I love oysters, especially ones that taste fresh, meaty, and subtly briny. My sister recommended this place. It’s located right in the Oxbow Market(it’s a neat little market BTW). I arrived right when it opened and within minutes the place was packed. The seating is limited so I would imagine this place gets packed during peak times. I ordered a dozen of the Hog Island Sweetwater oysters to share with two others. Excellent! Tasted fresh, meaty, and easy on the brininess. Apparently, the Hog Island Sweetwaters are locally harvested by Hog Island in the Tomales Bay. They handraise these oysters using their own seed. You can simply taste the difference. Recommend!

By far some of the best oysters my wife and have had in a very long time. The customer service was impeccable and the waiter kept our water glass full. The market type setting is clean and gives a small town feel which is often missed in the surrounding cities. We will definitely go back soon.

The oysters here are definitely some of the best around. However, the price is a bit much. Also, when we ate here, the bread was not fresh, to say the least. However, the rest of the meal was great, and our servers were very attentive and pleasant. Great date spot.

I’ve been to the SF location and this place was just as good as I remembered. The grilled cheese sandwich and clam chowder were delicious. I didn’t like the steamed mussels because it has weird taste. The oysters tasted fresh but a few of us got the runs after eating… This happened to me at the SF location too. So we are not sure if it was the oysters or not. I’ll skip the oysters next time. We got here right when it opened at 11:30am so we got a table right away. It started getting packed when we left around 1pm.

Had one of each of the oyster selection — each was very different and very delicious. If my review was on the oysters alone it would be 5 star! However we happened to be sitting at the bar with a clear view of the kitchen and WOW some things went on in there that… definitely helped us decide to NOT order anything else. The main chef had a very big scowl and unhappy demeanor, I mean I get it, it must not be fun having people all up on your business, but here we all are! And the ZERO use of gloves going from shellfish to peanut oil to dish to rag to apron to shellfish to rag to wiping up dirt to handling food to cleaning a plate to re-plating food. It was just a lot of things happening, I mean it was honestly non-stop and not once were those hands washed. I’d suggested they get an enclosed kitchen… for everything except the oyster bar.

Protip: Get there early, cause that line becomes formidable later in the afternoon! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Hog Island Oyster Co. the food, the wine and the service was phenomenal. We devastated dozens and dozens of oysters. It was glorious. Out of all of the types they had, I enjoyed the Kumamotos the most, but you should still try a variety of them, because some of the other ones were quite good as well(the capital cities was quite nice when I went.) YMMV, check with the server to see whats good when you’re there! We also ordered the little steamers soup with the baia pasta, that was excellent as well, make sure you get some extra bread and dip it in the sauce for some extra goodness. The wines they have on the list are generally have a stronger minerality and earthiness and are not so fruit forward and sweet, but they match fantastically with the oysters so no worries there. Our favorite wine of the meal was surprisingly the house label! The Hog Island Oyster Co. own house wine, a gruner-veltliner and albarino blend was banging. On our third day in Napa, we actually just dropped by the Hog Island Oyster Co. for quick drink before going to Bottlerock and just ordered a bottle of it on the patio before heading in to the music festival. Service was quick and attentive. I’m a fan, will def. comeback.

Love this place. This place has one in San Francisco too and I went both places. Taste same of course. There main is oyster. We order mix oyster 12 for 3 ppl. $ 38. This place does not have big food like steal. Small food like sandwich or clam chowder. We ordered clam chowder. Super Tartu. Eat with Brad! One star less is because this place is small and need to wait. Great place to drink and eat oyster and chilling.

During a random 1 day getaway trip to Napa, we decided to visit Hog Island Oyster Co. It wasn’t our intended destination for lunch; but, thank goodness, we got lost. We pulled up around the corner and decided to waltz in and go for it anyway. We got all 4 of the raw oyster options along with one of the clam options to try. The Oyster Po Boy was incredibly delicious. A nice soft bun topped with red cabbage and fresh, hot, deep fried oysters only to be topped with another soft bun. The combination of hot and crispy oysters with a nice cool soft bun, cool vegetables and inexplicably amazing when paired with the grilled oysters! I loved eating here since everyone’s extra cheery and happy to help answer any questions! I somewhat wish the bar area was just a bit wider/larger to seat just a couple more people since it was a little tight. Other than that, everything was great and we had fun watching the staff prepare all the food. Hog Island definitely was one of the highlights of that trip.

