The yummy, quick breakfast was served by a friendly, no-nonsense crew. While I usually switch hash browns to fruit at restaurants when my daughter isn’t there to mooch them, I tried the potato pancakes instead. The mini-venture was worth it! They are silver-dollar in size, crispy and nicely seasoned. I’ll be back.

Since I was born & raised in Napa we certainly had our bakeries in the past, but they are all gone now except for Butter Cream & there is a reason way they lasted for so long! This is a family owned since the 50’s, the ingredient & recipes are past on down to the next generation. When I moved to Las Vegas I looked for something that compares to Butter Cream but to no avail, & what a disappointment that was! I even wished the casinos would have a Butter Cream slot machine that would of pumped out those famous CUSTARDECLAIRS, Champagne Cake, Strawberries & Cream Cake, Maple Bars, etc, etc. What can I say– I was desperate for them:) Do your self a favor & indulge the Butter Cream Bakery experience you won’t be disappointed..

This is and has always been my favorite Bakery. I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl with my grandmother and I’m over 50 now. All of their donuts and pastries are always fresh and their Champaign Cake is an all time favorite of everyone’s. Their rolls are great too! They will also make speciality cakes for you too. I’ve had them make birthday cakes shaped like a Taco, Cheese Burger and Tea Pot for Mother’s Day. They turned out beautiful and looked so real besides tasting«wonderful»!!!

This is our second trip to Napa and our second visit to the Butter Cream Bakery. We had the buttermilk doughnut and the maple frosted. Amazing stuff. On our first trip a few years ago, we bought too much and ate it all. This time we only got one each but it was still great. There is a Starbucks down the street but you can skip it and get the coffee here, Peet’s coffee is served here, hot and fresh.

This place is simply the best diner around. If you like amazing donuts and great home cooked American style food, this is the place for you. I have come here 3 times and left with than no less than a dozen donuts(and I live alone). The donuts are just how they should taste being fluffy and tender. All the varieties are great but I love their chocolate raised and the apricot Danish are to drool over. I love this place and can’t get enough! Highly highly recommend!

Four stars for my husbands blueberry scone. He said that’s the best scone he has ever had. The rest were good — nothing over-the-top special. It’s cute inside and friendly. On the left side where the bakery it, remember to grab a number. A few of us were confused because we didn’t see it and the lady was calling the next number. Once the confusion was figured out, they were helpful and gave us their recommendations, which we took. If we are in the area, we may go back.

I love the old school feel to this place. I would recommend their champagne cake. Also, it’s very busy in the mornings because of their diner. I usually order their Bacon and Eggs. I enjoy sitting at the bar because you can see how they cook your food and also because you don’t have to wait as long to be seated at a table. Over all, they have reasonable prices and great portions.

This is an incredible place, always filled with locals and a few travelers. I have been going here for 40 years now. Hard to believe. But the food is still wonderful. Great for breakfast or lunch. And they have cakes for all occasions. Also lots of great pastries.

I love this place. It’s comfort food heaven. I really wish they were open later, because this would easily become my dinner spot. But then again, that may be a good thing for my waist line. Its always happy day at the office when I bring in these donuts. My favorite donut is always the glazed, and this place tops the list as one of my favorites. My boss has brought in some others, and they’re really pretty with its icing and sprinkles, and delicious too. The food is always good. The corned beef hash is the kind that you get in the can(not the homemade kind), which kinda sucks, but they get the good canned kind. I like the hash browns because its crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. And you can’t go wrong with the biscuits and gravy. It’s one of my favorites. I also love the glass windows so you can see everyone working in the bakery area. The line can get long, especially if you have a large group. But for two people, its easy to get a seat at the counter. Parking is easy with its lot and side streets. And you can’t miss this place with the pink and white stripes outside. Pro-tip I: Get here early. Pro-tip II: This isn’t the place to go if you’re on a diet.

This place is really nice vs it’s cost. It’s also really delicious they give you so much butter! I personally found it to be crowded, but that’s what happens when a quality place is popular. The lady working the counter was also so very nice!

Always interested in visiting the local bakeries to see their specialties and their goodies. Had to stop by here for their maple bars! They were out of the regular maple bars so I had to get the custard filled maple bar. At first I thought it would be too sweet but… it was amazing! Not overpowering with Sweetness which is a turn off but just enough to make you feel happy.

I was visiting with my fiancé when we were really craving some donuts one morning. So i went on here and started my search. I ran into this bakery and thought we should try it since a lot of people were raving about it. The bakery is amazing. Their maple bars and jelly donuts are delicious! The service was good and they helped me out as soon as they could. I’ve been here a couple of times and both times I have gone they we’re awesome. Very polite crew and I’d definitely go back when I’m in town. The pink building is not to be missed but the parking lot it kind of small. But overall, a really great place!

