving the timing. Again the food was quite good… I would keep that in mind should I want to return. If you were sitting just enjoying a bottle of wine with someone you haven’t seen in a long time and wanted to be left alone after you order a few appetizers, then maybe this is your place. However here’s the catch., with so many other places to try and return to in the Napa area it may be awhile before we return. For some small places… that could not bode so well.

The first impression that you get here is that it’s more of a wine bar then a resturant, with the many bottles on wine on the right as you walk into the place. It’s a bit out of the way on Main Street of the main drag, but it’s not a terrible location overall. Once they seat you down and you start ordering though, the service was excellent and attentive. The food came out at the right times, with it not being too slow or it seemed too rush(1.5 hours to 2 hours for dinner sounds about right). The portions do sway towards the small side, but for me(I’m not the biggest person on the planet) it was good enough. The food is delicious and presented with elegance and grace. The server notes what is being served as the plate is being put on the table. Everything was done with very exquisite detail. I ordered the beef tartare, the crudo, Rabbit and the Freddo for dessert. I would definitely come back here again for a nice meal. For $ 70 or $ 105 with wine pairing, the tasting menu is probably the best value there is if you aren’t turn away from tomato heirloom salad.

Great selection of wine flights(which are one of my favorite past times). My husband and I came here last year on our honeymoon and this year during our anniversary trip. The staff is professional and the food is pure gourmet. I heard their Bloody Mary bar is on point. The décor is modern, with a local Napa twist(petrified wood). One thing we thought was weird: we ordered an after dinner snack and the manager told us happy anniversary. After that another man in a suit asked if we had any food allergies. One would assume they had a celebratory dish? Nothing came out… other than the after dinner snack we ordered. Kinda disappointing. If you’re looking for a good gourmet dinner in Napa, 1313 will fill that void.

The lobster Benedict is one of the best brunch dishes I’ve ever put in my mouth. Wonderfully poached eggs, avocado and lobster blend with the hollandaise sauce for perfection in every bite. A must try. Also tried the baked egg and chorizo which is more like baked egg and hearty tomato sauce with ground chorizo. It was good, but combined with the mimosa was tomato overload. So only get one or the other. …in which case spring for the mimosa cart! They prepare your cocktail while explaining how they picked the tomatoes from the garden and let you choose from a variety of add-ins including sea salts, blue cheese stuffed olives, etc. Lots of fun choices! Want to give this place 5 stars so much because the food deserves it. Only docking one for extremely slow service. By slow I’m talking the slowest food service in history. Carve out the time in your Sunday morning before coming here. Nonetheless a stellar brunch.

Went to Napa on a spur-of-the-moment road trip with the family on 4th of July weekend. Our friends offered to take care of the kids for a few hours while we had dinner. Score! We called around and most places were already booked due to the long holiday weekend. Luckily, 1313 Main had a spot open for us to come down right away. So, we hopped in the car and drove like it was Mario Kart 64(sans turtle shells). There was parking on the street, so thankfully that wasn’t an issue. We walked in and the friendly hostess seated us. Tables are kind of close together, so even if you’re a semi-loud talker, your neighbors will hear you. Our waiter(I think his name was Connor) was friendly and happily explained the menu to us. The dishes are made to be served with other people. Kind of like tapas-style. But not exactly. For instance, we ordered a pork belly dish, but it was basically one whole piece. Even though we had a knife, it was still hard to evenly cut between the 2 of us(we had a friend come with us, too, but she doesn’t eat pork, so more for us!). As for the rest of the food, we also ordered the Herbed Gnocchi, Seared Scallops, Prime Bavette Steak, and Fresh Burrata. Everything tasted pretty damn good and was presented beautifully. The one thing that prevented that 5th star was the portion size. It was incredibly small for all dishes. While the prices weren’t astronomical, they were high considering what you actually got. For the pork belly, it was pretty much 1 piece that when cut up, was about 4 bites, the gnocchi was gone after a few pieces between the 3 of us, the scallops were 3 a piece, but that’s because I didn’t eat any. Again, the food was great, but the value wasn’t there. We didn’t have any wine, so I can’t really comment on that. I know, sorry. What kind of person goes to Napa and doesn’t drink wine?!?

