My wife and I ate here on Saturday for breakfast. It was our first time here and I’m so sad that this was their last weekend open because it will also have been my last time. We waited for an hour at this wildly popular breakfast place on a summertime Saturday morning. It’s the same story at popular places in LA. I don’t know why people are bitching about the wait. Just goto some shittier place up the road, already. There’s a reason the line is so long at Biscuits and the smarter, patient people know what it is. There was a decent line just to get our names on the list! Tara at the hostess stand was so sweet and very apologetic about the wait, though she had no reason to be. We had donuts to start. They were to die for and beautifully presented. I could have just had a few orders of those and called it a morning, but we didn’t. I had the Yardbird with cheddar and my wife got the chicken and waffles. The food was spectacular to say the least. Crispy chicken on a perfectly warm and soft homemade biscuit. Mouth watering just to write the review… Two gorgeous deviled eggs arrived for«dessert» ;) All in all it was quite an awesome experience. I’m glad we made it there for their last weekend. I would have really missed out had I never had the Biscuits experience.

I went here on Sunday morning, fairly late in the morning. Can’t believe I hadn’t gone yet and was really looking forward to it. We checked in, party of 2, was told there was a 20 – 25 minute wait but it could be shorter if other parties didn’t show… So here’s the thing. I have no problem waiting for a seat(I didn’t know you could call in), the problem I have is that they are SUPER hesitant to give tables away for no-shows. There were multiple parties waiting outside, 3 total parties of 2 and a party of 4. They called name after name with no response, then they would wait 5 minutes or more and they would call the name again and look around. Then they would leave 4 tops open and wouldn’t sit parties of 2 at them, therefore they just had a bunch of people standing around waiting for parties that weren’t going to show up. Solution: Don’t take reservations when you are so small, that way you can fill a table as soon as it opens up! Okay okay, enough of that, but seriously. The food was pretty good, ordered the biscuits and gravy(because it’s necessary), would had liked for it to be a sausage gravy I will admit, but was still pretty darn good. They make homemade biscuits of course. GF got the waffle with pecans and banana, good flavor but it’s a very thin pancake and therefore is pretty crispy, which wasn’t expected. The food also took 20 minutes to come out, which was WAY long for a waffle and biscuits, I’m guessing the kitchen is slow on making the biscuits and that is why their tables turn so slow. Overall 3 stars, if they couldn’t coordinate their seating more effectively, I definitely would like to come back, but I hate staring at open tables and being told there is a long wait.

I have been to Biscuts about ten times now and have NEVER been disappointed with the food. The waffles are thin and flavorful. The Biscuts are light and fluffy. The fried chicken is cooked perfectly, the gravy is perfection. The only criticism I have is the cinnamon rolls weren’t as sweet as I like them, same with the pecan sticky buns. Maybe more if that icing would help. They do a good job of focusing in great service and because they are so busy the wait can be up to 45 minutes. You don’t get seated until they are ready to give you a first class experience. My kids love this place. I ate here twice in one weekend and everything was awesome. Go here. Be patient. Get the yardbird with cheddar and an egg. It’s the best!

I have wanted to try this place for so long and I finally got my chance. This is a little corner neighborhood restaurant and very unassuming. We drove right past it as first because we didn’t see any discerible signs. But then I saw a ‘Yelp loves us!’ sticker and knew I found what I was looking for. We came early before the breakfast rush, so there was no wait. Our server was very good. She checked on us regularly and made sure all of our requests were fulfilled. We shared the fried green tomatoes, the deviled eggs, and the Yardbird. All items were excellent. Portions were very generous. My favorite thing was the flaky tender biscuit. One of the best I’ve had. The Yardbird was a sliced biscuit with a large fried chicken breast, with bacon and a fried egg, all covered in gravy. I’m a lover of biscuits and gravy and this gravy, while good, was pretty mild in flavor. All the other ingredients more than made up for it though. I wanted to order more biscuits to take home(their jams and spreads are homemade. Swoon!), but my hips and thighs would have suffered since I doubt I would have shared. They are that good! Can’t wait to go back.

