In August of 2014 Chris Foster began working at CalWine. Owner Al Jabarin knows talent when he sees it, and he has found it. Chris’ initiation to CalWine came with a 6.1 earthquake that tossed the majority of inventory onto the floor. So, he is intimately familiar with every bottle in stock. Chris has a palate that has experienced thousands of domestic and global wines. Al Jabarin has tasted far more. If you tell them what you want in a wine they are going to find it for you. Expect professionalism, knowledge and value for everyday wines and the limited special releases. CalWine took a serious inventory loss from the earthquake, support local businesses.

This was my last stop in downtown Napa before i had to hit the road for SFO and I’m so glad I found it. I was actually looking for something else and stopped to read the menu at Lulu’s and found myself wishing it was open. Someone parked and noticed me standing there and he turned out to be the owner of Lulu’s and I mentioned I was looking for another place that supposedly had a good cellar… and to keep along story short he showed me to his other business CalWine. I wanted something no one else in Vegas could get and boy did I get it! I purchased 4 bottles of wine and only had one and I’m not even going to mention the name because I’m going to buy the rest if I can! Great recommendation for the type of wine I said I like and even my friend and I who never agree on wine devoured that bottle! I can’t wait to return to Napa and try Lulu’s and another bottle of wine. Wish I had a wholesale license so I could bring back a few unique bottle to Las Vegas and sell them!

I was looking for a Port Wine that my wife and I had tried a couple of months ago at a friends house. Low and behold I found the CalWine web site and they carried it! I ordered two bottles on Monday evening, they shipped the next day and were delivered on Thursday! Shipping was a bit expensive, but hey they’re bottles of wine. Price was right in line with what I would expect. I really appreciate the fast turn around on my order.

We have purchased wine through Cal Wine for a number of years, and Al is our«go-to» wine source — his amazing selection of wines are not the«usual» that you can find just anywhere, the prices are excellent(get on his e-mail list for advertised specials) — but mainly, because we appreciate how we are treated when we go there. Al and Lucey are WONDERFUL — their service is top notch — they know what we like and pay attention to that. Al is not there just to sell any wine to his customer — he takes the time and makes good recommendations, and wants the customer to like what they buy and to be happy with their purchase. Can’t say enough about how knowledgeable and what terrific people Al, Lucey and staff are. We get calls often from the competition in town to buy from them and we have to pass — they are just pushing wine. We know that our Cal Wine experiences have always been positive and personable. Highly recommend Cal Wine for your special purchases! Visit them in the Spring 2011 for their new location — making the wine experience even better — truly lovely — you will love it, too!

Simply the best filter of all the wines in Napa and Sonoma, California. My sister introduced me to Al and Calwine. Al is the proprietor, and the nicest guy you will ever meet who is also extremely knowledgeable about Northern California wines AND(and this is a really really important and) will happily open up something nice for you while you are visiting his shop. When my sister and I were there, Al opened up a bottle of Renteria 2001 Cabernet Sauv. It is now my favorite wine. Unfortunately, I only bought two bottles, one has been drunk, and the wine is no longer available. Bummer… He also has a wide selection of T-Vine and will always give you the best recommendations for your taste and budget. For example, he shipped to my sister, in Colorado, a dozen wines under $ 15 each, and every one was absolutely delicious. I recently joined the wine club at the bottom of the rung — he has four or five levels, each of differing a different price range. I pay fifty bucks a month and receive a red and a white or two reds, and that includes shipping, handling and tax. Both wines were absolutely glorious(a rose and a zin). I may put myself up a level once hubby is out of law school, but being the bargain-hunter/expensive handbags purchaser that I am, and being perfectly happy with the wines I’ve received so far, I may just stay at this level. Okay, this must officially be my longest review ever, but one more thing: When I joined the club, Al called me personally to say that he remembered when my sister and I visited(I noted it in my order), to welcome me to the club, and to say that he hoped my husband and I could stop by real soon. Awesome. Love that guy.