1313 really understands that hundreds of small components contribute to the whole dining experience. The food was beautiful as well as tasty, the menu was imaginative, and the service was top notch. They have a very large wine selection(this is Napa after all) and they offer wine flights based on region/varietal/or the som’s favorites. Its a fun idea for locals who probably weren’t wine tasting the entire day… more power to you if you were though. I started with the truffled egg. It was good and very attractively plated, but the best part was the brioche. The egg was alright, but there was so much potato which really didn’t have to much flavor — so this dish was a bit of a dud for me. I had a bit of the hamachi crudo and that was delicious — so flavorful. That one bite satisfied me more than the entire truffle egg. My main dish was the prime bavette steak. I had never had this cut before, so it was fun and interesting to try something new. The meat was flavorful and tender, meaning they really know how to cook it as this cut tends to be more chewy and cheap. I wasn’t jealous of anyone else’s plate for this course! The bone marrow croquette was quite good, but you need to eat it all in one bite or risk dripping bone marrow juice all over yourself. I ended with the semifreddo — because clearly that wasn’t enough food for me… just kidding I was stuffed, but I powered through! The semifreddo is why I’m giving them a 5 rather than a 4. It was that good. And beautifully plated. Overall a good experience.

This was an excellent little spot to have Sunday Brunch. The décor in the restaurant was beautiful and the service couldn’t have been better. We sat outside as it was a bright and sunny day. We ordered orange and pomegranate mimosas. Both mimosas were pretty strong in the alcohol department. We tried the Latke with eggs, capers and salmon(on the side). The latke was delicious and humongous! We ordered it as an appetizer but found that it filled us up quite a bit before the entrees. I had the Fried Chicken and Waffles with the chili maple syrup(one of their specials). The staff were all pretty excited about it. I can tell they don’t serve this dish much in NorCal, but here in SoCal it is quite common. They did a great job. We also had the Duck Confit Hash. I’m not a huge fan of duck but the presentation was nice and it was tasty. Overall, good experience. I would recommend checking it out if you’re in the area.

FOOD: 5 SERVICE: 5 AMBIANCE: 5 VALUE: 5 I was a little hesitant when I read a recent review by a group of Unilocalers who stopped by after a day of wine tasting. However, let me assure you what they said were completely misleading; I think they were loud and obnoxious after a day of too much drinking. We made our reservation on OpenTable and we were promptly greeted and seated on our arrival. Our waiter handed us the menu right away and brought us our water to quench our thirst after a long drive. Our waiter explained the menu and left us to our pre-Yelp, i.e. taking pictures of the inside and the menu. We decided on 3 courses with a wine flight each. Here’s my dinner: 1. Truffled Egg: truffle poached eggs, served with potato mousse line, potato gravel, pickled onion, toasted brioche and a generous slice of black truffle. A wonderful mixture of taste with a perfectly textured egg, topped off with that slice of real truffle that just explodes with flavor in your mouth. 2. Braised Pork Belly: served on green apple sauce with a side of wild radish and celery salad with a sprinkle of vinaigrette dressing. The pork belly was just perfectly crispy on the outside with tender juicy meat and just the right amount of rich pork fat. The side salad set off from the meatiness of the pork leaving your taste buds perfectly balanced for the next course. 3. Prime Bavette Steak: a tender juicy filet served with bone marrow croquette, sautéed baby carrots, young leeks and Chantrelle mushrooms, and three dollop of whipped Yukon Gold potatoes. A steak that’s done right can never be wrong. The veggies were crisp and tasty. The whipped potatoes were as good as I’ve had anywhere. I must compliment the executive chef, Adam Ross, on his selection of meat and vegetables, it shows his great care in selecting the freshest local ingredients, his imaginative pairing of not just tastes but different textures. Keep it up, you are ranked up there with some of the famous chefs we’ve dined with! Excellent food and service in the heart of downtown Napa, what a joy of a find!

VERYEXPENSIVE — You can’t go by the prices on the menu — more like small plates for a lot of money. I came here with a big party of people — there was some confusion on getting all 9 of us in there but it worked out. The service was excellent — Shawn or Sean took care of us and others helped him. I thought the food was very good. What I didn’t know was they have it set up like you are supposed to buy 3 courses. When I looked at the menu online and saw prices in the mid $ 20s to low $ 30s for entrees I thought that’s about right for our group. ***BUT*** they want you to buy that $ 28.00 steak and the $ 14 salad and the $ 12 tartar — smaller portions make a whole meal but then you have to look at the price and say WTF — it’s $ 54.00/person just for food. Completely different. My cousin brought in a Parador Cellars Red Wine Reserva(from Napa) soooooooo Delicious and perfectly made one of my Favorite producers. They also don’t have a ‘normal’ full service bar — there are no manhattans or martini’s. They have a liquor service of special liquors that they serve tableside. It’s expensive and kind of odd. This is the kind of service you find in a big restaurant or hotel, not in a 30 seat place off the main drag imo. And like another reviewer said — seems like they’re catering to tourists here — the place was not full on a Saturday night. And you have to put down a credit card to reserve a big table.