Went here for a Napa Tuesday local nights with a bunch of my co-foodie friends. We had a party of 8 and the wait was only around half an hour. I mean there are so much to do at the oxbow so 30 minutes flew by super fast. It’s funny because I don’t care much for raw oysters, it’s usually«Give them to me grilled, or I won’t eat it!» I’ve tried raw oysters at other places and it’s usually always a disappointment. My husband told me to just try one from this place… So I was brave enough to do it. Hmmm maybe he shouldn’t have let me because I ended up eating 6 of the oysters and we had to order more. We ordered the Hog island sweet water — exquisite! Especially with the dipping sauce they had. Oh and don’t forget pls don’t forget to Order the clam chowder– hands down to this clam chowder! Happy oyster eating!

The clam chowder is so good! Chock full of seafood, it was a completely satisfying meal. I also shared a grilled cheese with a friend, and that was tremendously delicious! The cheese had melted around the outside of the bread, so there was crispy, toasted cheese surrounding the entire sandwich! YUM! We also really liked the pickled vegetables that came on the side. Two of my friends ordered the jalapeño white wine. It sounded weird to me, but when I tried it, I actually liked it. We all did. Our sever told us that we could buy some at a local liquor store, which was a great tip, and we drove over afterwards to buy a couple bottles. They’ll be interesting to open at parties, etc. :) Also, for a serving of nachos. Haha.

No lines! The place to be. Compared to the location in SF, this place is a hidden gem. The wait at the one in SF is usually 45 min +. I think we might have waited about 10 minutes here I have an ongoing, everlasting love affair with Oysters! For a starter we ordered the Oyester sampler. A perfect appetizer for the three of us, I believe each of us got to sample 4 different Oysters! We could have easily had half a dozen each! The Oysters were so fresh, tasty and turned out to be the perfect appetizer. We all ordered the Oyester Po Boy, which was very good… I guess its a bit different than the traditional New Orleans version… perhaps a bit heavy on the helping of cabbage, but still very very good. We also dug our hands into Vicky’s Steamer Clams… which by the way was an excellent idea! The sauce was simply amazing! I think we ordered more bread and licked the plate clean… lol I found the staff here was very friendly and accommodating! The service was spot on as well, checked up on us frequently and kept our Chardonnay chilled!

I absolutely loved it here! I’m not a big oyster person, but all the oysters tasted so fresh and so delicious! The wait line was pretty daunting, but it moved quickly. After downing half a dozen oysters each, we all had the rustic seafood stew which was out of this world. I loved the tomato based broth and the fish inside was soooooo good! You gotta make a stop here!

Came here on a Saturday afternoon during Thanksgiving Weekend and there was no wait. We were seated outside in the patio and served water in cups with lipstick stains and cold, hard bread. I told our waitress and she switched it out for us but it really shouldn’t happen in the first place. Anyways, I ordered the clam chowder and my boyfriend had the steamer with pasta. Surprisingly, we did not order any oysters. Chowder was average with a lot of clams. The steamer dish had an overall white wine flavor but other than that was pretty bland. There was also very little pasta which we paid extra for. Like I said, we didn’t try the oysters so maybe if we do come back we give that a shot. Overall we were unimpressed.

This was the perfect spot to grab lunch between wineries on our day trip to Napa. My friend who lives in Napa frequents this spot and ordered for the table. Loved it all. Here is what we had: — mixed selection of oysters based on the special that day — clam chowder… this the real stuff! — seafood stew… delicious with the bread they served at the table — grilled cheese… who would have thought I would get this excited about a grilled cheese sandwich but it was amazing I never tried this spot at the Ferry bldg inSF but finally had the experience in Napa. Well worth it!