Really bad experience… we arrived before 11am and were told that they would sit our party of 6 at one of the two empty picnic benches in twenty minutes as they needed to let the kitchen catch up. Then we proceeded to watch as they sat another larger group at the two picnic tables. When we finally were seated over 30 minutes later at the community table, the menu had changed over and was now limited. We had a child with us who wanted to order a waffle and bacon. They explained that because they were winding down for the day and didn’t want to run out of things, side orders were no longer accepted. After speaking to the manager she agreed to let us order a waffle. I ordered the Yardbird and asked for the bacon removed and on the side, so I could give it to the child we were dining with, since we couldn’t order any for her. When the food FINALLY came another 30 minutes later there was no bacon on my Yardbird or on the side. When the waitress went back to ask the cook for the bacon he complained VERYLOUDLY that, «it should have been ordered with no bacon then, who orders a Yardbird with no bacon!!!». I was thoroughly appalled by this behavior. I paid for the sandwich bacon and all, if I had asked for the bacon to be served on the side or the bottom or the top, or not at all, who cares? But to blatantly ignore the request to have it on the side, because one thinks they know better is an arrogant, ignorant assumption. This behavior was beyond unprofessional and completely rude. I will not return to this establishment nor recommend it to anyone. The food was good, but the overall negative experience overshadowed any other redeemable qualities it could have had.

I have an addiction to the pappy… they were closing and stayed open just long enough for me to get my fix… I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not… they’re enabling me! I just wish they were open longer…

OMG… I don’t often rant about a place, but I can definitely go on and on about the awesomeness of this one. We were in Napa for our anniversary, and I had one of those food guides. I noticed biscuits which my husband, being from the South, loves. So I looked up the restaurant, and we headed out early(thank God) on a Sunday morning to find it. I’m glad we were there early, because we probably were one of the last ones seated before the line started forming outside. I had the chicken and waffles. Great batter with the splash of sea salt to add that little something extra. The waffles were thin and crispy. And, the bourbon maple syrup… I poured that over everything. My husband got the biscuits and gravy with eggs and a side of homemade sausage. Get out the water because that sausage had some heat! My husband knows a good biscuit, and he loved these. He kept eating even though he complained that he was full multiple times. You have to get the Death by Chocolate Milk. Served in a Mason jar and ice cold, I thought I was having dessert before breakfast. The place is small, so go early. Or if there’s a line, it’s worth the wait. Hope to be back in Napa soon because I know that we’ll be back… maybe for lunch next time!

Chicken and waffles. If it’s on the menu, that’s what I order. Our server, Taylor is the sweetest young lady. She fits the casual laid back feeling of the restaurant. It’s an eclectic sort of place. Mix mash. A couple of picnic tables, a long communal table, and tables of two and four. And a ceiling fan hovering over the communal table. A very retro looking place. Back to the chicken and waffles. Hubby ordered the same thing. My waffle was too brown for my liking so I traded with him. The fried chicken — a wing, a drumstick, and a thigh. My drumstick was lukewarm, but the wing and thigh were piping hot. I enjoyed the crust. But the meat needed more flavor. Kind of bland. Hubby disagreed. Very attentive service. I’m gonna come back to try the Yardbird. That looked interesting. Overall 3.5

I had breakfast here this morning and I was blown away. I fully recommend The Yardbird. The biscuit was perfect– light and fluffy. The chicken was fried perfectly and was still moist. It is a small place and does get crowded so beware that chances are you will wait for a table, but it is so worth it!

Where did the time go? We were planning on having a fun breakfast here but didn’t get sat until after 11am which means one thing, breakfast is over. At 11am they promptly switch over to their lunch menu which does have many of the popular biscuit sandwiches but if you want breakfast foods, come early. Of course we made the most of it ordering a ton more food than we could possibly eat, so worth it. Cinnamon Roll — This was a pretty solid baked good and was served to us nice and warm(not microwaved). The cream cheese frosting was puddling around the sides of the roll and I could help but spoon it up and eat it straight. I heart cream cheese frosting. Death by Chocolate Milk — Yep, you read it right, I ordered chocolate milk. It was so thick and so frothy the Quik rabbit would have poured his shit down the drain after one taste. While it wasn’t the death of me my tummy ached from all the sugar I consumed in only a few minutes. I need to learn to pace myself better. Anyways order this but drink it slow. Biscuit and Pimento Cheese — Think hot baked biscuit with a side of spiked cream cheese. This was decent, especially the biscuit. The biscuits are light, airy and have so many layers in which to slather with butter and pimento cheese. The Yardbird — They take a hot biscuit and set it in a pool of gravy then top it with cheese(optional), bacon, crispy fried chicken then top it with an egg(optional) of your choice. I went ahead and ordered my egg over easy. First thing I did was pop my egg yolk and admired it slowly draping over every inch of my sandwich. Then fork and knife style, I went for it. It’s everything you’d expect, crunchy, salty, comforting, it runs the gamut of the levels of tastiness. There you have it, hell yeah tasty comfort food. Next time we will get up extra early to make the breakfast menu.