I dined at 1313 for my friend’s birthday dinner. I was utterly disappointed. Not only did I not get the Foie gras I was hoping for but the over priced food, all the stupid restaurant policies and worst of all no surprise birthday cake really rubbed me the wrong way. The only thing that saved this restaurant from being a completely terrible experience was the amazing customer service. The food was not bad, it’s just the quality and taste that did not warrant the value. Most dishes were too salty. The chef spent too much time on creativity and presentation and not enough time on taste, texture, and quality. WHATWEORDERED: Fresh oysters — good. Served with 3 dipping sauces. Really can’t screw this up. Seared Foie gras — I hated it and this is one of my most loved dish. We had our eye on the foie gras in the Unilocal pictures. When it arrived it was something completely different. It was more of a foie gras mousse covered it this tangy red jelly which was awful. It over powered the natural decadent taste of the foie gras. You wouldn’t know it was a foie gras dish unless someone told you. Worst of all it was paired with the disgusting soft multigrain cracker. Nothing worked well together. It was a total fail. I hated the crackers so much that we ordered toasted bread which arrived semi burnt. SMH. Truffled egg — good! It was rich, creamy and paired well with the toasted brioche which I smothered in egg. Beef tartare — good! Teeny portions but very fresh bite sized tartare with a good amount of crunch. Oxtail ravioli — flavors on point, moist oxtail filling but under cooked noodle. The skin of the ravioli was tough and the edges were hard and chewy. We ordered a few of these and the complaint was consistent. Burger, add Foie gras — ordered medium rare top with foie gras I can taste. Good! One of the better dishes paired with salty skinny fries. Seared scallops — the 4 smallest scallops I’ve ever laid eyes on for a dish valued at $ 28. It was also overly salty from the soy sauce reduction paired with under cooked forbidden black rice. Chocolate churro dessert — the only chocolate dessert the chocolate obsessed birthday girl could order. The churro was not crunchy and the chocolate dip was diluted. My number one pet peeve! Call me the birthday queen but you get what you want on your birthday and you will make exceptions to make someone’s special day extra special. The only real chocolate dessert was on the prix fixed menu and I asked if my friend could have that and they said it was restricted for the prix fixed menu. I asked if an exception could be made for her birthday and they politely declined. Strike 1! Strike 2 was when I discoved another friend brought a whole birthday cake as a surprise and it was not allowed to be eaten in the restaurant. The least you can do is let the birthday girl have her cake if she can’t have the only chocolate dessert she wanted on the menu. I can only imagine how many other outside birthday cakes have been turned away for occasions like this. Unacceptable. The only thing that saved the night was the friendly, knowledgeable staff. They knew we were disgruntled about the cake, foie gras, and the sold out pork belly and still kept their poise. Our glasses were filled throughout the course of dinner and at the close of dinner the staff arrived with surprise champagne and a handwritten card from the staff. I will not be returning.

The only reason I’m not giving 1313 Main TWOSTARS is the food, with that being said, service leaves much to be desired. We came here with a large party after a day in wine country and one of our friends wanted to check with our waiter if it was ok she opened a bottle of sparkling water she had in her purse, the waiter immediately reacted and told her, «it’s illegal» which left us all perplexed and scratching our heads. He then quickly shuffled away saying he needed to check with management. When he came back he said that it was ok but he needed to charge us $ 5. Uhh, sparkling water costs $ 5 on the menu, so what you’re saying is that not only is it now no longer«illegal» but you want us to pay a service charge that equates to the full price on your menu? No thanks. I will have to say many of the dishes we shared were enjoyable and presented well. The standouts for me were: the Seared Foie Gras, Truffled Egg, Australian Lamb Chop, Oxtail Ravioli, and the Strawberry & White Chocolate Semifreddo dessert. When the bill came, someone noticed the included gratuity looked abnormally high, as in approx. 35% of the total bill. After looking into it, our waiter very casually apologized and stated it was a «computer glitch» and nonchalantly walked away, which is my advice to you as well.