I refuse to give up on Buttercream, but there was a road block that was hit, and hopefully posting this will help others push for what they want instead of settling for what they are told by an inexperienced employee. I have grown up on the Champagne cake, its a birthday staple in our family, so its no wonder that I wanted it for my baby shower cake. Now, every year, my mom has gone in and ordered it ahead of time, with purple instead of pink as purple is my favorite color. This has never been an issue for many many years. Well, we went to order one for my baby shower. We asked about having a larger size, that wasnt a problem, cool, I was excited. Then we asked about making it purple instead of pink, and we hit a road block. The lady behind the counter was not accommodating at all. There was no way that it could be made a different color except pink. We tried bringing up the fact that they always did this when we ordered ahead of time(not to mention we were ordering a ½ sheet, so an expensive order, so you would think they would work with you), she still wouldnt budge. We turned to another lady, and she just shrugged and kept quiet. Needless to say, we left without placing our order and got a basic cake from another store. I understand that they were a little busy when we came in to place the cake order, but if the girl didnt know if something could be done, she should have asked someone who did. But it just seemed like taking the cake order was an inconvenience and she didnt want to bother with any special request, and I say this because its like she was extremely annoyed with us, throwing an attitude and everything. And guess what! For my birthday after this issue, my mom was able to place an order for a purple champagne cake, so I know for a fact this girl either didnt know, or didnt want to bother.

I went there to grab a quick bite after my hike. Got a grilled cheese sandwich and it was good. Also got the potato salad which felt to me like it was made in a batch of 500 pounds, … kinda not homemade. Server(didn’t catch her name), was very attentive & pleasant. My wife got a tuna fish sandwich with a bowl of chili. She said the tunafish was generic. The chili was homemade; it looks homemade, and it tastes homemade & she recommends the chili! No charge for cheddar cheese & onion topping. The restaurant was clean. Nice little diner it’s been in Napa for years, and affordable.

My wife and I decided to venture out to try a new breakfast spot this morning and decided on Butter Cream Bakery & Diner. This place was popping on a Saturday morning. The whole counter at the dinner was filled and there was a line to the door for the baked goods. The pastries looked delicious and those maple bars are on my list to try on my next visit. The waitress who helped us was very busy, but friendly and on top of the service. We enjoyed the retro décor and watching the cooks bust out the dishes. It kind of has a «Waffle House Vibe» to it. To me, the most important thing for a good breakfast spot is it has to have a good cup of coffee and it was excellent. I ordered the ½ order of biscuits and gravy, with 2 eggs over easy while my wife had the sausage & egg breakfast with scrambled eggs. I really enjoyed my selections, but felt that my wife’s eggs were a little bland and fell short. My over-easy eggs were spot on and I personally recommend these over the scrambled. The biscuits and gravy were the star of the show, which didn’t surprise me as it’s a bakery. You could tell these were freshly made biscuits and the gravy was thick and full of flavor. I loved the chunks of savory sausage in it. I’m looking forward to returning soon for some maple bars and assortment of donuts. Future updates to come!

Buttercream is a Napa staple for sweets. Very fresh quality cakes, pies, donuts & just about any treat you can think of. My favorites are cream horns and maple bars. They also have a coffee shop diner inside. Good down home breakfasts and the waitresses are super friendly. They are a little on the pricey side if you plan to go here weekly but I always find the food worth it. Lines can be long so expect to wait.

I have to say this bakery/restaurant has some strange rules. You cannot sit at a table for 4 if you are 2 even if there is no one waiting. They did make the accommodation after I pitched a fit. The last table in the place near the back is overwhelming with the smell of grease and bathroom backup. My husband loves this place for breakfast. I ordered toast. It was good. I took home a peach pie last time and it was awful. Hardly any peaches and a lot of filler. The cookies are good. Old fashioned place be selective on what you order. Service some attitudes but our server was ok.

First time coming here, went with some snaps natives and my coach. This place is definitely legit, pretty cool how they have a large bakery in there as well as a nice size café. SERVICE: The service was great, I can’t remember who we were dealing with but she was awesome. Came to the table often to check on our coffee, waters, etc. Very warming, and she always came the table with a smile! RESTAURANT: As mentioned earlier, I think it’s awesome how they have comforting bakery in there. Bagels, doughnuts, pies, all types of things. After your done eating or even before class or work you can stop here get some coffee and doughnuts; if you have time you can stop by the café and get some delicious breakfast. FOOD: When I ordered the chicken fried steak I was kind of hesitant because not all chicken friend steak will be good! Their was just perfect, the flour on it was cooked really well, and the gravy smothered the chicken fried steak so very deliciously. I don’t always order the chicken fried steak because always have high expectations on them, the Buttercups are definitely recommended. I recommend this Café/bakery to anyone who is new and looking for something delicious! Make sure to Leave a review and Unilocal it. Unilocal on Unilocalers!

This review is just for the bakery. Everything is fresh and made in house right on down to the icing. I love that it’s not overly sweet and made well. It’s even better when you can set a donut down on a paper towel and not have a drop of grease seep into it. They are light and fluffy! It’s always packed, just remember to take a number. They will get to you quickly.

My friend suggested this place since I was really hungry and also craving some donuts(what else is new). I’m really glad he did because I’m sure I’ll be coming back plenty of times and I definitely recommend this awesome place! I ordered a tuna salad, perfect portion and tasty. They make all the food right in front of you, you have the choice to sit either at the bar or the tables. Table seating closes a little earlier than the bar. I’m definitely coming earlier next time to order donuts because I think they may have more of a selection. They had lots of pastries, cakes, cupcakes, etc. Basically, it’s my heaven in here. I ended up deciding on a maple bar and it was delish! So yummy! As for the staff, everyone I encountered was very polite and kind. Seems like a great place to be and I’m so happy I tried this place out! :)