This little jewel was awesome. I had the Yardbird it’s fried chicken breast, bacon, bisquit & gravy. Wifey went with the Chicken and Waffles! a simple place and simple… but very tasty food. Comfort food. Very yummy. Close to downtown Napa.

I normally do not go for breakfast places that don’t serve alcohol — there is nothing like a boozy breakfast/brunch, however, I would give up the best mimosa in town in a heartbeat for coffee and anything off of the menu at Napa Valley Biscuits. I had the yardbird sandwich and it was phenomenal. The biscuits were amazing and I was skeptical on the assembly of the sandwich but it all came together perfectly. You do need to come hungry here. And the prices are so cheap! If you were really hungry, you could order 2 entrees but that’s pretty impossible given the generous portion sizes. My friend ordered the omelette and even it was delicious — the sausage was perfectly spiced and savory and it was served with a very nice salsa. Service was also great. Our waitress was gracious and efficient, and coffee and water refills were continuously offered.

Really outstanding breakfast and brunch at this place in Napa. The hush puppies were great comfort food, the deviled eggs were expertly prepared like fine dining but then had bacon on top to bring you back to the diner experience, the waffles had the right balance of sweetness and savory to also be good comfort food, the fried chicken was hot, moist, with great tasting breading, the biscuits and gravy were also delicious and rich but not heavy, and finally the Yardbird was a great tasting fried chicken biscuit and gravy sandwich.

Best breakfast I’ve ever had. How have I only just now discovered this place? My wife and I went in a Sunday morning, so the wait was about 15 minutes to order and 20 minutes for food. Not bad at all for the high standard of quality of food, attention to detail and friendliness of the staff. We got the Pappy and the Biscuits and Gravy. The Pappy was the best breakfast food EVER! The chicken was perfect! The waffle was perfect! Everything about it was perfect! YUM!!! The B&G was good. Each flavor popped out and tasted fresh and clean. Overall very good, but I now know to order something more exciting next time. As I mentioned, the staff are very, very helpful and friendly. Seating is first come, first served, so ordering to-go is an option, but not as fun.

My main squeeze decided to take me to Biscuits when we first moved to Napa together. It’s just down the street north of downtown, which means parking is perfect. I’m a fan of biscuits and gravy so I was hurting for some, but once I came across the Pappy… I was sold. What. You say you have chicken and waffles with a nice little pepper jelly and syrup? Oh you do? Well… Please put that on a plate together for me to stuff in my mouth. Thanks. I wasn’t disappointed. The Pappy made my morning and to boot, it was a chicken and waffle sandwich. Man. So good. On our next visit I decided on the Buloxi(spelling?) Bennie. Holy smokes. Again with the foodgasim in my mouth. Collard greens with hammocks on a fluffy biscuit with eggs and a nice thick piece of ham on top. Uhhmm… Yes. It was fantastic. Biscuits doesn’t disappoint. The place is very homely and cute. It can get crowded on the weekends so make sure you hit it up at a good time.

**4.5 Stars** Napa Valley Biscuits is Southern style breakfast done at it’s very best. We had debated driving much farther to either Boon Fly Café or the Fremont Diner, but decided to give this more recent eatery a chance. The Pappy made my decision look like genius! It’s conveniently located on Main Street although a few blocks opposite from the main downtown area(where Morimoto, etc. are located). Street parking was easy to find and it seemed we weren’t the only ones that thought to try this place. By it’s 8AM opening, there was a long line and even though we arrived well before opening time, we were the 3rd party in line. The specialties here are obviously their biscuits, but most reviews rave about their fried chicken and waffles. I decided to go all out and try their two most popular items. It’s a casual restaurant with a screen door like an old house and a system of order first, then sit, and then they’ll bring your food. The cashier was very friendly and efficient, but they make everything from scratch once ordered(ie: deep frying the chicken, cooking the biscuits on a griddle) so it’s easy to see how this place can get backed up. Our wait was about 10 minutes, but they had plentiful staff in the small kitchen and the waitress brought out items as quick as she could. Everything comes out piping hot and they take their time to prepare the item and make it look nice versus sloppily pushing it out when the crowds get crazy. Fresh Orange Juice — $ 4.50. Standard fare. The Yardbird — $ 8.50. Biscuits with gravy but also a deep fried chicken and thick slice of applewood smoked bacon. There are options for cheese(50 cents) or an egg(any style, $ 1) and we opted to add an egg. It’s a delicious and heavy looking dish. The biscuits were good but a bit denser than I expected. The gravy was good, but not spectacular. I’m not too big a biscuit fan, so I’m not surprised I just thought the Yardbird was just good. The star though is the chicken. They use all white meat, but the chicken comes out piping hot, lightly breaded, and both juicy and flavorful. I’d guess they brine it. The over easy egg was nicely done, but didn’t add a lot to the biscuit and gravy. It’s more of an over-the-top thing(like doing extra egg and pork belly slices when you order ramen). The Pappy — $ 8.75. Buttermilk waffles with deep fried chicken and applewood smoked bacon. Served with a side of syrup. These are served slider style(two sliders) and whereas I liked but didn’t love the Yardbird, the Pappy WASONEOFTHEBESTTHINGS I HADTHISNAPATRIP. Absolutely amazing. The waffles were so light and fluffy with the perfect crispness. The chicken, like for the Yardbird, was stellar. Very tender, juicy and flavorful. And the bacon was the last added touch of savoriness. I thought I tasted a hint of sriracha sauce but I could be imagining things. Dipped in the warm syrup, this is one of the best breakfast items I’ve ever had. It’s also one of the highest calorie, but so worth it. If you’re wondering how this compares to Roscoe’s, which I tried in LA, I can assure you it’s no contest. This is a freshly made waffle. Deep fried chicken just made. And just fried bacon. Perfect. After your meals, you bus your own tables, although many people forget. By the time we left, there was a line waiting for tables. Napa Valley Biscuits was a true treat and only open for breakfast hours. They are doing a Monday Night Football special(for take out during the evenings of Fried Chicken) but I just overheard the details. So happy for a great breakfast option near downtown Napa and the popular Westin Verasa. Napa Valley Biscuits takes credit cards but not American Express.