I love this place for the wonderful simplicity that they do so well. My favorite things to order is a few oysters(depends on how to wallet feels) and the clam/mussel stew(depends on what’s on the menu for the day) with some fusilli pasta. You can always omit the pasta, and get extra bread to dip in the very tasty broth. Their oyster po’boy is different from what you get in New Orleans, but still really good. the oyster is perfectly fried and paired with wonderful bread and veggies. The only time I’ve ever been disappointed with my order was the grilled cheese sandwich… There wasn’t anything wrong with it, it was pretty good overall, just, really, what was I thinking when I ordered a grilled cheese at a seafood place? FYI, most items can only be served in their private seating area only. Sandwiches can be ordered and eat in the common Oxbow area, but not much else. Pro-tip: corkage fee is $ 15, and they provide glasses and a bucket with ice.

YUMMMMMM!!! That’s probably the best word to describe Hog Island. My bf and I ordered the clam chowder and seafood stew. The chowder wasnt extra creamy or heavy like the ones I’ve had at other restaurants. There was a ton of clams in the chowder along with small bites of carrots, potatoes and bacon. Definitely a must if you come here! We also opted for the stew because it just looked so good! It tasted really fresh with tons of seafood(fish, clams, mussels, prawns, etc.) We both prefer the chowder over the stew. This Hog location is actually located in a public market so there are a ton of other eateries under the same room. I’d recommend coming early if you are coming with a big group. We hear the oysters are great too so that’s something we will try next time! Parking is free in the lot and there’s ton of spots available. We came on a Saturday early afternoon and didn’t have any trouble at all getting a spot.

So perhaps I should not be rating this place as I didn’t eat anything but my mom, my date for the day, savored each and every one that she ordered. Hilariously, she started with six… did another round of six… and then gave a grin for one last order of six. She enjoyed the variety of sauces but the cocktail sauce won out 90% of the time. It had been years and years since she’d eaten oysters and she was making up for lost time. We sat at the bar during happy hour and enjoyed chatting with the shucker(?) and the hosts. Friendly folk! I really loved the ambiance with the outdoor patio and will definitely take her back for round four!(I’ll just come more hungry and ready to try the chowder!)

Love me some oysters! If you’re in the Oxbow Market, you must give this place a try if you’re a seafood lover. If you’re not, you’re missing out… not much I can say to convince you. Every time I’m in Napa, and especially at the Oxbow Market, I make it a point to get my oyster po’boy at this joint. A bowl of steamers goes well with their bread. Sitting outdoors is fun on a sunny afternoon. One time it was extremely busy, I ordered my oyster po’boy to go, big mistake! It was messy to eat and not as good as eating it here — duh! Good for groups and kids. Afterwards, go get some ice cream from Three Twins. Make it a Sunday Funday ~ cheers =)

The good thing going for this place was their clam chowder — it was the rock star of the items that we ordered — oysters, oyster po’boy, and grilled cheese sandwich. Light chowder, and plenty of clams accompanying the chowder. This is the dish that I would come back for. A third grader probably could have come up with a better looking and tastier grilled cheese than what was served up on that particular day that I dined here. The grilled cheese looked uninspired and created as an afterthought for non-meat eaters that dine there. The star of the grilled cheese dish was the pickled sides. The oyster po’boy was average at best due to the fact that the oysters were deep fried so dark, typical when the deep fryer oil has not been changed in quite some time. The other components were fine.

If you love oysters, this is the place for you. With a vast variety of oysters to choose from, there’s no way you can go wrong. It’s also a plus that you don’t have to venture into deep into the bag to get some good oysters, if you’re closer to the Napa area. Anyways my friends and I tried the Oyster Bar. It was a taste of all raw oysters on the menu. If this is your first time here I would recommend it. It will help you decide which one u like the best. I felt like as we went down the list, the oysters were tasting better and better. I also had the Rockefeller Deliciously grilled Oysters with spinach and butter. It will have you savoring every bite. Oyster Po’Boy I wasn’t definitely thrown off by this one. Cause it came as like a burger? It was about 5 deep fried oysters and cole slaw… On buns? Pathetic, not worth $ 14, no where near authentic. If they just said oyster burger then maybe it would be better. Buts it’s not a Po’Boy. Chowder It’s decent. You’ll appreciate all the shellfish they give you. But the soup taste better when your using the complementary bread to dip them with. The soup isn’t really thick, so yeah it’s just ok. Overall I would say if you craving oysters, then head on down. But the Raw/Grilled oysters is probably the only reason why you should.