This place was recommended to us, and my first reaction to the menu was Maybe Ill have a heart attack today? BUT… Then I tasted The Pappy… OMG maybe one of my favorite things I’ve ever eaten!!! Didn’t want to share my leftovers with my kids… And then was asked When can WE go there?! The best salty/sweet/slightly spicy combo! Waffles light, chicken juicy & tasty!!! Gotta try it!

I can already feel it in my bones. I will be returning here every time I’m anywhere near Napa during breakfast or lunch hours from now on! We came here on a Saturday morning around 10 and the place was hopping. The line took a little longer to get through than I would have liked, but I’m glad this place is doing well, because I hope it will be around for a long time. We split the Pappy and the Yardbird, and loved every bit of both. The red pepper jelly was a perfect condiment on the Pappy. The biscuit was flaky and light and the gravy creamy and savory for the Yardbird. For both, the fried chicken was juicy and moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside. This is some memorably good food, for $ 8 per sandwich. We saw plenty of menu items we didn’t get to try but would like to next time — housemade Ding dongs, Mr. Pickles and Wilbur sandwiches, and the fried tomato starter! I want it all! All in good time.

This was another Bartholomew Winery suggestion. The biscuits were described as «Slap your Mama good» and they were(sorry Mom). I ordered the Chicken and Waffles(they also have that in a sandwich). The chicken is fried to order and it was lovely; light and crispy and then finished off with a little sea salt. The waffles were just your basic well made waffle. They were thin and crisp. These were above and beyond the best I have had. My wife, for the first time ever, ordered a biscuit and gravy. It came with an over easy egg on top. The gravy was made with bacon fat, like a good gravy should, and it was the perfect start to a day involving lots of alcohol. We got a couple biscuits to go. They were a great midday snack. These are good, dense biscuits that don’t need anything, but a little butter and jam and you would be in heaven… a least my wife was. They are a friendly crew with a fun breakfast and lunch menu.

I wish this place was closer to home for me! I would make sure I was here at least once a week! Not a very big place and it gets packed! The menu it not outrageously big, given the small kitchen, they keep things to a minimum. I ordered the Biloxi Benny– two biscuits, with collared greens, ham and a great sauce, with two sunny side up eggs on top… I LOVE this dish! I also tried my friends Cow Poe… can’t tell you how good that is. Some of the best biscuits and gravy, with an over easy egg on top! And you HAVE to get two drinks, one being the chocolate milk! not your typical powdered milk mix, it is not rich, just plain old goodness! And last but not least, orange juice! This again is not your typical orange juice. The juice it freshly squeezed and has just enough sweetness. I finally then had a cinnamon bun to go, great heated up in the microwave! Anyone in the area has to come here, it quaint and cozy! I suggest coming here in the earlier part of the morning, the wait can be a while and getting your food can take some time as well, up to 30 minutes at least. And remember to make sure you clean your table at the end! There is a place to put your dishes. Parking is not hard to find, plenty of spaces on the street. So come and enjoy some awesome dishes!
